Doom thread?
Doom thread.
Doom thread?
Doom thread.
more like dead thread.
Is this supposed to be the weird cube thing from the Resurrection of Evil expansion for Doom 3? I never played that myself but I'm pretty sure I've seen some videos of it, and from what I remember it looked a lot like this.
Cyber Demon confirmed for disappointing fight
at least it looks cool, I guess.
No, that's Soulcube from original D33M.
You kiddin? That fight was fucking amazing, and actually alot more complex than the original which was "Shoot it until it dies" he actually had attack patterns which took me by surprise.
I can't believe Bethesda actually made them put a reference to Skyrim in this fucking game. What a bunch of shitters. I won't be buying any more Bethesda games anymore, thanks to this.
But this fight was also just "shoot it until it dies". That's even the name of the achievement you get for beating it. The only real difference here was that he sometimes puts up walls to trap you and then either shoots a bunch of rockets in an easy to dodge pattern, or does the two waves that always come low and then high.
The Hell Guards fight was far more complex and interesting.
>one easter egg ruins an entire game
When it's a reference to literally the worst game of all time, yes, it does ruin the entire game. If you disagree it's probably because you're a white male or something.
This is an acceptable reference in an id game. Shit from Skyrim, of all games, is not.
Too bad there wasn't a Wolfenstein reference. it could at least be about BJ it they couldn't add a nazi reference.
Is the Cyberdemon a cuck? It looks like he is.
Aww, he looks to tsudere there
"I-it's not like I wanted you to shoot me, b-baka!"
>literally the worst game of all time
lol
I honestly think there's people here who really believe that
That's funny because I found the Hell guards to be pathetically easy and a disappointing boss fight, but I loved the Cyberdemon and he actually kicked my ass a few times on nightmare. He's gonna be scary as hell on a Ultra-Nightmare run since he can kill you so fast.
There's gotta be a Wolf reference somewhere. There's a Commander Keen reference, it would be nuts if they didn't call back to Wolfenstein somewhere.
I died a few times to solo Hell Guard just trying to figure out his pattern. Once you realize you can shoot a rocket at him when he's charging his energy ball thing to stun him, the fight becomes significantly easier. For me, the Cyberdemon was just a matter of keeping constant fire on him while occasionally strafing left and right or jumping slightly.
I think we can both agree that DOOM 4 had some shockingly decent boss fights for a FPS game since FPS bosses are almost always terrible.
This game had way too many arena shootouts.
Absolutely. The game has impressed me on a number of levels, especially the fact that it actually has some good boss fights. I can't even remember the last time I enjoyed a boss battle in a FPS game. There's a good chance the last one I really had fun with was the original Cyberdemon.
I'll take arena shootouts over hallway shootouts any day
The original games were like that too you memespouting faggot.
Why not both? Hallway shootouts were a huge part of what made classic Doom.
I mean hallway shootouts like in Call of Duty or most modern shooters. New Doom having big arena battles where mobility is required is refreshing.
>The original games were like that too you memespouting faggot.
Lmao, never actually played the originals I see. The only time the original games locked you in big open rooms were in boss levels, you dip. The majority of enemies were fought in tight corridor like areas.
>Doomguy is the only one to survive entering and exiting Hell
>Except for Hayden
>Samuel Hayden
>S. Hayden
>S hayden
>S ayden
>Satan
SAMUEL HAYDEN IS LITERALLY THE DEVIL AND RULER OF HELL.
Have YOU ever played the original games? Because you're totally wrong. The only places that were mostly corridors were the first few levels of the first episode of each game.
DOOM is a game that will always be fun to play
So at what points in the original games do you have to clear out every other room you step into before you can move on to the next one? You know I'm right, nigger. Just admit it.
OG Doom is. As much as I'm enjoying NuDoom, I'm not really sure it's going to be the kind of game I'll still want to pick up and play for a half hour 20 years down the road.
"arena shootouts" and "clear the room to proceed" are two different things, kiddo.
...
>playing in fullscreen mode locks you at 60fps
It's current year, what the fuck is the excuse for this shit?
Is this some variant of Hold the Door meme?
Doom on nightmare is the dark souls of fps
Every time you die, it's a result of you making an actual mistake that could have been easily avoided by thinking faster and planning better, dying because you didn't pull out the right weapon at the right time to deal with the right enemies in the right order while maintaining spacial awareness so you can keep up your momentum avoiding damage. If you died because a hell knight kicked an explosive barrel into your face, you should have shot the barrel a second earlier to damage the hell knight. If you were standing next to the barrel, you should have moved elsewhere earlier. 100% planning and skill and reactions and decision making, no bullshit.
>"arena shootouts" and "clear the room to proceed" are two different things
Not in this case they're not.
No it doesn't
This is why you miserable fucks can't enjoy life. Every little detail sends you into an autistic rage.
Serious Sam is still better at pure skill-based shooting.
>works for me ;)
stop
>circle strafe:the game
And D44M isn't? Step your meme game up.
Play in borderless, you pleb.
still locked at 60, only windowed mode unlocks it for me. And no, v-sync is not on, neither ingame or in nvidia control panel.
Probably, but DOOM isn't that much easier, difficulty level being the same. It's way different is all.
Reminder that people who believe this game is exactly like halo 5 either haven't played D44M or haven't played Halo 5. Or both.
Are you actually in the game or are you just dicking around in the settings screen of the main menu?
ignorant comments on Sup Forums? oh gee
in the game, been playing for 5 hours.
