Are there any notable obscure games from well-known franchises?

Apparently there was a Zelda 1 remake released for the Super Famicom. I am curious whether there are any other little known titles for major popular franchises.

BS Zelda is hardly a remake.

i used to think the bs games were rom hacks

Fake and gay

Yoshi's Safari, on the SNES? I never hear anyone mention that game, ever, despite the fact that Yoshi is the main character.

.

Kirby Star Stacker.

its a crappy little gimmick shooter thats why

there was also a game called mario and wario where you had to guide the characters to the end by clicking blocks with the snes mouse

Because it's a terrible super scope game. Nothing special about it. It's not talked about because it's mediocre, not that it's obscure.
that games was in my super game boy and SNES more than literally any other game ever. I think I had well over 2000 hours spent on that game. I loved it. Only puzzle game I ever erally enjoyed. It didn't do anything too special but I can't stand other puzzle games.

DOOM RPG
Majin Tensei
Crystal Chronicles
koudelka

>Pre WW
>Obscure and saddening parts like the doomed flute player In AlttP,Link's ruined childhood In OoT and pretty much MM In general

>post WW
>They take away the gothic part of LoZ to make It more lighthearted and soccer mom approved

I mean I guess TP kind of manages, but they just killed off stuff that makes you feel.

but muh dark and gritty broh !!! XD

Mario and Wario has a pretty big cult following in Japan.

i did not know that

What are you trying to say? It's not like they were pure tears and depression either, they had a balance of both.

A story with sad parts are far more thought provoking then sunshine and lollipops.

>Zelda
>gothic

Yeah

...

Is TLoZ: Ancient Stone Tablets worth playing? Is it the same overworld and altered dungeons like a Master Quest? Is it just dungeons? Tell me about it.

Speaking of actually good Super Scope games, did anybody here ever play Battle Clash or Metal Combat? I feel like they were the perfect example of what a Super Scope game could and should be.

Plus it was super fun to find different ways to pick apart the enemy STs, or even finding the special OHK on occasion.

This level of nostalgia fagging is off the charts!

Get fucked.

Why Zelda fans are always this autistic?

Pokemon snap, apparently

none of my friends have ever heard of it and theyre pokemon fanatics

Mario 64 was ported to the 64DD and one of the only known dumps has an error in it that causes crashing in a specific spot of the game

There is also a wolfinstein rpg.

The only autismal one here is the one who describes the first 5 Zelda games as "Gothic"

That is not Legend of Zelda on SNES. That is BS Zelda, a game transmitted to special devices via satellite which had timed missions with broadcasted audio and voice. It's similar to Zelda 1, except that the map was smaller, than each play was a timed "mission" to complete, and that audio triggers indicated power-ups or power-downs which lasted a specific amount of time.

I think there was a LoZ release on SNES, but it's just a graphics upgrade port. Kind of like the SNES Dragon Quest titles.

>Is TLoZ: Ancient Stone Tablets worth playing?
That is only A Link to the Past, but with a different character sprite and a few little extras. If you don't mind playing the game again, it shouldn't be too bad.

>Majin Tensei
Only if all the SMT you play is Persona.
Meanwhile
>japan gets a VC release, yet we still haven't even gotten a translation of the first or the second
Fuck this gay earth.
>Crystal Chronicles
>obscure
You faggots never shut the fuck up about it.

Basically any games released on Satellaview or 64DD are pretty obscure. 64DD has a few Mario Paint sequels, plus an F-Zero expansion. Satellaview had a decent amount of games, none of which have ever been officially re-released (except BS Fire Emblem, which was included in the Japanese exclusive Holy War remake).

Also, WiiWare and DSiWare have some obscure ones too, and I'm not sure if they'll ever get re-releases. WiiWare has an Excitebike and Dr. Mario games, as well as three Japanese exclusive Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, and Pokemon Ranch (good way to get Mew without events). Also, Art Style games.

DSiWare has more Art Style games, another shit Dr Mario game, X-Scape (a sequel to a Game Boy game).

That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

>WiiWare has an Excitebike and Dr. Mario games, as well as three Japanese exclusive Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, and Pokemon Ranch (good way to get Mew without events). Also, Art Style games.
Everyone with a brain knew about these.
A shame the PMD games weren't that good though.

I think they were just an excuse to reuse the stupid amount of models they made for Ranch.

I looked into it some more on my own, and everything seems to say that it has entirely new dungeons though. Exaggeration?

Nah, that was pokemon rumble.
PMD wiiware came after that.

Alright, sorry. It looks like I was confusing the titles.

There were four BS Zelda games that came out. Both BS Zelda Map 1 and BS Zelda Map 2 are the original Legend of Zelda. The dungeons were completely different. The overworld was mostly similar for Map 1 and while Map 2 had a different overworld. Also, it has timed events with voices announcing it happened.

Ancient Stone Tablets was sort of a "sequel" to Link to the Past, using the different avatar. Some dungeons were similar and some different, and like BS Zelda, it had some voice acted areas in the game.

The fourth game was just a port of Link to the Past.

JUST

>Apparently there was a Zelda 1 remake released for the Super Famicom.
Yes, I'm aware.

>I am curious whether there are any other little known titles for major popular franchises.
I guess Starfox 2 would count.

OP wanted stuff from popular series, thats the best I could do

starfox 2 never came out

This is just giving me Zelda Classic urges.

Official Zelda Maker when, Nintendo?

They should really release all those on the eShop. There can't be more than like, 10000 people in the world who've played them

This isn't a remake though. Lots of information got lost with the recreation attempt

>Starfox 2 never came out

For all intents and purposes, neither did Zelda BS. It was basically streamed over a service, and only in japan. You have to use a rom or a rom on a modified cart to even be able to play it, just like Zelda BS.

Crystal fucking Chronicles.

Semi-remake with online/local multiplayer with overhauled menus when? Seriously that game would print money. Plus they could DLC more levels out the ass. I know id buy them.

Don't deflect your autism.

there were 2 sequels for the DS, should just let it die

I thought one of the wii ones was online cross play with DS? either way I agree someone needs to take that game and make it online.

Except those were hardly the same. They over complicated certain parts of the gameplay, and dumbed down others. They lost the musical and visual style, and the progression of both games was janky as fuck.

Echoes of time was a simultaneous Wii/DS release, it was the exact same game on both, and I believe the multiplayer was shared.

I'm talking about the GameCube original though. None of the follow up games came close, before being murdered by the Crystal Bearers.

>8 year old me finds Yoshi's Safari at Family Video.
> use up all of my allowance to rent it.
> get home, can't play cause it needs super scope
>Spend the weekend watching the intro demo on repeat

Fuck the super scope

it's because Nintendo hates Koizumi. He's the guy who made the story for Link's Awakening and put all the dark/character moments in MM+coming up with the moon idea/time travel mechanics. Nintendo and especially Miyamoto just hate story in games though, that's why Koizumi had to sneak in Rosalina's back story as a storybook, for example.
