LIKE THE FELLA ONCE SAID, AIN'T THAT A fallout new vegas thread
and can someone tell me how you get to the Sierra Madre? Does Dog carry you out to the casino? And in the casino, by what mechanism does the Sierra Madre move everyone around once they're knocked out?
Elijah flat out tells you that he used Dog to collect idiots from his traps, and that Dog kept doing the rounds out of habit even after Elijah got himself locked in the Sierra Madre
"Casino Security" isn't really explained. It's probably some kind of short range Transportalponder technology from Big MT, like all the other high tech shit in the Madre.
Robert Ross
>Elijah flat out tells you that he used Dog to collect idiots from his traps It's been a while, but I felt this was the case. The casino security was the burning question.
Wish we could see the route he takes. How long were you knocked out for comes to mind. If on hardcore, you should probably be dehydrated and hungry on arrival.
Camden Harris
Yeah, the Sierra Madre is the real mystery location. The Divide is right there on the regular NV map. Zion Nation Park is a real place. Big MT is meant to be somewhere south of the Divide and fairly close to I-15
The best hint to the Madre's location is the Elijah ending where it's close enough for the Cloud to be spread from the Villa to the Mojave, and that it creeps towards Helios One without touching Hoover Dam
Thomas Gonzalez
I'm not having much fun with Dead Money yet, maybe its my character's build
Ayden Anderson
>and that it creeps towards Helios One without touching Hoover Dam
Holy cow, I assumed the Sierra Madre was in a secluded spot in a Northern Mejico desert.
Wyatt Flores
Dead Money is my favorite Fallout DLC of all time and it is not fun. 'Survival horror' does not mix with the shitty Creation Engine and Obsidian's design theory and it comes out slightly disjointed at the best of times. Dead Money shines in its story, themes, and characters however and I'm jealous of Christ Avellones character writing prowess.
Wyatt Hill
Knife Spear spamathon is always a good way to get through Ghost People if you don't have the patience or the skill/bullets to shoot them dead. If you have 50 Repair you can make an even better version
Always aim for the head if you're meleeing them. Or a limb if you're using a gun and VATS. If you want to explore without worrying about traps and you don't have Light Step, take God with you. If you're out of Chips or don't want to spend them fixing yourself up, you can always run back to an AutoDoc in the Medical District for a free fixup.
Remember to break the bank at the casino when you get there
Jonathan Thomas
> Years later, when a mysterious blood red cloud began to roll across the Mojave, then West toward the Republic, no one knew where it had come from. Only that it brought death in its wake. Attempts to find the source of the toxic cloud failed. The Mojave was cut off. Through the Cloud, lights were seen from HELIOS One.
It's definitely in the south, south east
Lucas Murphy
I really liked it, too. The gameplay is frustrating, but I feel like that is to elevate the atmosphere of the setting. No one is there besides the ghost people for the most part, because it's an absolute shithole deathtrap, which is even covered in the lore.
People have been trying to steal the secrets and tech there for years, which is demostrated by the fact that Dean Domino has been trying for like, 200 years.
Toxic cloud, robot death machines, ghost people rad/mutant/zombies, traps fucking everywhere and Dean waiting to kill you if Elijah doesn't with his bullshit.
Mission accomplished. That being said, I grabbed light step and that knockdown melee perk, and I was fine. Lots of scrounging and conservative use of items. Also survival is great in Sierra Madre, though stimpacks aren't that scarce.
The character blew all the other DLC away, too. Dog/God was a really satisfying story arc. That brotherhood chick was cool. Dean was a total dick and I dug it. Elijah is an obsessive, despotic sociopath.
My only question is why doesn't the courier just do what Elijah was planning? Fuck House, fuck NCR, fuck Legion, just have infinite food and murder holograms.
Noah Robinson
Lack of technological expertise, I imagine. Although if you're going heavy on Science and Repair that wouldn't make much sense.
Still a shitty location to live though.
Andrew Taylor
New Vegas is my favorite game of all time but do we really need threads this frequently?
Eli Mitchell
My character was a brainiac. 9 int, max med, max sci, max repair.
If Elijahs old grumpy brotherhood ass can do it, why can't I?
I mean for fucks sake, think about the end of Lonesome Road. I get that it would fuck up the main game plot, but they could've shoehorned in some sort of FO3 free necessities for the wasteland type of scene in the ending.
Or fuck it, have it break the game.
Gavin Cook
>Still a shitty location to live though. Bloodily and violently exterminating the population of sewer dwelling ghost people then bringing people in to fix the casino up (or robots) would be entirely doable.
Caleb James
Right, that's what I'm saying, a courier like that would probably be able to take advantage of everything the Sierra Madre has. But even then, it's a run-down shithole surrounded by toxic gasses and inhabited primarily by bugshit crazy zombies, malfunctioning holograms, and is far removed from the rest of civilization. Not exactly a great place to settle down in.
Adam Mitchell

