Are STALKER fans excited for this? youtube.com
NO BECAUSE ITS NOTHING LIKE STALKER
Dead franchise.
Better dead than raped and consolized.
only if there werent game ruining bugs everywhere....
Not really. P2w shit incoming.
We might yet see stalker 2 when GSC is done with cossacks
Иди cвoeй дopoгoй, cтaлкep.
is there anything more overrated than STALKER?
game is crap unless you use mods
There's 24/7 STALKER general on /vg/, if you're interested.
Here's the rookie guide pic for beginners, though.
>STALKER
>overrated
pick one. I don't think any of the games got above 8/10 ratings in any major media, and most players still seem to not even know it exists.
>game is crap unless you use mods
False.
Please go off yourself, fuccboi.
>Game has active and dedicated modding community
>Still something new after 9 years
Sounds good to me
Why are people saying this is p2w?
console shitter leave
Overwatch
It's crap and you can't even mod it.
>online contacts
Is that some RAY OF HOPE?
maybe because you can buy better equipment, larger stash size and automatically make all traders in the game like you by preordering the more expensive editions?
>false
please
>play vanilla SoC
>gunplay is absolutely trash
>like fallout 3-tier bad
>they all look like crap
>enemy are damage sponges (yes i was playing on master, it doesn't do shit)
i don't even know how's the rest of game, stopped playing after i while because i couldn't stand the guns
the only thing STALKER has going for is atmosphere
Is there any mod that has the beauty of Autumn Aurora but the features of AMK? Legitimate question here, I would love to give SoC another playthrough.
No, Stalker always had it called like that, it's just some mode decided two write it on HUD, what it actually means is number of stalkers nearby.
>I don't even know how's the rest of game
Opinion invalidated.
Oh allright. I just don't remember that then.
>GSC is done
user...

your starter guns just sucked complete shit. even killing one or two bandits in that very first 'take the gas station' mission was hard as shit with that piece of crap--kill the guy with the shotgun first and you have a gun that can splatter some cheeky breekis even if it meant getting rather close to fill 'em full of buckshot. Better than plinking away with an inaccurate bb gun.
once you got decent firepower off military corpses enemies were a lot less bullet sponge and a lot more dead in one headshot.
Gunplay is fucking satisfying, in pseudo-realistic way. Fights are actually long and brutal, and the gear you acquire improves towards the end, adding an element of progression and growth.
The graphics are still great. Especially the lighting still beats even most modern games, being fully dynamic and casting real-time shadows out of everything. Sunsets / rises and midnight thunderstorms are just gorgeous.
Enemies are no more "bullet sponges" than you are. Everyone, including the player, can be 1-shot killed with a shot to the head. Of course if you are using some shitty, rusted, ruskie pocket pistol and pumping your whole mag to heavily armored torso, you are not going to get much done.
>stopped playing a while because couldnt stand the guns
No wonder you're being a prick. You literally know shit about the game!
Just about every single user that has put their mind to it and pushed through the "hobo phase" agree that the game picks up a fuck ton after you get to 100rad Bar, and start getting good gear. There are still fans who dig the beginning's rougher playing style, as it enhances the survival aspect of the games.
>the only thing STALKER has going for is atmosphere
and interesting lore, great AI, and satisfying gameplay. Stalkan' is a lifestyle of its own.
>Better than plinking away with an inaccurate bb gun.
It's just sad that players are this bad nowadays.
Yeah, Mak and Sawnoffs suck, not denying that, but even my wife had no problems with the Car Park mission. She kept popping heads left and right with the Mak, and only once got surprised by a Sneeky Breeki with a sawnoff, resulting instant death. Totally dominated the park afterwards.
Then why not use mods?
Pretty much.
IMO the game is divided between life before scope and life after scope.
After all those years I still remember the moment when you loot your first PSO-1 scope from the guys in the building leading to Wild Territory.
It turned from "oh shit, oh shit where are they shooting at me from" and running away to nailing cheekies from miles away and advancing on their positions.
Same problem as Survarium: Multiplayer focus.
>Then why not use mods?
Starting with major overhauls is generally not recommended.
For starters, you can end up biting a much bitter chunk than you signed up for, resulting a major ass-rape right off the bat. I've seen literally hundreds of players complain about the very beginning of SoC being "unfairly hard" in vanilla, so you can only imagine their frustration if some "realism" mod is added on top.
Second, most big mods totally butcher the fine balance and design the games have by default. There's no reason to ever upgrade from your starting pistol and first AK, if they already 1 or 2 shot anyone with body hits, and can be repaired to 100% condition for a pocket change. This eliminates the linear progression and feeling of growing stronger as the game moves forwards.
Next, some mods are also fugly, butcher performance, can introduce NEW bugs, and some also simply make the game casual-tier easy, as amazing as it may sound.
Finally, when you know the vanilla experience, you actually spot and appreciate the differences the mods make. It's just sad reading posts of people who've never even touched the basic games, speaking how cool or weird it is to have/not have this and that feature in the game, without realizing that vanilla worked totally different (and sometimes better).
All in all, the patched vanilla games are pretty well designed, even if a bit rough around the edges. Apply Starter Pack's fixes, and you really should not have any issues.
You can go nuts with overhaul mods later on.
This.
I'd personally already make the Aprogrom Institute to be an early game-changer, with the introduction of AK74 (especially the Rapid one), Sunrise suit (if you look it up) and some artifacts. Not to mention all the other loot you can pick up in the area.
When you do get a scope and some AP-ammo, though, you literally ascend to this pseudo demi-god of the Zone level.
I recently played through both SoC and CoP for the first time on hardest difficulty
What a fucking ride man.
Why did the ending to CoP kill all my interest in the game though? I had mods already downloaded which i were planning to play after i finished it
>post yfw you were here for the first time
CoP in general was a very underwhelming experience, especially towards the end. Great gameplay and nice, open maps, but it was way too easy and calm for its own good.
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!

