While I love morrowind, why is it being talked about 5 times a day now? Is there some update to a mod recently I havn't heard about?
Also a flaw would be it had serious bugs that never got fixed outside of unofficial patches.
I love the game, but the combat hasn't aged well and the NPC dialogue isn't very varied.
every NPC is at the same spot 24/7 and they all are """""""""""""""walking""""""""""""" encyclopedias without any interesting dialogue
oblivion is much much better
>the NPC dialogue isn't very varied.
This, beating the main quest and having everyone talk to you with the same opening statement was annoying as shit.
It's a great game but it's clunky as fuck
Because the threads are comfy as fuck but they only get started through shitposting about the combat, journal system etc...
comfy
Can I play mage without alchemy and enchanting to break the game?
...
Played it when it was released and couldn't get into it.
Friend told me to stick to the main quest.
Replayed and devoured it. Read all ingame books.
Picked it up again recently. Couldn't stand it after half an hour.
They are not walking encyclopedias, they know the basic shit about their town/region and customs, cults and religions, sometimes politics.
>it's a "I want to live in Balmora" episode
Movement speed
The journal
Detect spells are poorly implemented
Written directions are hit or miss.
Alchemy broken as implemented.
The combat curve goes
1 - 10 piss poor
11 - 20 sweet spot
21+ piss easy
Is the very definition of flawed gem.
I liked it didn't love it.
They fixed the journal. Written directions are confusing as all hell.
The may not be but interacting with them had all the charm of reading a wiki on a subject.
Worst part is dumner scouts can recite directions to any point on the island but couldn't read a map for the life of them.I hate dealing with backwater yokels in games.
>talk to a nord
>background barbarian
>how about some morrowind lore?
i can't think of a more defensive repetitive fanbase than morrowind's
no one cares if it's your favourite elder scrolls game
and you know what, it's okay if it is
but stop making these daily threads in an attempt to force your boring opinion down other people's throats
>combat
>movement speed
you are building your character incorrectly
same
no its just shit, i love morrowind but i agree with him, the combat is easily the worst thing about the game
Are you retarded or something? This game honestly aged like shit, that's why I'll never go back and play it again.
Just started a run last night after several years of not playing. Fucking hyped.
Git gud
Stop making shitty characters with 2 agility and no major weapon skills
>HOW DARE YOU TRY AND HAVE FUN IN A VIDEOGAME
Kind of a specific question, but has anyone tried running the latest version of Tamriel Rebuilt, 16.03, I've been installing it with mod manager, but every time I install it when I try to launch a save I get an expression error during loading and the game crashes. Not sure what's causing this.
For me the game is always a little bit dull during the first few hours, all the quests are pretty basic and you can't really do a whole lot. After a few hours in though the game becomes a mountain of fun, at least for me.
i already beat the game
it's not that good
kys
This is not a case of GIT GUD though.
It is a case of grind enough to have enough Stamina to not have to take a nap during a fight(Overstated for dramatic effect)
Once that happens you enter the sweet spot of combat.
Shortly after that everything on the island could charge you from the peak of Red Mountain at the same time and lose to you(Once again overstated for dramatic effect)
The power curve for combat is bad though.
Ah so all the character customization in the game means nothing then? That sounds like poor game design...
Error is
Expression error unable to find referenced object "TR_m1_Q50_G06_Marker" in script TR_m1_Q50_G06_gamarth_scpt
I'm guessing a mod might be conflicting, but I've never had any mod conflicts with TR until this version
the mechanics are shit, its not a case of git gud user, the combat is just bland and clunky as fuck
>all these guys who couldn't get past the first mudcrab
don't you have some webms to post?
Mixing RNG with real time combat is like trying to do a live broadcast of a cartoon.
It may be possible but the end result will not be good no matter the effort put in.
Tell yourself what you have too user.
If it makes you feel better about yourself I am happy to help.
Whoever designed the combat should have been fired....out of a cannon....into the sun.
Some user posted a morrowind thread and art dump a couple of days ago and it made me reinstall. Thanks to that faggot I've been playing almost non stop since then. Thanks buddy.
Maybe this time I will actually finish the main quest. Never did that in the hundreds of hours I already sank into it over the years.
