ITT games that would be better off as a different game
Pic related should have been a first person Silent Hill. Good level design, great lighting, passable combat... just tweak it a bit. I'm at the point where you start using plasma gun and can't take the tedium anymore. Setpieces in this game aren't fit for an action shooter.
wtf drugs are you on user, the SH series already went to shit, no need to fuck it up even more.
Dylan Powell
Honestly Doom 3 was fine. It's still good, just very different from past Dooms.
And Doom 4 blows it the fuck out of the water. Doom 4's single player honestly has shocked me by how much fun it is.
Ayden Lewis
They can only get better now that Kojima is out of the picture.
shit map design qte finishers zero lighting zero TECHNOLOGY
Alexander Ward
oh yeah totally agree with you user
Bentley Russell
You're just proving my point with pointless criticism. I'd play the shit out of SH pachinko machine, wouldn't you? That doesn't mean they'd quit the mainstay series.
Asher Gomez
What they shouldve done is split the series. Survival horror went by the name biohazard and rooty tooty as resident evil or vice versa
Zachary Reed
>They can only get better now that Kojima is out of the picture. you're fucking skewed man kojima was the only one who could save it, and now you expect what's left of konami to somehow unfuck it after they already killed it? you have some weird ideas dude
Tyler Gray
i don't understand you at all you were just saying how a first person silent hill would be cool and yet you somehow think that silent hills and kojima getting canned is somehow good for the series? are you huffing gasoline?
Jack King
Well, I guess. I'd like them to do a combo because while I respect the fixed camera angles of 1-3 the whole movement scheme is too unituitive and punishing in a sense it kills my will to get better at it, it's discouraging. Also 4 had superior shooting not just because you could actually aim but because body parts responded to shots.
Kojima killed his own series by not understanding what made it good in the first place, from the bossfights onwards. You really think Kojima out of all people could design puzzles? He'd have a SH version of Clippy in the corner offering straightforward solutions to simplistic stuff.
I think Kojima is the most overrated gameplay designer in history and most of the stuff he's lauded for have nothing to do with him - namely the writing of MGS 1-3, and the design of mechanics and bosses.
Grayson Cooper
this has to be bait, you cant be this clueless about konami
Dylan Bailey
doom 3 would have been better if they'd named it 'boring dark corridor shooter #5,354'
Gabriel Cruz
I don't blame Konami for firing Kojima. He wasted 7 years of total company dedication to his 'vision' in order to deliver MGS V.
Then he straight up started pimping literally whos like Reedus and bringing on board Guillermo "box office poison" Del Toro. Just to ramp up extra cost at the very beginning. Oh and did you forget how 'good' Castlevania games he was involved with were?
Adam Morgan
Resi 4 has the same movement controls as 1,2,3,0,Remake,cvx did
Camden Allen
What? No.
Bentley Lewis
Hot opinions, the post.
Jeremiah Perez
konami is pretty much all but done with AAA console games, they've said this before. youre not going to see metal gear, silent hill, contra, or castlevania anymore
Joshua Sanchez
nigga, even if you think kojima is the crappiest game designer to ever live, it still would have been better than what konami is doing with the franchise now I.E. jack fucking shit silent hills was the last chance silent hill had, and they snuffed it out. it's dead now.
Luis Myers
>Reedus >Literal Who
Except that's wrong.
Julian Parker
Not really. It's kinda sad to be viewed that way when it's been a decade since MGS 3. That's like calling Team Ico a creativelly bankrupt studio that couldn't design AI to the point that they replicated their infinitely weaker game in order to at least make some money off it.
Nathan Ortiz
That's not what he's talking about. Konami is pretty much dropping retail gaming altogether. How were you not aware of this?
Connor Morris
Not sure about that, my main draw to it came from the engine, not Kojima. PT was an extremely weak effort on all fronts save the visual one.
And nothing stops him for making a spiritual clone of SH, but he instead went to cover based shooters or something. He will be outed as a hack to mainstream public in the next three years and spend the final decade of his career as an Japanese Tim Schaefer.
Oh yes, the luminous Reedus of Walking Dead fame. Because you bought Fallout for Liam Neeson, right?
I am aware of it, I just don't think they were wrong to fire Kojima.
