If I try a new game I can usually dominate other new people, but as soon as other people start to improve they end up being massively better than me.

I used to be like this in RTS but I think nowadays I'll get facerolled. Back in C&C's prime days I just logged in if it worked and just raped people. I played RTS all the time so it wasn't that hard to get used to a new game with same mechanics

Well I count new entries to the same series as a new game mostly.

When Sm4sh came out, everyone was mad that I was doing so well when I told them I had played since 64. Now things are evening out with my friends since they've had it for a while, but I generally still come out on top. This applies to nearly every fighting game as well. Also most Puzzle games and shooters.

The game is still new and you probably lucked out with a good weaponset / build on your first character.

Also you played the previous games while a lot of people you come across might not have.

Being okay at best while searching out pvp in DaS probably means you're more skilled than 90% of the other people playing.

You are playing low level players than since med-high level players are on a whole other level.

I did it once, in a Naruto GNT 4 tournament in my college.
It was my first year and all the others were like 6 years older than me. I told them It was my first time playing it. I even choose the base Naruto and Maito Guy.