Cameron Sanders
The ghost men and the fact I don't have an abundance of doctor's bags or stimpaks is really more annoying than anything else
Connor Martin
Doctor's Bags come out of Vending Machines
You can also break the DLC a bit if you have a mod that lets you turn Medical Braces/Surgical Tubes into limb restoring items
Cameron Ortiz
But you can do it, you just have to have negative NCR reputation and be willing to buddy up with Elijah to get it done
Caleb Morales
Fuck that, I wanted to snap his treacherous neck and take the whole casino for myself.
]I'm still pissed that Christine and Veronica weren't able to meet again. I would have enjoyed bringing Christine back to the Mojave and handing her over to Veronica while I went on my butchering way.
Nathaniel Clark
Ok i just finshed LR and Ulysees just mad at you because EdE activated the underground silos. I mean why does a boner with the Leigion i dont understand
Colton Richardson
Gamebryo gets kind of pissy if you try and make certain DLC content interact with the base game. The conversation you can have with Veronica about Elijah is only there because it was already in the vanilla NV release, disguised as a bit of cut content so dataminers wouldn't figure it out.
Christine was written in too late for something similar. Besides, Veronica was written to be miserable.
Easton Phillips
>EdE activated the underground silos
No he didn't.
> I mean why does a boner with the Leigion i dont understand
He's a frumentarii.
Logan Bailey

There no special dialogue for being a BoS member in Dead Money? Or any of the dlcs besides Lonesome Road
Evan Stewart
Yeah I totally executed that motherfucker. Turned on the turrets and blew his head off. Put a fucking bomb collar on me, after I already put up with that shit in Hidden Valley?
Nah, man. Nah.
Benny? Dead. Brotherhood? Dead. White legs? Genocide. Think tank? Scrap.
Interestingly enough, I didn't kill Ulysses. After tracking his ass that far, playing Lonesome Road only right before the dam, I felt a certain kinship to him. I mostly supported NCR but eventually saw them for what they really were and walked my own path. He became disillusioned with the Legion and walked his own.
Revenge was my favorite characters biggest motivation. I might run my anarchist brawler through just to see it.
Second thought, fuck that I'll just youtube it.
Even though the story is great I have no desire to play through Dead Money again.
John Wright
Would you rather more offtopic shitpost threads?
Gavin Watson
One line with Christine when she's trying to mine that she was a member of the BoS
Elijah straight up wouldn't give a shit, though. He's the type of person who would resent outsiders being allowed in his secret club
Levi Edwards
You get one or two things with Christine that make it easier to communicate a bit. Basically you recognize that she was a BOS scribe, and that's it.
Pretty disappointing.
Daniel Clark
But if you kill him you can't tune into his radio frequency and listen to him beg you to let him out
Isaiah Anderson
>I mean why does a boner with the Leigion >i dont understand not the only one, buddy
Gabriel Gray
>Ok i just finshed LR and Ulysees just mad at you because EdE activated the underground silos
Ed-E did I think trigger part of the launch sequence that Ulysses had set in motion. If you disarm it you have to let ED-E destroy itself.
>I mean why does a boner with the Leigion i dont understand
he does boner with the Leigion because is Ulysees boner
Can anybody tell me how he reacts to you if you're pro-Legion? I was a BOS member, but I guess I did enough NCR quests that all my dialogue was related to them.
Jeremiah Brown
I'm still of the opinion tribals in HH should have thought you were a literal god when you show up in your T-51b with a Gatling Laser.
YOUR LORD DEMANDS BOTTLES CAPS, ALL OF THEM!
Jayden Taylor
I always thought they could've/should've done more with Joshua in HH. He was just as interesting as Ulysses or Elijah in my opinion.
I mean, he was the absolute bane of the white legs. They white legs were raping the dead horses and sorrows before he showed up. His face is wrapped in bandages and so are his arms. He's a crack shot with his .45AP, and is the war chief of the dead horses.
When you and him team up at the end, they could've done some shit where they show Graham speaking to the white legs after executing Salt Upon Wounds.
Just one fire and brimstone speech about purging their way of life forever. Just one.
Evan Howard
All the White Legs between Joshua and SUW are dead by then. All the others wisely got the fuck out of dodge.
Too bad about Honest Hearts as a whole, though. Sawyer mentioned they rushed it because they thought they'd run out of time so it's the only part of New Vegas that got finished ahead of schedule. Doesn't even have any cut content.
Owen Taylor
I got that vibe from it. I liked it enough to play through again, and I took my time a lot more than the first run. The story of the vault was cool, but I probably missed a lot of shit with it.
The second time though I was actively trying to find out more about the New Canaanites and Joshua, and got fuckall, really. I mean, he preaches a lot, but skims over so much of the history.
Charles Perry
5 decides my next playthrough
I've done the roll thing for a playthrough but now I want to be the slut of Sup Forums's NV threads, will post updates as I go
Hudson Brown
Obsidian actually had a really tight VO budget for the DLC. They were allotted 10,000 lines total, which is why so much stuff wound up communicated via terminals. Most of the actual lines went to OWB and DM.
Daniel Howard
>Silly Owslandr, Joshua told us all about the metal skin and lightning guns
Supposedly modded weapon animations require some patch or fix, I guess there's some on the files hosted for WAR, and some other animation mods. The author said it's easy to patch, but I'm not entirely sure how it works.

