Banjo Threeie perhaps

Not a chance

I wouldn't bet on it.

when hell freeze over

Not very high. If anything, maybe a tease. If Sea of Thieves is still set for 2016, expect it to be shown in full.

Kirkhope's Twitter and some of his interviews seem to hint at it. A new Banjo could compete with Yooka Laylee.

Not at all could it compete with Yooka Laylee. I'm not even that hyped for Y-L, but at least it's the actual B-J devs making it

I doubt they're working on it, m8. And even if they are, the majority of the original banjo team is working on yooka laylee, and the only one actually still at rare; greg mylees, is working on Sea of thieves.

>What are the chances
s-rare

Betting that there's going to be an Xbox only level pack featuring a playable Banjo-Kazooie taking on Yooka-Laylee in some 4th wall breaking shenaningans with the xbone version of Yooka-Laylee.

Of course, no one has said the obvious yet. This has to be the year.

UNLOAD
THE
TOAD

Fighting Froggos seems like a good bet.

Have they even shown Sea of Thieves footage yet that isn't pre-rendered?

The original trailer was in game and they showed in engine clips on their twitter.

This. Even if Microsoft Rare tries to compete by making Banjo-Threeie or or anything involving the bear and bird, they got no chance on making an actual good game compared to what the true rare team can do. They're too focused on appealing to the Cawadoodie kiddies to even bother, or just vomit pile of shit like youtube.com/watch?v=uQeOYi3Be5Y

Maybe a new Battletoads, seeing as there are some rumors and musings from the Rare devs on KI about it, and Rash being in KI definitely helped to boost interest.

Part of me is expecting something to do with Banjo, due to Yooka-Laylee showing there's still obvious interest in the franchise, but I'm sure most people will probably still stick with Y-L anyway. We don't want another repeat of what happened with Nuts and Bolts...

I'm expecting just Sea of Thieves though. Probably full on gameplay and a release date.

who cares? all the good Rare devs are working on YookaLaylee

Only 2 or 3 people from the original team are working on it, excluding Kirkhope's music contributions. Microsoft could easily outdo Playtonic if they gave the the current Rare the freedom (and funds) to compete.

Rare is no more

War Amphibians most likely

What would a modern Battletoads be like anyway?

>appealing to the Cawadoodie kiddies
That's Sony's job now

Some kind of beat em' up platformer that has different gimmicks every level.

So two dead genres put together and a load of gimmicks?

Yooka-Layla

It's not about freedom or resources, it's about wanting to do it.Rare doesn't want to do it, everyone who left Rare to join Playtonic clearly does.

The people who jumped to Playtonic also left because they didn't see a future for Rare. They didn't ever expect the big "Dream" project to be greenlit

I described the NES game

Yeah, but what would a modern Battletoads be? Arcade-like things work great for downloadable titles, but what would AAA Battletoads look like?

youtube.com/watch?v=ARHVKZ5K1b0

Like this but with Battletoads

I'd say the chances are so slim it's basically 0%

UNLOAD THE TOAD

EXHIBIT THE RIBBIT

UNCLOG THE FROG

STOKE THE CROAK

Very low.
Battletoads is the only thing I can see making a comeback, and it would probably just be a small digital-only release. Battletoads is literally a meme game. It wasn't that good

That's my point, can you really see a good BK revival come out of that situation?

Seems stupid to say that passion and dedication could be outdone with Microsoft resources when that's really not what it's about.

>It wasn't that good

Nah fuck you, Battletoads is still one of the best and most ambitious games on the NES. I dare you to find a game on the same system that has as much variety as Battletoads.

Think again. Sea of Thieves marked Rare's return to being bold, adventurous and new.

What they also have to show, well, lets just say it will be announced with a rhyme.

no they appeal to the "muh cinematic experience" faggots.

>Rare's return to being bold, adventurous and new.
>multiplayer pirate ship game
>bold, adventurous and new
wew. if this is new means for Rare, then it's got no chance in hell

Rare is currently putting all their manpower towards Sea of Thieves so if anything else gets announced it'll probably be a small XBLA title. Banjo Threeie is not happening as proved by Yooka Laylee and Sea of Thieves.

What I hope to see is if another old Rare IP gets a reboot by a different studio that looks as good as Killer Instinct.

Battletoads and maybe Banjo Threeie.

I honestly hope the Sea of Thieves project is more than just a mmo too. Kinda getting tired of these online only experiences.

user please, I love Battletoads but Super Mario Bros 3 has more variety and much better graphics and music.

>Mario 3
>variety

It's a platformer at it's base.

ffs

It's a DAMN fine platform game.

There's a chance. They have 3 dev teams and 2 of those are working on Sea Of Thieves. Also they recently hired a bunch of people looking for people who had experience with an engine that is different than the one SoT is using
>but at least it's the actual B-J devs making it
You mean it has actual Nuts and Bolts devs making it. The only ones who didn't work on Nuts N Bolts are just fucking artists.

It's not an mmo.

