I continue to sit and patiently wait for any news about dead space, but nothing.
Dead Space
Me too user. Me too
Never realized this until now
was 3 as bad as people said it was?
dead space 1 & 2 are some of my favorite games and i didn't want to be left with a bad taste
3 is somewhat fun but felt like it was missing what made it dead space. The horror factor is just totally gone. The weapon crafting is cool but I prefer just base weapons with upgrades like in the second game.
There won't be another Dead Space. The series is dead. EA said prior to the release of DS3 that if it doesn't sell at least 5 million copies at launch the series will be canned. They've done it countless times before.
It wasn't spooky as DS1 or DS2.
DS3's gun modding was fun tho
First act or whatever actually felt like a throwback to dead space 1. It is less horror than the rest of the games though
2 PLASMA CUTTERS
Even thought EA put the series down to the gutter, I'd still love to see a continuation of Isaac Clarke's story.
It's hard to not like him, he's not some fucking supercharismatic genius that graduated from naval academy and was grade A+++ gorilla warfare expert. He's a regular joe working as a glorified mechanic and where in any book or game the protagonist would decide "I MUST PUT STOP TO THIS EVIL" Clarke doesn't want anything to do with all this bullshit and wants to go home.
The "ending" part of Dead Space 2 was brilliant and showed the player that when all is said and done, Clarke is still just a normal person.

>that ellie's "what?" in the end of DA2
...
Do you guys like 1 or 2 more?
I liked 1 more but 2 made some very good improvements.
2 was perfect gameplay and mission wise but needed more horror and atmosphere
Which game of the series is this?
1 for atmosphere
2 for gameplay
I think this gets brought up every Dead Space thread.
Also kill that dream OP cause I doubt it's happening. And after 3, do we even trust them to make it anymore?
I want fucking remaster and sequel, damn it
I never followed the narrative of the Dead Space games. I always just turned off the voices and music and then roleplayed them as sort of SWAT officer attempting to survive the mayhem.
I'm just interested to know if DS3 still has the sort of claustrophobic quarters feel so I can continue this.
Dead Space 2 for sure.
Nothing came close to DS1's atmosphere but I really liked that Isaac got a voice (thank god it was Gunner Wright) and the whole emphasis on cinematics/cutscenes and QTEs appealed me to greatly.
DS2 also had better gameplay and less plain tedious puzzles like the gravity tether and the spinning asteroid in DS1, but all in all both games are great.
DS2's suit design is also better than DS1's, fight me
I think you guys need to replay 2 if you think it lacks atmosphere.
Hell, do it anyway, it's fun.
What's your favourite weapon of all time?
Mind is the Flamethrower from DS2. That shit makes me feel like I'm in The Thing.Plus the blue flames are pretty as hell.
3 was objectively the best. This is a fact and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
dead space 1
the last scene of the game showcases that nicole is dead and the game is only 12 chapters too
This gloriously overpowered motherfucker.
I like the rapedisk from ds1
It sucked balls but i always had full ammo so i played through most of the game with it
Line gun.
The one flaw with the plasma cutter, the gun that would probably be my favorite, was that you could never dismember two limbs at once; so they give you a bigger plasma cutter.
Fucking genius.
my nugger
2 was perfect.
1 felt kind of pretentious because it was more heavy on the whole "horror" thing despite not actually being the least bit scary.
2 realized that if you hear necromorphs in the walls you're not gonna think "oh shit oh shit, I'm gonna die oh fuck"
You would think "Bitch, get the fuck out here so I can dismember you!"
Dead Space 3 killed the series.
it was a financial failure and brought its end
Just like how Lost planet 3 killed the series
>if you hear necromorphs in the walls you're not gonna think "oh shit oh shit, I'm gonna die oh fuck"
y-yeah, I definitely didn't think that ..
Force Gun from DS1 or 2, I forget which one it was that dismembered a basic necromorph in 1 shot and sent all its limbs bouncing around the room.
Honourary mention, . Fucking rivet miniguns in 3. Fired so damn fast, had so much ammo.
I think it was less that and more how obvious the necromorph entry points were in 1.
Any time you saw one of those panels with a fan you knew what was going to happen.
Dead Space 2 fixed that.
More or less. Dead Space 3 EA wanted something like 5mil units sold, or they would kill the series. It was financially, and critically a failure. Making it a dude bro co-op shooter isn't the best idea for a horror game.
Lost Planet 3 probably didn't have such grand sales ideas, but it was critically panned, especially by fans. Also people forget EX Troopers was released alongside 3 in JP, and also did poorly and wasn't extremely well received. Both of those games are okay, but they aren't Lost Planet.
RIP great franchises due to corporate greed/retardation.
Ripper in 2.
Double ripper in 3 gets an honorable mention for being the only weapon to not suck dick in spite of gutted upgrading and spammy encounters.
Based Javelin with the Ripper coming a close second.
DS1 used many panels with a fan in very obvious places and nothing happend. Mindgames.
