How does this make you feel?

Never played one

I'm a huge fan of DQ8 but I haven't played any of the others due to not owning the consoles they're on, so what the fuck do I pick?

this seems pretty OK for a famous game franchise. A good chunk has played some, a minority most and a miniscule amount literally have done it all.
I see nothing wrong here.

According to that poll, more of them have played a DQ game than not.

That's surprising actually.

Emulate SNES versions of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. 4 is only in English on NES and DS/Android/iOS, so if NES is too old for you, get one of the latter.

indifferent

I love DQ but I acknowledge long ago that mostly no one cares outside Japan

I meant what choice do I pick from the poll? I've only played 1 game but I'm a fan of what little I've played.

>CJayC in charge of Gamefaqs
>Nazi mods that kicked out kids
>GameFaqs after CJayC sold out
>OP's image

>Just one or two, I'm not a huge fan
I personally played 7 and 8 due to being a poor child during the Nintendo years.

>2016
>playing japanese games
cmon, user..

I've only played the SNES 1&2 and Monsters and feel I've had my fill.

I see nothing wrong here.

But it's the only choice if you don't want to drown in SJW and/or copy-pasted sequels.

>inb4: hurr Final Fantasy 45, Dragon Quest 21
Take last five games in both those series. They're nothing alike.

i played 3 of them never finish any of them(5,6,8)

boring as fuk

I sorta have the same viewpoint as you but when you prefer hand-to-hand combat over guns, having only God of War and Mortal Kombat gets boring fast.

Why is Martial Arts so unpopular outside of Asia?

"Just one or two" because you're a big fan of DQ8, not the whole series.

I've only played the first and I liked it. But it's a grind heavy game. Were it not for emulation, I wouldn't have lasted. Everything still kicks your ass even with the best armors. And that fucking Black Knight that ambushes you in the desert. Ffs.
I want to get into it, but I know it's going to be the same shit up until V (from what I was told). Instead i'm playing on some obscure shit like Crimson Gem Saga and Black Sigil.

They also aren't any good lel

Never played one myself

I've played 3.
3 is good, 9 is okay and 1 is terrible.

I don't feel the need to play any more since they all seem to be the same thing.

Expected
And Im sure Sup Forums is no different. Its not a popular series in the west and thats ok with me

Can you imagine how shitty it would be to go on Sup Forums if you liked mainstream games like Overwatch?

I dont know I havent played a FPS in over 15 years but there seems to be plenty of threads about that game so I guess its fans feel at home here

Not as bad as Sup Forums is nowadays. Your average gamefaqs user is also a good 7 years older than the average Sup Forums user.

My point is most of the threads about popular games are awful and consist of mostly shitting on the game and porn.

Threads about unpopular games usually only attract fans but the downside is they don't happen that often.

Makes sense, the most popular stuff always gets the most shitposters

That said yesterday´s DQ thread was awful with all the FF shitposters so

Yeah does any kid actually go to sites like Gamefaqs these days? I feel like communities like have been dying out in favor of social media and image reposting sites. Of course there are still big ones like reddit and Sup Forums

The sad thing is that it's likely just like 2-3 guys that keep shitting it up for everyone. Sometimes just one even.

>Yeah does any kid actually go to sites like Gamefaqs these days?

Games don't even need guides nowadays so younger people pretty much stopped finding the site.

Yeah nah you stick to your western garbage made of propaganda and cinematic experiences

kek

Every time it's the evil SJWs as to why superior nipponese games are better.
If that's your only argument, maybe you should face the reality that you don't have an argument.

It's not surprising

but that doesn't mean it hurts any less

Dragon Quest is the Call of Duty of Japan, prove me wrong.

Its not a shooter, there proven wrong.

I checked it a few days ago, and all the boards are far slower than they used to be. The more populated ones used to be the social boards (CE, PotD, PC board, etc) and those seem very slow.

It's definitely dying, plus most games nowadays don't even need guides or FAQs.

Wowee golly gee user you sure got him.

You expected me to give a serious reply to a shitpost?

I would but everyone on Sup Forums says it's shit so I don't care.

>a community free of weebfaggotry
What am I still doing here

If you consider GoW as hand-to-hand then you need to expand a little more. Dark Messiah of M&M and Mountain Blade for starters

That is more an argument that I would like to admit. Western writing in games is unbearable.

The only games I enjoyed in recent years were jap and slav shit. DD:DA, Souls, STALKER, Witcher, Metro, maybe some Deus Ex too.

I can't positively comment in most western shit. It's recycling game mechanics from previous years but with a shittier presentation and story.
Jap games have been shit for a long time but now they are both mechanically proficient and eye-catching.

Feel free to leave

I've played one of the main series Dragon Quest games years ago. It was really barebones. It was an acceptable game but there was nothing particularly interesting about it. I give it a 5/10. Mediocre.

Never played one. jrpgs are garbage

RPGs are the shooters of Japan.

ive never played a single dragon quest game.

I really mean melee combat in general with or without weapons. Mountain Blade is really cool but I'm too mentally lazy to properly play a strategy game so I cheat to give myself near god-mode and played it like a hack and slash. I also don't consider it a melee game because archery and lancing are objectively superior in the gameplay, melee has to be either the only or the core method of the game for it to be a melee game.

I got into MoMM recently and I'm liking it so far. Again I'm simple minded and having to choose between abilities makes me nervous but it is not too indepth and I really enjoy exploring for secrets. There is also a mod project going on in the Steam forum that restores unused lines, makes use of special edition only content and adds a new game plus.

I just have an unreasonable desire to play a game with anime-style combat but without anime-style settings and weirdness. Mortal Kombat comes closest to want I want. Modern supernatural fantasy with some bullshit excuse for fights to be with fists, magic, and swords instead of guns and nukes.

been meaning to get into some dragon quest games, what are some good ones to start with?
Which ones should I avoid?

I played Dragon Quest Monsters but thats it.

Dragon Quest games are really overrated.

Lets see:

>same music used for EVERYTHING, dungeons, battles, towns
>story is generally just plain boring
>combat is barebones turn based

it is vanilla flavored vanilla JRPG.

7 and 8 for 3ds are coming out in English soon. So there's those two.

And an awful artstyle on top of that.

I have no idea who plays DQ when you could play literally any other JRPG.

This doesn't tell us shit about the gamefaqs community especially. Any western vidya community is in the same boat. Sup Forums is in the same boat. Blame SE for not porting the games to the west.

Start with the DS remakes of 4, 5 and 6. 5 and 8 are generally regarded as the best, 7 is great but waaaaaaaay too fucking long, 10 is a shitty MMO that never got released over here.

This

If there's one thing about 7 that's way too long it's the intro.
I tried playing it once but after 2 hours of nothing but dialogue I was too bored to continue.

Like every poll on there is usually mostly "I've never played [game]".

You know the vast majority of people who actually vote in those polls are children, right?

Well, now the minecraft audience will definitely play because of Builders

Emulate the Android version of IV in Bluestacks or something. It's easily the best version of the game outside of shitty touch controls and being a battery murderer, both of which are fixed on an emulator.

The majority of people have said they did play at least one.

I'm 25 and I don't play weeb garbage

I play western garbage

I only played
>8
>9
>Joker (1 and 2)

Although last night I decided to try out the rest.
I beat DQ1(GBC), and have just started DQ2(GBC) today.

Thank the lord for emulator Fast Forward.

This describes the majority of threads that aren't about new release AAA games.

Remember when Metroid threads were fantastic, even for a couple years after Other M, and then like two faggots kept trolling the threads into oblivion, and now they're some of the worst threads on this board?

Fun times.
