Dark Souls Weaponfu thread

Dark Souls Weaponfu thread.

Recently just started using these, and they're absolutely beastly but anyone have some additional tips for them?

What's the best gem to go with: Sharp, Refined, or Heavy? I'm also upping Faith to 60 for Darkmoon Blade + Yorskha Chime.

What rings complement them the most?

Mono on mono they're great but I have trouble using them against a gank squad so what do against that?

since everyone expects you to roll + L1, instead roll then hit your weapon art and strong attack.

...

Switch to a weapon with brief hyper-armor. greataxe maybe. If ganks come at you, you need something that can shrug off the initial attacks andmake them finch instead. I can't count how many times I've successfully kills gank-squads when switching to the weapon that wors for it.

Best you can do otherwise is move away from them and turn back on them all of a sudden but that doesn't work as often.

First weapon I ever +10'd

Poor grammar aside, my point is that there is a weapon for every scenario, and a counter to everything. If you weapon simply won't work for a situation, you have no choice but to change tacticts on the fly.

Moonlight great sword is so satisfying to use, with a spear or halberd dualwield for range

I've been using the Washing Pole since the range on the sprint poke is such a great anti-chug method, but after seeing some webm's on here I decided to go for a parry 1-shot build. Dragonslayer Greataxe + parry dagger and hornet ring is incredible.

BKGA + Gotthards

That makes sense.

Know any lightweight yet decent ultra greatsword?

Profaned, best sword

Astora Greatsword is the best UGS for its weight.

It has lower base damage but it makes up for it with B/B scaling and it's surprisingly light for an UGS (8.0 units, vs. 13.5 for Profaned). Plus it looks fucking awesome.

Who /Thiccaxe/ here

Yeah, the astora greatsword. Incredible range and good damage, and it's only 8 pounds for some reason. And what suggested is good too.

I personally love using the thrall axe, switching it out for the BKGA. Biggie and smalls, the dynamic duo.

Also, why in the fuck does the flamberge have a base damage of 144 with DD going up and bleed? How can one weapon be so based? Especially early and raw, basically 2-shots people one-handed, let alone enchanted. Overlooked OP for sure.

I've been using mostly the Astora Greatsword until a Flamberge dropped.
Flamberge is amazing.

Whats a good weapon for the abyss watchers?
Any boss fight with adds is a bad boss fight

>Mono on mono

Im on that scythe life. Amish champion.

That's what I'm saying. When I was reading over every weapon in my inventory I got to flamberge and basically stared at it trying to figure out how in the hell it could be so good.

One on one.

Jesus, what school you went to?

The one not meant for subhuman spics, you fucking shitskinned corn nigger. Build wall

>mono on mono
did you mean to say mano a mano?

The one that calls it mano e mano?

>weaponfu
>posts tryhard metafag shit
every fucking time
inb4 20 posts claiming their weaponfu is bkga or bkg

bad school

Ah what would I know I'm fucking British. It's another world to me.

When get summoned I fucking rekt npcs and invaders with this.
Feels good man

Also if some invader is wearing a parryng shield I put out this bad boy.

Haven't played DS2 or 3 yet but Dragon Bone fist is my Favorite. To bad it sucks for PVP

lothric knight ugs

oops forgot pic

My brother. I even rock the same armor as you except for the headpiece.

No faith though, I just stick to golden pine resin.

No one can stop me

It's the coolest ugs but there's no real reason to use it.

Fuck you, I've been using Gotthard's almost exclusively on one build since April 15th

i can't play bb with anything but this. i try something else and i feel like a brute or something. the elegant footwork of the good hunter when doing the normal r1, to the extravagant lavish lashing of the trick attack. fucking amazing.

I use it on my Tarkus build because it weighs 5 points less than Greatsword but only does like 10 less damage

my compatriot of dark complexion

I know your pain user. I've loved the dark sword since ds1 and I used it eventhough it was a bad straight sword back then.

Day one in ds3 I get a dark sword from a dickwraith and start using it, a couple of days later i find out it's a "meme" weapon.

I miss my high level staff that actually looks like a high level staff.
I also miss good magic.

>tfw a dorksword user posted near me

>those backstep attacks in both forms

How can anyone not love this weapon?

I had the same thing happen to me. I ended up beating the game with it before finding out so I had a decent amount of time to enjoy it without knowing. I moved on to the carthus curved greatsword now.

Not anymore user, they spoiled my fun.

It was love at first sight
Fuck all the fast weapons and people saying that slow weapons are useless.
I never had any problems in PVE or PVP with the great machete

>going from 1 overpowered memesword to another
kill yourself

considering latin is a dead language, it pretty much is to everyone.

I decided to cosplay a character from Fire Emblem and ended up making a character that looks like a generic Katana wielding edge Lord with the Chaos Blade and am loving getting off good parries.

One one hand it is completely within character, but on the other I can feel my opponents roll their eyes when they see me.

makes the game ez but I love it

This. I eventually replaced it with Dragonslayer Greataxe

Whenever I fight someone using these I just roll at the end of their roll over and over again to see how long they'll keep trying the one trick they know. It's hilarious.

i actually wish the transformed backstab attack was a bit more elaborate. it feels too much like the regular r1 attack.

but yeah my favorite weapon in all of soulsborne.

Stand back, men are coming through.

backstep attack* jesus

>want to use the Champs halberd
>it gets shit on in damage by those fat flying fucks Winged Halberd since i'm 40/40
>mfw

According to Sup Forums every weapon is an overpowered meme weapon so fuck off.

Are the balder knights literally the best enemy in the entire dark souls franchise?

