DmC

Honestly why did they even want to reboot this series anyway? Why couldn't it just have been a shitty sequel instead? I don't see how they gained anything from rewritting the plot, they could have introduced any settings or characters they wanted, the lore isn't too restrictive.

This is how you make trailers.

>the lore isn't too restrictive
In fact it is. We've seen pretty much all of the most important conflicts in the DMCverse. Mundus was be-all end-all demon boss. And Dante has only grown stronger since defeating him. Vergil, who is a fan favorite, has already exhausted all his possible opportunities for a meaningful appearance since he dies shorty after 3. And everything that would be set before 3 would be basically about Dante and Vergil as kids which is a questionable option. And if we're going further down the line we're stuck with uncle Dante that can jokingly solo anything in the world and Nero who's at this point happily devastating Kyrie's ass 24/7 without a care in the world.

It's odd too, especially since DMC4 is the best selling game in the series, you don't have to have an end of the world plot to make DMC interesting anyways.

...

DMC4 didn't sell that much better than DMC1 and DMC3+SE, considering the fact that it was the first actual multiplat in the series. Also it also had the longest and most expensive development of DMC games up to that point.

Capcom started outsourcing all their stuff to save money, and they thought while they were at it they could have some cheap western dev reskin DMC to make it even more accessible to the west.

It doesn't seem like putting Mundus and Vergil out of commission has to end the series though, there's still plenty of exploration about Sparda that could be done. Arkham was tied to this and I say he was a better villain than Mundus anyway.

And since this is demons were talking about it wouldn't be weird at all if some other Mundus level demon just emerged out of no where and took the throne. As for Dante being too OP, that's pretty typical, like 2 enemies max in any given game can make him drop a sweat.

I'm your prom date you ugly sack of shit

Que te jodas

Capcom was 100% chasing that normalfag westacuck money last gen.
It's not just DMC too, Lost Planet got hit hard too with the true last good Lost Planet game being japan exclusive to this day, while we got a crap Lost Planet "3"
RE6 being full of cinematic bullshit also

Basically it's all Inafune's fault.

And yet peoples gave him 4 millions for a MegaShit clone

The reboot is easily the best game in the series.

kek

It was made back when Capcom was in it's "we want the calladooty audience / must appeal to western teenagers" phase. See RE5, RE6, REOPRC, LP3, DR3.

new DmC was definitely better than 4

All of which were greenlit when Inafune was VP of game development. Same guy who thinks Japanese studios are horse shit and western studios and tastes are superior.

Yep.

>Mundus was be-all end-all demon boss
I think you're forgetting someone who's even stronger

>All of the most important conflicts in the DMCverse

Most, but not all :^)

>Sparda
>Rebellion

well then why's he dead and Mundus alive?

Weaker than Dante and dead

he gave up all his power to seal the Demon World Off.

I mean, that is the ENTIRE PLOT of DMC3, the villian wants his sealed power where the Seal to the Demon World was put

...

I love that such an important figure to the overall story of DMC.. is a Knightly Cockroach.

seriously, his design is based off a Cockroach!

youtu.be/vntJnHhc7qE

Capcom was just too lazy

...

Appreciate me yet, Sup Forums?

>he gave up all his power to seal the Demon World Off.
>I mean, that is the ENTIRE PLOT of DMC3
All I recall is some of his own blood and Lady's ancestor.

Arkham says something like "he sacrificed his own Devils blood and a mortal priestess". He makes it very clear the chick died in that sentence so it makes no sense why he'd be vague about Sparda's death if that was the intention.

all of Sparda's power is in Force Edge/Sparda which is the key "Key" to keeping the seal shut.

Ninja theory are a bunch of autistic retards

The only good thing to come out of DmC was the gameplay. Though casual and easy to pull off, it's too satisfying.

Kek no DMC2 is the worst of the bunch. At least DmC is playable DMC2 is just one painful mess with best looking Dante.

that makes more sense

DmC is a better game than DMC2.

honestly, the game was like a parody of itself and everything we hated about it.

it was.. somewhat amusing just how bad it really was.

Yes
Atleast DMC 2 had atmosphere and didnt completely ruin dante's character

>didnt completely ruin dante's character
I've honestly forgotten but are you positive that Dante ever even smiled in that game?