You know where the Soul Cube is?
Beside it in the tank, that thing is the Mother Demon from Doom 64.
Cool references in this game honestly. I wonder if that's just an easter egg or a hint about the next Doom though.
is it me, or it's painfully obvious that vega will be your personal assistant in next doom?
sounds cool
As long as he doesn't talk much. He was cool but he only talked a few times and Doom is a series that doesn't talk much.
Doom 3 being the exception, and hopefully the only one.
Since he's made from Hell-tech, I'm more expecting him to be a twist antagonist.
>This game had way too few arena shootouts.
Should have been longer
without arenas the fastpaced combat and focus on movement wouldn't work.
in my opinion the leveldesign was perfect.
Don't care as long as it doesn't take 8 years to come out like this did.
I hope to god we get a singleplayer expac at some point.
I'm really glad it took 8 years to come out.
If we'd gotten DOOM on time Doom as a series would be dead now with no chance of revival.
Call of Doom would have definitely killed the series, even if it was successful, we'd just get Call of Doom 2.
I have no problem at all with the enemies spawning into the room, I think it's just nitpicking to argue that they should be standing around waiting for you like Doom 1 and 2.
With that said I do agree it sucks that the game so often does lock you in and you have to kill everything. Doom 1 is one of the few games where it's actually fun to speed run.
og doom is still better
ITT: bunch of shitheads justifying spending 60 buckaroos on a horrible game
Oh fuck
>spending money on good games is a bad idea
Yeah, but ti doesn't make this DOOM not good.
It was an actually decent adapatation for the modern shooter genre.
The Multiplayer, on the other hand, JESUS. That's shit.
>FPS of the decade
>horrible
Let me guess, you saw some Youtube video from someone who has never played Doom before and they said it was icky and bad, right?
I really hope id does the multiplayer in-house next time. Giving it to Certain Affinity was a big mistake.
Playing some classic maps now. Those possessed soldiers can be a pain. And the Pinkies in narrow areas. But the Pinkies glitch out at times on the classic maps.
I love that the trophy was called "Shoot it until it dies."
I can't tell if you're making fun of the autists that complain about this or are one of those autists.
But user, there's no reference to ET on Atari.
The Hell Guards were something very unexpected in Doom and dug it.
They didn't bug me, but I hope the next game opens up a bit and spaces out the enemy encounters.
And takes place on Earth
Honestly, I kinda feel like they are testing the waters for a Quake revival. Then all the autists bitching about no rocket jumping in Doom 2016 (when it wasn't in Doom to begin with) can rocket jump to their heart's content.
Me too. Had an expansion been in the season pass, I might've gotten it. As of now, while I thought the beta was enjoyable enough, I have played exactly no multiplayer. At least from what I hear some balance issues were worked out. I'm trying to bug some friends into getting the game so we can play deathmatch maps on SnapMap.
I spent $120 to get the agitating skeleton statue, fight me.
>when it wasn't in Doom to begin with
There was rocket sliding, though.
I wish there had been a reference to Wolfenstein, but Doom 4 and TNO are similar enough that it isn't hard to believe they take place in the same universe. That more than makes up for it if you ask me.
Me too.
I want the Laserkraftwerk as a secret weapon too.
I get over 100 FPS in Doom. There was one level/cutscene where the FPS as locked to 60, but that lasted only ~8 min
The whole series is just "shoot at it until it dies"
That's all it ever needs to be.
HD44M when?
>literally the worst game of all time
what the fuck am I reading?
do you even remember desert bus? or ET? or that shit SJW "game" that consisted of nothing but a text file?
being a disappointment compared to it's predecessors is hardly "literally the worst game of all time"
What are your specs? I have an i7 4790k, 16GB of RAM, a 980, and the game is installed on a SSD and while I mostly got a solid 60 at all Ultra settings, I did get dips into what felt like the low 40s on two occasions
CRACK WHEN?!
I had the same issue on my 970. What's even weirder is both the in-game framerate counter and my 3rd party counter all said I was locked at a solid 60FPS.
Turned out, it was all micro-stutter, and turning down the texture page size fixed everything
there is lewd mods?
It's not been cracked yet?
>6600K
>16G RAM
>980ti
>1440@144Hz
Everything at max except for Blur, DOF, etc..
I really want a Baron of Hell to ram his giant demon cock in my tight, virgin ass
>Your ass
>Virginial
Not fucking likely
Sucks that all Beth will probably talk about relative to id at E3 this year is Doom DLC, we'll have to wait til next year for them to announce Quake 5.
New TES when?
I have a really shitty PC, is the PS4 version still enjoyable?
It's got meme DRM.
Yes. Very.
Are you ready for Skyrim 2?
I hate the Cyberdemon redesign so much.
What lewd mods?
Fuck no. I want HD Morrowind Reboot
>Finish game
>Want more
>Look up season pass
>It's all multiplayer only content
>mfw
Until the intel said it was the Cyberdemon, I didn't realize it was the new Cyberdemon design.
I know. So stupid.
Who knows, maybe they'll make an equivalent to the Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.
Have Doomguy fight his way off hell or something.
At least there's some really good, creative SnapMap stuff coming out now.
Is it weird that Doomguy's design bothers me way more than it should?
I like almost everything about the game, but every time I see that plain looking Sci-Fi suit I can't help but be bummed out every time. It just feels like he deserves better
Shit, this makes sense actually.
He could have transferred into Samuel's robotic body instead of Samuel.