Is Boone edgy or an appropriate amount of aloof and distanced between himself and others?
Anthony Evans
It's fun as shit, lemme tell you. New Vegas showed a lot of love for Unarmed and Explosives. Oh, try to wear as much skimpy or otherwise distinctly "Americana" clothing as possible. No PA or headgear, obviously. Get mods if you feel like actually having some armor. Might wanna take some DT-related perks Toughness. Cannibal also makes for some fun RP, especially if you shoot for Meat of Champions.

Hey anons, I was toying with an idea for a SPECIAL overhaul to deal with the runaway power creep introduced by the DLCs. I haven't done much in the way of modding (mostly decor and a few NPCs), so I'm not sure how feasible it is.
Basically, your SPECIAL functions as a soft cap for each of your skills, by increments of ten per point. Luck raises the cap by two per point. It costs double to raise a skill past the threshold. As an example, with 5 CHA and 1 LCK, it would take 148 points to max any skill with CHA as a dependency, as opposed to the flat 100 of vanilla. With the mod, the SP required to max everything goes from 1800 to around 2500. In other words, the SP economy becomes much tighter.
That's the basic functionality. Permanent/semi-permanent perks that increase SPECIAL also increase the cap, like OWB's Spineless and Heartless perks, or just plain old SPECIAL Training. Tagged skills also increase the cap by 10. It becomes viable to "specialize" outside your core stats if you want to become a Jack of all Trades.
Other possible changes include nerfing the magazine SP bonus from +10/20 to +5/10. The overall goal is to make well thought-out builds that much more important, and to reward specialization and facilitate RP.
Thoughts?
Adam Evans
I'm having trouble trying to understand what you want
You want to put Mr New Vegas in a game where most of his dialogue would make no sense
And then you want some dork from a modding forum doing his best Wayne Newton impression to give it new lines that do make sense
So the end result would be a few professional, charismatic lines without context interspersed with low quality shit babbling about Boston
Why?
Carter Price
I think he just wants that style of broadcasting back. A distant, neutral reporter delivering news about happenings in the wasteland instead of autist Travis or insufferable Chad Travis.
Isaiah Richardson
>radio NV somehow broadcasting into the commonwealth >Mr NV still commenting on happenings around mojave/new lines based around the conclusion of NV
I'm sure there's some cut content somewhere that has plenty of unused dialogue recordings already. Why is this such an abrasive idea for you?
Lucas Ortiz
But this would also make me happy
Jace Wood
New Vegas had just the right tone.
Jackson Young
It's an interesting idea but the simplest solution for dealing with the absurdity of becoming God at 50 was already dealt with in JSawyer: just lower the level cap
And while it makes it harder for low SPECIAL Couriers to max out certain stats it doesn't address the underlying issue of stats like CHA being completely crap. There's no real consequences for playing such deliberately handicapped characters. There's also the fact that 10 INT lets you roll around in skill points, making INT the go-to stat for any build.
Aaron Perez
and here we go
was thinking it would be fun for you all to roll for what I do, inside the original winner's parameters of course

they're pretty nice guys
Anthony Rivera
It's designed to work with JSawyer, as there'd be little in the way of outright incompatibilities, assuming I don't have to completely redefine how skills work.
Taken together, INT would no longer be the be-all, end-all stat since the total gains over the course of the game (approx. 90 extra SP between 5 and 10 INT) wouldn't compensate for the gap in lost skills for any specialization. CHA needs a complete overhaul, but this is a good enough bandaid fix as far as incentivizing investment goes.
Landon Hernandez
Looks like you have a censored dong.
Alexander Robinson
Joe Cobb waits on the edge of goodsprings next to a house. If you head towards the prison from the tavern you'll see him. He'll tell you to kill Ringo, then give you the PG version of "get people to give us stuff for the fight"