>and didnt completely ruin dante's character

Stop trying to fit in. DMC2 raped Dante as much as DmC did by turning a super chilled out yet cocky motherfucker into a near mute freak that had less emotion than Venom Snake.

I wouldnt have minded DmC if it was called something else. DMC is my favorite series and It would have just been another action game with subpar combat like darksiders or GoW. But then the journalist and tameem had to through a fit and taunt everyone who didnt want this giant steaming shit they were shoving on us.

capcom doesnt want to make games.

NT offered a cheap outsource for an IP that otherwise would be stagnant.

It's not like the series wasn't already tainted.

> by turning a super chilled out yet cocky motherfucker into a near mute freak that had less emotion than Venom Snake.

Did we play the same game? He was chill, and that's it. The most character we got out of him in 2 was when we flipped the coin near the end and went into hell tricking the girl

Atleast he didnt have fuck you battles with a larva. Also where am I trying to fit in? Many people still hate DMC2 the most

Okay but why was NT's game a reboot?

>2 out of 4 games are shit before DmC arrives
>favorite series

>And if we're going further down the line we're stuck with uncle Dante that can jokingly solo anything in the world
Just create an actual clean that Dante has to *gasp* try against. Granted, he may have always been a wisecracking cocksure sob since 3, you still had to try because the game was still pretty fucking hard.

Just create an interesting villain.

>and Nero who's at this point happily devastating Kyrie's ass 24/7 without a care in the world.
Got a hearty chuckle out of this.

I dont mind DMC2
It was a stepping stone for trickster style with the aerial combat and dodging. Had the best dante design and I really enjoyed the devil trigger customization and most of the level aesthetics.

I will accept it had some pretty glaring flaws like shoot being the best option 90% of the time and how generally easy it was.

>2 out of 4

Why do people say this?
We already have two great opportunities for a new DMC, like a prequel for DMC2 explaining Dante's edginess, or a sequel to DMC2 showing that the motorcycle revving Lucia heard was Red Queen all along.

I only played the original Devil May Cry on PS2.
Is this (DmC) worth playing? It's sitting in my backlog and I can't decide between it, Dark Souls and Binary Domain.

Hell, you could just ignore DMC2 all together and go different route entirely, they can go anywhere they want with the series. Restrictive my ass, how about a game where you're only in hell the majority of the time because the villian is trying to unseal Mundus? Maybe have Vergil's spirit guide you farther down.

Or maybe we introduce heaven while a new demon is trying to conquer it?

Horrible idea

Fuck off mobile user

That's also a possibility, the series is really at the point to where Itsuno could take it wherever he wanted.

DMC5 never

Dark souls or binary... i liked dmc but because i didnt like the exagerated animu edginess of the first ones. I can tolerate the manchildren character of the last one, at least donte suffers an evolution (very forced is true) . All dontes are shit, problaby the first ones have better gameplay and the last one its the least plastic emotion donte...

Thisthisthis.

If it was some other franchise entirely that had nothing to do with devil may cry, people would fucking love it because it's ACTUALLY a serviceable action game.

However, Dante doesn't look like an anime superstar so now people hate it.

Don't get me wrong, gameplay wise, squinty DMC(I personally started on 3)was leagues beyond ninja theory but for people to act like it was an abomination is totally doing the game a disservice.

It was the foundation of the style system. As bad as it was it at least contributed to the series.

DmC did nothing to further the series in any conceivable way.

You can look forward to more Dante in Project x Zone sequels

Devil May Cry was too anime and they wanted a western developer to westernize it for a western audience. For the most part they accomplished that, western mainstream dug the whole "fuck you" "I'm a rebel" "fuck Lilith right in the pussy" energy drink plot device and the need to tell Japan that they're just a bunch of gay cowboys.

It could just be some other land but why exactly is that setting so horrible?

>western mainstream dug the whole "fuck you" "I'm a rebel" "fuck Lilith right in the pussy" energy drink plot device

A few vocal tards perhaps but most didn't even bother with it, hence why it's the worst selling Devil May Cry ever. Twice.

>Mundus was be-all end-all demon boss

Not really.

Mundus fucked over Argosax and took over, it isn't impossible that there's much stronger demons out there. Even Phantom's description hints at stronger demons possibly lurking around.

There's plenty of opportunity to introduce a character that can pull a bit of seriousness out of Dante.
