I'm about to buy it right now. Buddy of mine is playing so we can play together, and unlike TF2 I haven't already played hundreds of hours of it and know it inside and out. I would absolutely agree TF2 is better in every way, but you can only play a multiplayer shooter so much before you want to die. Overwatch is getting my shekels simply because there's no real competition that isn't complete unplayable ass that I haven't already played to the point of sickness. It's not a ringing endorsement but it's the truth.

Everyone seems to have forgotten than tf2 wasn't always free.
I bought it when it before it became free to play and got more than my money's worth in play time, it was also the most fun before it became free to play for all the shitters to come in and ruin it with conga lines, meme loadouts and "friendly" teams.

It is kind of depressing, but consider what other multiplayer shooter alternatives there are. It's either shit you've played assloads of already, or it's an ever so slight change like CSGO or whatever the latest CoD is. I would be happy if Natural Selection 2 had a larger community for example, but it wasn't to be.

It's a decent shooter. Personally I think the game has even more bullshit mechanics than tf2 does but you also get a better playerbase. Overwatch also likes to appeal to new players because most heroes are piss easy to play and even people who don't play fps games can have the feeling that they're supporting their team.

Since it's still downloading, here's what I thought was fun in the beta. Constant hero swapping, good variety of movement skills, and as shameful as it is the matchmaking and "Party" system is really great for drop in/drop out playing with buds. Mechanically almost everything is a smidge worse than TF2, maps are a whole lot of nothing, and the fluff (Character designs, voices) are god-awful, but it scrapes by.

Basically it's hard to recommend if you're not already burnt out on everything, but if you are then it does the important shit passably and is mildly different than everything else out there, even its closest competitor which is TF2.

My biggest issue is that nobody knows how to properly play, every team I've played against is ten levels higher than the ones I'm on which are filled with people playing almost exclusively offense, regardless of the mode.
