Doom is a ~10h campaign, you'd be hard-pressed to get more out of it
If you're into OW you can probably get hundreds of hours out of it

but you'll be bored in 90% of it

If I was a masochist I could also go for a ultra nightmare run, of course that one can take dozens of hours if you keep dying halfway in
But for the average guy it's about 20h max

I'm taking my time with it too and I have around 11 hours and I'm up to slightly after where you get the BFG. I'm enjoying it and playing on UV.

And if you like OW as a game it's going to provide more, that's just the nature of multiplayer games

I just really don't trust blizzard after 2008. It feels like they tried to rip off dota and like team fortress style game play in one game, and while I haven't played it myself, I just don't think blizzard is what they used to be. Too much pandering to sjws and shitting on their own franchises lore and gameplay wise.

So, yeah, if he never experienced blizzard in their prime, he might not care. if he did, I can't see anyone willingly giving blizzard money again after they ruined literally every franchise they made.

If you like it then you'll probably get more playtime out of Overwatch. Look up some gameplay I guess, it's a pretty decent game but probably the kind that's only fun with friends.

Otherwise Doom, I'd consider it the better game, but I'd recommend renting that since you can beat it in about two days.

If you want bang for your buck get OW. I have over 40 hours in the betas and full game already.

I play both currently. I prefer Dooms faster multiplayer mostly, but Overwatch gives me that old time TF2 feeling. I like playing both, it's like when I used to play UT and TF2.

I dont think Blizzard will focus on triple A games anymore, they found goose with golden eggs when they created Hearthstone, Hots and now Overwatch, they saw what microtransactions can bring to the table and how little maintenance these games require so i wont be surprised if they scrap WoW totally.

It's a shame that we've already lived through the age of game studios actually standing by and giving a fuck about their products. You can tell that old blizzard, old westwood, and even old bioware were legitimately people that not only made games but played them too. Most things to come out now are soulless cash grabs, and it's why despite my friends saying HEY COME PLAY OVERWATCH XD it isn't going to happen.

I miss Red Alert 2, SC1, Diablo2, and even DA:O/Mass Effect 1.

Doom, easily. Obviously there's no comparison between single player content, but both multiplayer portions aren't great, just casual fun that's relatively shallow, I prefer Doom's multiplayer to OW's but I think that puts me in the minority here. Also worth noting that OW is 20 dollars cheaper.

because it isn't illegal. They sell keys from others areas as far as I know, so it's like you're buying a game while abroad and then bringing it home and activating it on your steam account, which is perfectly legal.

I'm the guy you replied to. The way these sites work, since apparently you're too slow to grasp it the first time, is that they buy the games in poor areas and then resell the keys.

In other words, they go to shit countries like Romania or Venezuela and buy it there. Meaning: the "devs" get their cut of whatever 3rd world currency at that time. They then resell with a slight mark-up to other people which will look like a huge discount to them. So, if the game is bought for the equivalent of $20 USD in Romania, the devs get $20. Then it might be resold for $30 USD, which to an American is a huge discount from $60 but still the same exact game and the devs still got their cut.

Because I just finished D44M on Nightmare and got nothing. I do remember however getting some Steam popup when I finished the first mission on Hurt Me Plenty.

Speaking of Nightmare, anyone else find it weird how Ultra Violence in Doom 1 is easier than in D44M, but Nightmare in D44M is easier than in Doom 1?

I can't vouch for Overwatch, and it's already well stated that the SP is great in Doom, but I've been enjoying the MP far more than I thought I would.

It feels much closer to the arena shooters of old, and I'm afraid that the MP is gonna die out in a few months.

Whats the closest game you can compare it to? It looks like tf2 to me with a blizzard paint job. I don't think I'd pay $40 for a reskinned cash grab game.

Playing on PC? It's commonly agreed that the MP for Doom is trash, and the icing on the cake is that they're releasing DLC to segment an already small community, so if you're an MP guy, play Overwatch. Alternatively just do research on doom MP if you're really curious.

It's not fast, you spawn with two weapons of your choice and can't pick up anymore, the poor speed in strafing makes dodging very weak and thus very easy to track with mouse aim so many fights just boil down to who shot first a la COD (unless you get armor which isn't going to happen all the time, etc

But actually, you know, Overwatch isn't really like an arena shooter at all, so I guess you are right that DOOM is much closer to that genre, but is still too far for my liking

-It shouldn't have hack modules because they give players boosts and temporary cheats and it gives noobs an advantage

-It should have bunnyhop because unpatched glitches should be considered features and you should need to git gud to move fast

Doom 1 did in fact have rocket jumps. You are expected to use one to get to the secret level teleporter in the Inferno episode along with the invulnerability powerup so you don't wreck yourself whilst doing so. Was also a thing in doom2.