>baller equipment
>A rank weapon drop
>Satisfying to parry
>will punish the player for mindlessly pressing r1
>gently advises the player to learn backstabs and parrying yet isn't stupid hard enough that you have to level vitality first.

Not every weapon. Only the ones that Sup Forums regularly loses to.

So it's really only like 95% of weapons.

I don't even care about the weapons but can someone tell me why they thought it was a good idea to have one shot parry cancer in the game?

Why do people think they are good when they get one off?

How do I use rapiers without being a cheap stunlock faggot?

I can win anything if I just mash r1 hard enough, but that's not very gentlemanly of me. I fight for love damnit.

I like how BB made whips completely viable weapons both in damage and usability
and then DaS3 shit all over them

>tfw no more Balder Leggings
I just want superhero underwear.

Email Fromsoft and tell them to make the combat actually well designed instead of a pile of meme shit.

You literally just described Silver/Black Knights except those aren't pushovers like your receding hairline knights.

>please parry me : the weapon

Literally the worst weapon in the game.

Try something that isn't shit, has non-parryable two handed r1's and absolutely destroys anyone trying to escape.

Which character is it?

Hi! I'm retarded and forgot my image.

My weaponfu is best weaponfu.

>mfw trying to kill them on my first playthough

>How do I use rapiers without being a cheap stunlock faggot?

easy, you don't fall for shitty memes
like it's your fault some retarded intern in From Soft forgot to switch a flag to true

YES.
been wanting to use them since i gave up my DaS Belmont run at O&S.
does anyone use the beast cutter? it looks cool as fuck and my inner 12-year old naruto fan wants to be abunai renji.

i hear the witche's locks are ok though.

I think the gitgud is a great one

>fighting more than 0 nonrespawning black knights before the balder knights

If you want to waste time go ahead

I like it but I feel there's something lacking with it.

>Good taste right here. A shame you'll never hit anyone with the weapon arts though.

>get hit by r1
>die

I wouldnt mind if it was the second form with no adds right off the bat but come on you cant really defend adds. Hell didnt Dark souls 2 get shit on for the royal right authority fight for having adds? Even though you have to run past those shitters outside I could forgive it if it was the second form

>those hyper armor frames on the weapon art
Astora GS is literally the best. There's nothing like revving that shit up in melee and running punks down as they panic roll away after realizing that hitting me isn't doing anything.

Yeah, that's certainly true. I do manage to land in some sweet weapon arts R1 to guard break, but that's very rare.

great club will always be my baby but I'm loving this little addition to DaS3
using feast bell during a boss with some other players and just melting its HP is amazing

Every weapon is fairly easy to parry provided you don't switch it up and it is actually parryable.

Right now I'm kind of infatuated with the Farron memesword for this reason.
The breakdancing is so expected that you can just throw any dagger with a reverse grip in the offhand and have an attack option that's really hard to spot and can mix up your attacks.
Maybe I'll match up with someone who is actually good but I for the time being it's working out for me.

forever and always

i don't even have to buy charcoal resin anymore

Moonlight Greatsword forever.

The AR is amazing with a refined gem as well. It's easy to get 400ish r1's in some cases and the R2's can do around 800-1,200 when charged up.

If I connect with a full weapon art it as some fool tries rolling away it almost always kills or flattens them on the ground..

Witch's locks work well on a dex/pyro build since the rolling r1 is great for out ranging r1 spammers and it compliments fireball spam fairly well but beyond that whips are kinda meh

Noob question here. Are the Dancers twin blades actually good damage wise? I really dont know if a weapon that has as many damage types as that one compares to some other random set of sword that just does physical.

>Dancers twin blades
They're garbage.

Range is shit. Still love it though.

they have too much damage split up between elements to be effective
you can use them if you want but be prepared for minimal damage on most enemies

Dark Souls 3 gives the adds proper infighting though since most of the bosses that have them can also neatly destroy them like the fodder they are.
Dark Souls 2 adds at best took like 5% of the damage they were supposed to take from every attack the boss dealt so that made them much more aggravating.
Especially RRA since his stupid little rats only took like 15 damage.
Great hollow on the other hand crushes his minions in one or two attacks.
And Abyss Watchers specifically has the red eyes prioritize the others so if you wait it out you can turn the fight on them.

>Recently just started using these

You and every other shitter. Thanks for the easy parries my friend. :)

No it's literally garbage. They do the least damage of any weapon in the game except broken swords. There are two reasons to this:
>multi-type damage has to go through each of the enemy's relevant resistances as opposed to just one
>damage below a minimum threshold is resisted four times as much as above that threshold
Any AR below 110 (at 40/40/40/40) will receive this colossal resistance, so any elemental damage below this AR will do absolutely fuck all.

They're absolute dogshit. They do almost no damage due to how defense works on split damage types, they have literally no poise break on mobs, and while the weapon art can do decent damage to players it's hard to land and worthless against mobs.

No, they're shit. Low damage and crappy moveset. Split damage weapons aren't necessarily terrible (see Drakeblood Greatsword) but they suffer a lot more from low AR than non-split does.

>using a shittier Yhorm's
j/k, they're both good.

>And Abyss Watchers specifically has the red eyes prioritize the others so if you wait it out you can turn the fight on them.
Not true, they have no prioritization beyond distance. They will literally turn 180 degrees mid combo if suddenly their target is no longer the closest one.
This is also true for the boss, but not true for the non-red-eye add which DOES have priority over the player character unless they're VERY distant.

As a Pyromancer, is the Coiled Greatsword better for me than Lorian's? I just want a quick buff for the weapon art and I notice CGS has more fire damage

Owain