Some sections are genuinely claustrophobic, though most of that comes from the opening sections of the game when you're exploring a bunch of derelict spaceships.
They retain a little bit of that in the ice planet section where you go into a bunch of underground bunkers, but it's watered down.
>play ds1
>oh shit spooky motherfuckers everywhere tryna kill me ded
>stare at every hole and vent I pass by
>nothing jumps out
>motherfuckers trying to trick me
>new rooms, new holes and vents
>wide berths and constant staring
>nothing again
>and again
>and again
>go through room i've been through 5,853 times without incident
>barely pass my eyes over holes and vents
>as if they'd actBLARGLAARGHFUCKSHIT
Fuck you and your supernaturally perfect nonchalance-targeting moments, visceral
Motherfucking DS1 force gun
Nail on head metaphor right here
god I was so very underwhelmed by the version of this gun in DS3. No weight to it at all.
Its a slow oversized overpowered laser cutter that's mostly made of heat sinks and it felt so damn good
>DS2's suit design is also better than DS1's, fight me
why would I? advance suit and security suit alone already look better than engineer suit
and don't forget vintage "buzz lightyear" suit
pulse rifle
mah nigga
>Elevator stops and lights go out for a brief momet
>Expect necromorphs
>Lights turn back on and it continues moving
Elevators had a a great deal of mindfuckery.
>that fucking disinfecting chamber in dead space 2
>ran up on that shit like 3 different times expecting the whole "GONNA GET LOCKED IN AND BUTTFUCKED"
>final time pranks you
I loved it.
DS1 was a solid RE4 clone. Amazing HUD and UI design. Fun game, worth the 30 I spent new.
DS2 was pretty good. Isaac speaking was a shame but a given, considering he now had a face. Javelin gun was neat. So were the spooky headbutt raptors.
DS3 had fun gun customization but only two or three legitimately GOOD weapons to minmax in design. Still loved making revolvers. Awful atory, though.
A lot of people, when bashing DS2 tend to go with the whole "suit design in DS1 was better because every suit made him look like an engineer on an average work day, and not like a fighter pilot like in DS2"
To each his own, I guess, but the curved/triangular visor on the advanced suit alone is enough to blow out the engineeering suit, in my opinion.
The only suit I have a legitimate problem with in 2 is the hacker suit due to how much open skin it leaves (he's basically just wearing a shirt and a jacket, nothing on his hands, and a gas mask) but the cold of space doesn't do shit to him.
To be fair that was supposed to be the point in DS1. 2s suits were definitely cool looking but I belong in the first category without a doubt. However, in 2 he's an escaped nutter so really, who cares? At that point his engineer pretense is almost all but abandoned and that's honestly fine, seeing as the first game sold like hotcakes and easily outshone most every shooter HUD i've ever seen.
Wasn't Hacker a DLC suit? I wouldn't look into it if so. I could be full of it. That game, like the first had like...what, five? Six pre-order/DLC outfit and weapon packs?
>space
>cold
>"suit design in DS1 was better because every suit made him look like an engineer on an average work day, and not like a fighter pilot like in DS2"
did everyone forget the armor plating in fully upgraded engineer suit?
It's unlocked by having a save file in some 2d DS game called ignition
An engineer on an average work day in space with micro meteorites, gravity malfunctions, heavy industrial equipment in zero-g, etc.
That's sort of iffy, the apparent consensus is that shit in sunlight can get way overheated, but things on the other side of the same structure that aren't in the sunlight can go to like -100 C
Yeah, that one left me a bit stupefied when I was looking at different playthroughs and saw someone go through the gunship scene with it on.
I think it's weird that they put it in since it's vastly out of line with every other suit in the game, but I would take innovation like that any day over the endless amount of security suit reskins and recolors that Dead Space 3 had to offer.
You couldn't buy it seperately? Huh.
Still, i'd ignore it. But thanks for the heads up.
I always thought of the engineering suit levels as being indicative of Isaac himself designing each piece. However, seeing as they're tiered to chapters and not(if I recall) to finding blueprints i'd also say their existence is a moot point for anything beyond a sense of progress than for actual design aesthetics.
I sure am glad it was free with GwG. Damn shame i'll likely never finish it for a 14th time.
You can unlock all DLC ever for Dead Space 2 on PC apart from the Severed campaign by downloading an easy to find savefile. That means all suits and weapons plus their variations (medic version of security suit etc.)
somehow the physics and collision are worse and movement is stiffer. also no scares. 6/10
Being a DLC item apparently tied to another purchase renders its existence for anything but look ma I got the thing void. However, by that logic almost all the weapons in 3 are just as fucking stupid when you consider that necromorphs were supposed to be akin to original RE zombies where with enough bullets they're literally too heavy to move but overall are only KILLED by seperating the tissue(head) instead of perforating it.
You're close
Shit in the vacuum of space can get overheated because it is absorbing energy, but it takes for fucking ever to lose heat because it's a vacuum. You'd feel really damn cold really quick if you came into contact with other, colder matter. But losing heat to the void would take time.