>consoles
>bad
cuck
Fuck.
What mod is that?
Hey stalkers
.
.
Clear sky
i remember my first experience with unpatched clear sky on day one, docent suslov wouldn't talk to me at all and i could draw my weapon out in the clear sky base but not shoot
i also got hit by the infinite reloading bug and loaded 68 shots of buckshot into a chaser 13, then fired off a shot and xr_3da has stopped working, STACK TRACE::
save went corrupt
how many patches did CS have in the end, around 10 or 11?
OGSE
>tfw I've never actually seen the wish granter endings
I'm too thorough.
I liked it.
The latest standalone one?
Yes
I didn't think it was bad apart from the insane grenade spam.
The forest area is probably one of my top 3 in the entire series.
Going through it at night in a thunderstorm with with a artifact detector was intense as fuck.
What's the best faction and why is it the Ecologists?
neutral good bros
for science, the noblest pursuit of all!
isnt this just singleplayer dayZ? whats the point
Here's your (you)
>not going to the zone irl
No.
Unlike DayZ (and all its later clones), STALKER games actually have a plot, you actually PROGRESS more or less linearly within the game (at your own pace tho'), and you got missions and things to take care of, instead of just dropping you in the middle of wasteland sandbox in your underwear, hoping you survive.
in general, the "survival" elements on STALKER are quite lightweight and not too limiting. It's safer to call these games WRPG-FPS hybrids, with a bit more focus on FPS than RPG, as there's no gaining EXP or "leveling up".
tl;dr: STALKER did survival-shooter much better than the genre it kinda created and inspired, by being an actual GAME.
The vanilla is shit senpai. Good thing the complete mods fix it.
you look like an autist, your shoes and pants are 12 year old kid tier
>Complete

Would you wear your best clothes in a contaminated wasteland?
>contaminated wasteland
yeah, we fallout now
fuck you
They work for the trader, the fat man.
Sid?
Chernobyl zone is literally the definition of wasteland. Also you can't just wear anything you want, there are restrictions to clothing and other things.
Also, dude, skinny arms and manboobs? It's really easy to get at least a bit fit...
waste of time
people still live in the city of chernobyl, actually. most of them are nuclear power plant employees
>not roleplaying the stalker
its like you don't even want to form your own bandit/mercenary/stalker group and roll
baka@u
Indeed, but they don't live there permanently. All the other villages were buried after the accident.

Have you reached the nuclear throne yet?
TnB is meh nowadays