Adrian Thomas
To be completely fair, Kojima had absolutely no input in Lords of Shadow. He just lent them the engine (thus giving him a tiny-ass "co-producer" role which means practically nothing).
That was just MercuryStream being a shit company.
Dominic Bailey
i'm not even debating kojima's merit as a game designer at this point, i'm just amazed at what a profoundly ignorant and shortsighted idea it is that silent hill will somehow get better because hideo kojima isn't involved anymore newsflash, the last silent hill game was a bargain bin portable isometric RPG shitter in **2012**, but kojima would have made things worse?
Camden Miller
>I'm aware of it >That doesn't mean they'd quit the mainstay series.
I don't think you were.
Chase Richardson
>That doesn't mean they'd quit the mainstay series.
>I am aware of konami no longer making silent hill
youre a complete idiot
Angel Sanchez
To be frank it's impossible to make things worse after western devs finished with Silent Hill, but Shattered Memories was better than anything Kojima did since MGS 3.
I don't think Konami is leaving games industry forever, no.
Bentley Wilson
Well, you're kind of right. They specifically said PES is still going to keep going.
Otherwise, they've already said they're focusing on mobile shit and slot machines, since those are the only things they've been seeing a profit on for years now.
Dylan Reyes
i love how you completely miss the main point of every post in this thread, im sorry user theres no hope for you.
William Gomez
If Pachinko counts as a part of the games industry then sure yeah
Jonathan Jones
>Shattered Memories better than MGS4, PW, and even V
Atleast these games fucking worked.
Chase Ross
Speaking of Mercury Stream.
>mfw retards really thought that game they were teasing was a new Contra title
Lucas Martinez
i think you're starting to realize how incredibly out of touch you are and now you're backpedaling they went out of their way to totally abort a silent hill reboot, they don't make serious games anymore, they're just a dying entertainment conglomerate of shit
Jaxon Murphy
Badass Biohazard.
Jace Wilson
That was clearly a Contra C
Did any games ever come of this? a Castlevania game? i forgot
Xavier Anderson
Yeah, not that hard to make a featureless polygon with bullet sponges and endless succession of sequestrated audio logs.
Hunter Nguyen
>i'd play the shit out of a pachinko machine no user, absolutely no one would
>doesn't mean they'd quit the mainstay series that's exactly what they've done
Adam Scott
>bait: the post
0/10, try harder next time faggot
Owen Gutierrez
The only people out of touch are those that haven't been following Kojima's career in the last 10 years.
Same people that think Del Toro's Mountains of Madness movie would be good AFTER watching horrendous crap he shits out in the meantime.
Landon Lopez
That wasn't what he was referring to. Mercury Stream posted a teaser about a year ago. People thought it was supposed to be a new Contra. It turned out to be some multiplayer shit.
And no, whatever that Contra teaser was, it's obviously vaporware now. Supposedly somebody from Spec-Ops: The Line was part of the dev team.
Ian Gutierrez
You're an idiot. Doom 3 was good, but it was no Silent Hill. Jump scares and gory monsters isn't Silent Hill.
Christopher Jackson
>Jump scares and gory monsters isn't Silent Hill. This.
Logan Perez
But it is. Silent Hill is chock full of shitty combat - you run past most of it, but still have to flail around to conserve the shotgun for bosses. For a Resident Evil alternative they sure didn't have the guts to ditch the combat altogether.
>things coming at you from the fog >no jump scares
okay
Nolan Barnes
I'm 99% sure this thread is one big shitpost and you're just looking for attention by saying the most stupidest shit you can think of.
Connor Nguyen
>jump scares and gory monsters isn't Silent Hill
lol
I'll be generous and not post screenshots from Kojima's vision of SH.
Lucas Scott
Will you stop calling any dissonance in your worldview bait and shitposting and eat your assburger in silence if you cannot engage in an argument?
Jacob Johnson
>Posts surrealistic imagery >Claims to be gore
Connor Wood
that's not what i'm arguing at all dipshit, stop shifting the argument to suit your own retardation seriously if this is just a ploy to make me think you're a total idiot then congratulations, i'm convinced
Anthony Martin
A huge floating head of one of the main characters in the game isn't gory, it's just fucking creepy. Because you literally have no idea why it's there and it's never explained.