How did she die though?
>game series starts to get popular
>completely change everything that made the series good/unique in an attempt to cater to wider market
>game doesn't sell
>executives think people lost interest in series
>kill franchise
>repeat with next game
Wasn't there actually just an official patch that did that because of some fuck up? Like you couldn't get any of the retail/day one bullshit on PC which made some people mad so they just gave it all for free to people on PC?
performed a lethal injection on herself
it's shown in the scene right after Kendra locks you in and steals the marker in like chapter 12
ok fag
I'll be the first to admit Dead Space isn't very scary, but 1 and 2 are still some of my favorite games.
Sort of, both console suits and some other things were in the files and usable so the devs gave them out for free. Problem now is that playing it at the start, when you get to the first store you're overloaded with those bloody weapons in the menu. Only way to get rid of them is to find an older .exe and replace the current one.
No, the content was always in the game, but EA said the DLC would not find its way on PC. Some user created the savefile. You can find all the stuff in the locker of the shop when you launch the savegame. It starts a normal new game.
posting best suit
After the first 2 or 3 vent jumps I think it goes from "OH GOD WHAT" to "COME HERE FUCKER" for just about everyone.
Fuck the hunter though, something "unstoppable" banging around in the walls around you was mortifying.
Didn't 3 have a similar problem?
Not only that,I know for a fact that they removed the online pass limitations either due to legal reasons or due to a lack of purchases. Hell, I think EA and Ubi did that for all their older pass only MP games on consoles, right?
Visceral actually made some 'decent' Bond games too, as well as some pretty alright LotR games. I think they also made Hit 'n Run. Though I knoe they made Dante's Inferno and that was a mess in every way but visuals.
Did you even play the game, you dumb bitch?
I did a long time ago
I honestly never played either game without exclusively using the cutter 100% of the play through. That single gun makes the game for me, and the game wont give as much ammo for the other guns if you don't own them. In 1 you only get ammo for the cutter.
i don't care much for the DLC suits, but the most heinous sin of all is that they gate the objectively coolest looking suit in the game until you get to NG+ chapter 11
like, i'm already almost done with the game at that point; give it to me sooner so i can look cool as shit throughout the whole game
wrong pic, meant to post the elite advanced suit
force gun
>mfw somehow they made 2's forcegun even better
shit was op as fuck tords the end of the game, you can one shot most mobs even on zealot at point blank.
DS1 is Alien
DS2 is Aliens: The Director's Cut
DS3 is Alien3, which doesn't exist and never happened
aliens isn't my favourite film in the series, soooo
Dark space 2
DS2 is easily the best of the series. One of the best games I've ever played actually.
>Though I knoe they made Dante's Inferno and that was a mess in every way but visuals.
i thought its visuals were actually the poorest aspect of the game
combat was meh but the best part about the game was their take on the nine circles of hell and all the controversial imagery there within
>boss vomits out minions from her fucking nipples
>you fight satan with his cock dangling around as he performs his attacks
>Expect this every single time
>The one time I let my guard down it drops down on top of me
Yeah, been waiting for a while now. The second was great, but there has only been total radio silence since then.
How long has it been? 5 years? About time for a new Dead Space titel.
Not sure if I liked one or two better. I'm probably more impressed that two was done so well when the second game in a series is usually shit.
The third just pissed me off with the forced love triangle, less horror more generic shooter vibe. Along with what felt like a forced, drastic change from the story (That ending/end boss didn't seem like it should have been).
Like this guy said:
It was one of the better original IPs in the last 10 years.
Remember in DS2 when you were making your way to the AI core and the body of the station watchman dropped down on Isaac? Also I wish there were more moments like this kind of threats, where Necromorphs are in mix with the security measures.
>Sometimes there is more than one kind of right
Dead Space 3 is the most terrible game I have ever played in my life. There is no pile of shit that can compare to it.
Dead Space 2 very clearly sacrificed some of the spooks for straight up better gunplay, and while I'll admit its much less scary (but still has its moments), the overall game was better for it, and so I still think its the best one in the series.
The Video She Sent was actually a Video Suicide Note, a few seconds after it "Cuts" she injects herself with something and collapses.
Bet, reboot. This E3. Presented by dice.
I'm glad they dropped all the horror pretense for part 2. The only 'scary' thing Dead Space 1 that was jump scares. I was able to predict every single one in the entire game.
>I was able to predict every single one in the entire game.
'i'm too smart for things to scare me'
Yes, I will never forget that. Scared the everliving fuck out of me.
Now with microtransactions, co-op, and more chest high walls for intense action setpieces. Gun down the merciless hordes of necromophs!
Also Isaac's a woman now.
...
As someone too smart to fall for the """"horror"""" elements of the first game, i'm glad you shoot things in the second and third games instead. this is because i'm smart enough to play manshoot games on an intellectual level
