Games you are shit at but enjoy

ITT: Games that plainly revealed just how shit you are at video games

Fucking Sora. I love this little game, but damn, I can't even reliably beat the final EX level on Easy. I managed to get the first and second levels down on Hard with a lot of trouble and felt accomplished, but then I saw that I unlocked the fucking Special difficulty.

I feel like this thing was designed for people on another plane of existence. Ironically, I find the standard bullet hells like 2hu easier, actually, because you always move at a consistent speed and the bullets, all things considered, actually move at a pretty slow pace. Having to boost and keep track of which portions of the screen have live vs energy bullets on them (hence which parts you can boost through since you can dash through energy shots) is very difficult in comparison, at least for me.

C'mon Sup Forums you know there's at least SOMETHING you're bad at.

If you think sora is hard, you should try SUGURI.

I thought AoS had more broken shit in it, though?
In Sora, you've got that one sword and that's it.

Do you still have really fun weapons like the buster in AoS?

AoS is a fighting like game and plays nothing like SUGURI or sora. Also you can unlock few melee weapons in sora.

Oh, I didn't know that Acceleration of SUGURI was a different game.

I just meant that reading through the wiki for Sora, it seems like things were generally more powerful in SUGURI than Sora. Is the game really that much harder?

Suguri and Sora use a totally different skillset from standard shumps. They focus more on twitch reflex and timing rather than precision weaving. Also since the action is happening from all directions at once, it's a lot harder to read the incoming bullet waves even though there's less of them than in standard shooters. The controls are much more complex than standard shumps as well. You can't just hold down the fire button, every attack limits your mobility in some way and with the cancel system you require a good input rhythm to use most weapons effectively.

I'd say it's closer to something like Megaman without gravity with some slight fighting game or beat-em-up like elements worked in. I'm sure even an expert shump player would be challenged by Sora just due to the difference in required skills.

Darius Gaiden.
I just want to 1cc the hard route but Storm Causer is too hard.

Dark Souls. I've put in around one hundred hours across several saves and still can't beat ceratin bosses without summoning.
Also, Etrian Osyssey. I had to drop U1 at the ant queen due to not even being able to get a quarter of her health down on Expert.

SUGURI is much harder, but I heard some of the weapons are way too strong and can easily beat the game with.

I'm stuck against Nanako on normal. Fuck her

I think RTS games like pic are comfy, but I suck at them.

What is Suguri doing?

Shin Megami Tensei.

Hm, yeah, there's also an extra layer of difficulty from having to actually work with vastly different weapon types and all, since a lot of the time it's just up to personal preference and deciding what works and what doesn't for you.

And then there's also boss strategy that you have to do, deciding which weapons will let you take out their conventional projectiles.

I mean, I still haven't gotten the hang of dash cancelling. Look at this fucking guy, though: youtube.com/watch?v=K2rIVWp9Itk
Totally on a whole different level than me.

Those bits are fucking brutal. I would know. She's my 100% OJ main.

Is it just micromanagement that you can't into? I've never been able to, either. Starcraft just hurts my brain.

>SMT IV

I don't "enjoy" these games but they did show me I suck at videogames that require more advanced techniques.

...

New 100% Orange Juice DLC when

You tell me

>Is it just micromanagement that you can't into?
Yep, I always keep forgetting something, and when I notice I'm being raped by turks

Beat em ups. Played The Punisher for probably 30+ hours now and the furthest I've gotten on one credit was level 6, and only a couple of times. Can't even make it past the stage 3 boss reliably. Oh well, genre's fun as fuck either way.

Umihara deserves more fans

Accelerating

Play Soul Hackers, you donĀ“t know how much you really suck yet.

Most games, actually. I'm never consistently good at videogames, I can get good sometimes but only sometimes.
That said, I'm struggling to think of games I'm consistently bad at that I still enjoy; I don't tend to have fun when I'm losing, especially on multiplayer.

Good game, OP.

>I can't even reliably beat the final EX level on Easy
Hime is just bullshit. Getting past her is the hard part. Suguri is do-able.

Skullgirls

Hime is easy once you realize her red lasers are energy bullets, and her wing hyper is always the same pattern

How do the Suguri/Sora people fly anyway?

I did notice that Suguri seemed not incredibly difficult by comparison, but I had so little shield left that it didn't matter. Hime fucking wrecks me every time. Are you invulnerable to energy while cancelling a dash into another dash? That would make dealing with the dual sword-pinwheel bullshit significantly easier.

Skullgirls I can deal with. Guilty Gear leaves my ass sore in comparison.

I wouldn't feel so bad. Those are arcade games designed to get you to spend a lot of quarters. They always border on bullshit.

Thanks.

I was never able to beat the 3rd stage.

Sora's working title was: "Getting Murdered by a Tranny in the Desert Simulator 2010"

Who?

I want to accelerate with Suguri.

>Those are arcade games designed to get you to spend a lot of quarters. They always border on bullshit.
Maybe but I don't have these issues with shoot em ups, run & guns or platformers. Trying to finish beat em ups makes me feel like I'm missing some important mechanic that makes the games more manageable.

Skullgirls was my first fighting game since street fighter II on arcades.
It took me 3 hours to beat the story mode only twice (with cerebella and eliza), it was so satisfying to finally be able I beat the final 'boss' in a fighting game. I also lost about 10 pounds because of how much I sweat.
After that I never touched a fighting game ever again.

Mira

I always thought the boss was the giant robot.
Now I guess it's impossible to me to beat this game.

Just keep rocket spamming right when the giant robot comes down and finish it off with a hyper. Easy kill

Have you unlocked all the weapons? Some weapons make some of the bosses almost trivial.

You unlock weapons just by finishing a stage/dying so I would stick with it.

That particular miniboss was pretty easy once you unlock the machine gun.

Classic FPSes, but most of all Blood and Serious Sam TFE/TSE

I love them to death, but man do they fuck me a third nostril because of me always playing on the highest difficulties and me being unable to process actions more complex than "run forward and hold fire"

Yuki (Dangerous) never

Your approach is really bad. Try running backwards and holding fire instead.

well then that wouldn't be an "approach," now would it?

The secret is dash-cancel rockets. You'll deal out tons more DPS and you'll start getting better at doing short controlled dashes.

I suck at bullet hells in general and usually struggle to beat them on easy. Just really not my thing.

Also, I want to hug Aru. Not even trying to make a sex joke or anything, I just want to legit give her a hug.

I've heard that there is this secret technique called "dodging the attacks", but I never managed to get the hang of it.

Sounds like some sorf ot black magic if you ask me.

I'd snuggle the Poppo.

I'm sure she would love to give you a hug, too, user.

Aru loves people.

I'll let Kae suck my dick

Funny, those are the exact words I was going to say

Aru is probably the nicest person around, she doesn't deserve all the bullying