Also, MGSO is pretty comfy
youtube.com
New playthrough just started
thing is it isn't that much different from daggerfall
it's just worse since the different directions are useless in morrowind, unlike in daggerfall
It's not as good as Gothic 1/2
It's open world
>...
Kill yourself.
It's not clunky it's just shit. All you have to do is spam mouse1 and maybe drink some potions or drink Sujamma.
morrowind combat is still better than oblivion combat, at least the late game oblivion combat
As a person who haven't played this game as a kid/teenager I can see that it's not that good.
You have a problem with ellipses...? What an immense faggot you are.
t. Sony fanboy graphics whore
morrowind's shit, take off your nostalgia glasses
>being this butthurt
i get it, you love morrowind. its a great game but you have to accept that it has some flaws, and one of them is the boring ass shitty combat
Running fine here. Try reinstalling or checking your mods for conflicts.
Reminder that the average age of Sup Forums at the time when morrowind was released was 5 or younger, do not take Sup Forums's opinion on morrowind seriously.
...
I think it's a mod conflict, just dunno why it's conflicting now
Shit combat, signpost npc's, inaccurate journal, too easy, dungeons are hallways, AI is atrocious, no level scaling, horrid animations, ugly armour, boring and uninspired quests, uninteresting DLC, dice roll for everything, no elevations, too brown. There you go faggot
...
Cliffracers.
They have to accept nothing.
Every flaw a feature in their eyes.
Holy shit you're so "clever" and needy please kys
...
How do you even play a stealth character in Morrowind? Wait until you can train the fuck out of sneak before you start trying to get sneak attacks? Abuse illusion?
stealth only works after 60 points
start is too slow, directions are too vague at times
>inaccurate journal
elaborate. did you play the game without Tribunal or some shit?
>no level scaling
this is not a flaw, you retarded shit. additionaly, Morrowind DO have some level scaling
>no elevations
>too brown
oh, so you're just baiting. carry on, then
>dice roll combat
I just started playing again yesterday and I don't know what's going on. Game runs smoothly until I get into combat, it'll freeze for five seconds before combat, and then another five seconds after combat.
It wasn't doing that the last time I tried to play.
>just dunno why it's conflicting now
Welcome to elder scrolls. These things can crop up several hours into a game and you'll often have no way of knowing until it ruins your save.
Hey you know that steam controller? Well I was thinking of buying it so I can play Morrowind in it. I wont really have a desk to play on for a few weeks, although I do have a sort of laptop pad so I can play anyways. Good idea or shitty?
add whole morrowind folder to exceptions in whatever antivirus you have or the default microsoft antivirus if you have that
Should be workable. Not as good as m&KB obviously but good enough.
>can't join Dagoth Ur
oh...
The combat and movement speed.
BUT! Hold your (you)s
In a vacuum Morrowind's combat and movement speed are super fine. But in a world that has Oblivion and Skyrim people get used to being fast and not having to be smart to play the game.
So, basically, Morrowind's biggest problem is its sequels that spoiled people.
I was looking it up and finally found something. It says it's not the combat itself, but the changing of the music when entering into and out of combat. Some reason it's causing it to freeze for a few seconds while the music switches from Explore to Combat and back to Explore.
It was suggested to just delete the whole music folder (lol). I'm going to try the exceptions thing first.
Dagoth Ur says himself, if he could have gotten you to trust and join him he'd probably just use you for the tools and toss you. The brilliant thing about the prophesy is that Azura plays the whole situation perfectly into you being her puppet.
yeah and the solution is to add the morrowind folder to exceptions
How playable is Morrowind with a 360 controller?
un
...
Why
Because the UI isn't consolized like Oblivion and Skyrim
It requires your mouse to be precise and all over the screen at all times which is pain in the ass with a controller
I like Morrowind but I'm currently playing and literally can't find someone who sells recall. I have mark, looked up where to get recall, 3 of the vendors don't have it.
Otherwise it's like a better version of runescape that replaces retarded pcs for semiretarded npcs
Thanks, it worked.
What do they eat? :)
>find a flaw
The fact that hitting enemies doesn't always = hitting enemies.
>weapon passes through
*swoof*
>weapon passes through
*swoof*
>land a hit
Other than that it's an amazing game.