Try harder please.
Jason Williams
Nothing you say makes any sense though. Like that other guy suggested, you're probably sniffing paint or something.
Aiden Parker
>the silent hill 4 hospital >"jump scares and gory monsters"
confirmed for never playing the games
Luis Morgan
Define gore please. Look it up, paste it here.
>giant bloody head isn't gory
Julian Howard
let's be clear the main point of contention here is whether or not cancelling silent hills and firing kojima was a good thing for silent hill, as OP believes
Aiden Carter
It's not bloody.
Angel Sanchez
I never said cancelling SH was a good thing. Nor did I say they cancelled it for good.
I can't tell if you people are baiting or not anymore.
Levi Cook
I thought Doom 3 was great. I loved the atmosphere and the pda stories were also great as well. Only complaint was not enough enemy variety and areas being rather samey.
Luke Collins
Yeah, I recently came back to it and enjoyed it immensely up to the point that prompted this thread because I realized that the game doesn't hold up on the whole after all.
And the gunplay is consistently horrible with the worst shotgun in vidya.
Jordan Evans
i meant cancelling the reboot, the game, silent hills that kojima was directing, not the franchise, silent hill but you'll still have your cool pachinko machines and mobile fripperies to play with now that that awful director kojima and his horrible abortion of a project got shitcanned
Liam Ward
Those are scars, not blood. I don't care about your stupid wikipedia article.
Dominic Perez
I clearly stated why I think Kojima is overrated and why Pachinko machine is just a standard franchise spread. No need to ridicule my sentences if you want a honest discussion. Not wanting SH Pachinko is like saying SH toys harm the franchise somehow.
>Oh no, the SH Pachinko machine is making a killing! It will surely make Konami kill the franchise for good!
Jordan Gutierrez
This isn't post structuralism 101, user. There are rules when you use words and definitions.
Tyler Moore
you will not see any of their aaa titles except PES. why is this so hard for you to understand?
David Peterson
the problem is that now there's nothing left of it EXCEPT for "standard franchise spread" and that kojima and his game were the last attempt at actually making a serious silent hill game, and it was very deliberately aborted, which i think shows their obvious intent quite clearly face it, silent hill is over, silent hills was the last chance it had and they canned it, so yes, dropping kojima was VERY BAD for silent hill, essentially fatal
Daniel Allen
Are you clairvoyant user?
Ian Flores
no, this is what konami has stated.
Isaac Harris
Konami literally stated this months ago.
Adam Butler
>how to make silent hill 2 look as shitty as humanly possible
Ryder Garcia
I already said I'm aware of Konami's shift and that I do not think it's permanent. And that I also think that firing Kojima was a logical business decision. Sony will soon rein him in and he will have much less freedom than what Konami gave him.
Joseph Gutierrez
That's great drawing you fucking faggot. Alt art is good.
William Williams
No it isn't, Rob Liefeld.
Logan Hall
your ignorance, poor taste, and inability to swallow your pride is infinite keep going
Christian Harris
>Pic related should have been a first person Silent Hill
I'm lmaoing at your life, OP.
Noah Lee
He drew well in that specific example
Also that cover emphasizes the golden age of video games
That cover alone has more content than the whole 8th gen will in the end.
Austin Ross
Yeah, that shit looks hilariously bad. And I love it.
Nicholas King
still waiting on him to try and address this
Jacob Gray
MGS V should've been a far cry game
Jonathan Campbell
MGS V is a shitty version of FC 2 though
Samuel Fisher
>should have been a first person Silent Hill no. no no no no no
Gabriel Jackson
...
Henry Martinez
Yep. I actually liked the bow. The game overall is mediocre, but it's not offensively bad. The fact that they called it "Tomb Raider" when it didn't even remotely resemble a Tomb Raider game made it irreparable garbage though.
Josiah Reyes
that game is the biggest franchise killer ever, pratchett made most people forget what tomb raider was about.
Jaxon Lopez
Dead Space 3 Mass Effect 2 Hitman Absolution Max Payne 3 Halo 4
>ITT games riding on a franchise name's dick and failing at it while being decent games in and of themselves
