The continuity of main games actually is MK2 into Victory into Victory 2
Spinoffs seem to exist in their own universe

they do have a continuity, the mainline games(non-handheld releases) other than the original all happen in the same dimension, spin-offs(the ones with different gameplay) are non-canon(you could probably argue that U is canon actually)