People have only being saying that cause the names appear on top of players heads like an MMO. It's a shared world game like Destiny, hopefully better than Destiny.

SoT isn't an MMO. They described it as a "shared world adventure game" but who knows what the fuck that actually means.

I'd say it's almost certain we'll see Yooka-Laylee

Forget Rare. Yooka Laylay is where it's at.

Why not both?

Yooka-Laylee is BY Rare, or at least "everyone who was ever involved in making a good game at Rare"

I'm more interested in Rare's pirate game desu senpai. Always wanted to see Gregg Mayles do a pirate game so it's my dream come true.

But that plus yooka is win win for me.

I don't trust that much in Kickstarter projects.

There are rumors and hints for a new Battletoads made by Rare.Even someone in neogaf leaked it along with Sea of Thieves.

>everyone who was ever involved in making a good game at Rare
You're either literally retarded or a shill. They have like 3 people that actually did anything big for Rare like Sutherland, Steve Mayles, and Kevin Bayliss, but most of the people are either QA or artists which means jack shit since Rares art style has always been trash. They're still missing like 75 percent of the good people that were at Rare like Greg Mayles, Stamper Brothers, Chris Seavor, Robin Beanland, Martin Hollis, Peter Beanland, and a handful of other people.

>Chris Seavor
>working on BK
are we on a ruse cruise now? I didn't know there still existed Rare apologists.

They haven't had a good game in 17 years user

Let go.

What other multiplayer pirate ship games are there?

The idea of a modern battletoads used to scare me cause of how they would handle the style of it.

But, I really love Rash in Killer Instinct. More of him aint a bad thing, especially with good gameplay.

there are enough ship combat games to make it uninteresting to me at least.

Say that to my face in real life and see what happens

thanks doc

>Rares art style has always been trash.
Art style has always been the only thing Rare had going for it.

Most of their games had utter trash gameplay. They were beloved for their style, their writing, their characters and their music. And that's who left Rare.

So what's left? They already did their Donkey Kong Country reboot, what other games did they make that anyone gives a shit about? Goldeneye/PD aged like milk, everything good about Banjo packed up and left for Yooka Laylee, and Killer Instinct was a third-tier game that already got a third-tier reboot.

Rare-at-M$ will forever be the team that shat out Kinect games for a generation. Whatever made them magic is either dead or jumped ship for other opportunities. All they are now is a hollowed-out husk of a name.

Usually you have one person controlling one ship, though. Not multiple people crewing a ship.

Viva Pinata is in their top 5 games dude

I also didn't hate Nuts & Bolts.

>Not multiple people crewing a ship.
guns of icarus

In fairness, the Stampers aren't with Rare anymore, Hollis hasn't been for a long time, and nobody gives a shit about Beanland if Kirkhope is around.

So yeah, YL got everyone who was still AT Rare that was worth a fuck.

>usually

You can also add Hazeron if you include spaceships.

Did Beanland work on BK? I only know him for the Killer Instinct stuff.

>A programmer/voice of KI announcer
>Lead designer of the original Killer Instinct games, IE Rares worst games that aren't on the ZX Spectrum
>One of the two original designers of B&K
>Everyone who was at Rare that was worth a fuck

Beanland didn't do Bk. He's more known for the fantastic Conker BFD/LaR soundtrack which he won a BAFTA for.

I also believe he cowrote Conker as well, but I maybe wrong.

>The programmer and voice of Banjo and Kazooie
ftfy

Rare working on something besides Sea of Thieves? Slim to none.

A Rare franchise being worked on by a different developer? Decent chance, probably Battletoads.

>lists 3 people
>15 people went to Playtonic when it started
>they snapped up more since the YL KS
>didn't even mention Kirkhope
>didn't even mention Wise

WHO IS LEFT AT RARE, user.

I'm being serious. What great creative mind is left?

Well, you've got Gregg, although I'm not sure anyone trusts him anymore after Nuts & Bolts.

Louise O'Connor. Got to meet her a couple of months ago, she's really cool.

didn't she voice Berry?

As long as the developers know what makes Battletoads memorable (and a good budget), I believe we could a great game. I think that a modern Battletoads could use a GodHand gameplay-style mixed with a lot of genres (shooters, racers, 2d bet em up...)

Yeah, the sunflower and Jugga too

It's the nuts and bolts team that are making yokka. It's the biggest bait and switch I've seen and everyone fell for it.

.look at the artwork and compare it to nuts and bolts. It's the same thing. For fucks sake !

Yup. Was really weird hearing her in person.

based

So sick of this gay VR bullshit

>yfw new conker
>windows 10 and xbox one exclusive

What, new people aren't allowed to have talent now?

We already got that. HoloLens exclusive.

Well no shit you silly sonygger

This is what irks me about people's criticisms against Rare. I really hope the new hands prove them wrong, a lot of good talent there.

I don't think you blame anyone for being down on the current Rare.

I don't know. I just hope Sea Of Thieves is good. After playing through Uncharted 4 I have a hankering for a fun pirate game that isn't AC4.
