I'm getting the RX 480
>being cucked by nvidia
>any year

>midrange card

No thanks senpai.

I don't play on the PC. As I've gotten older, I've realized I value ease of use. I don't want to have to update drivers, wrestle windows 10, or have some huge ass tower running super loud. I want to slap a disk in and get playing.

This isn't a why you or why you don't PC game thread.

My PC is silent on medium load, my drivers update themselves, I've found that once I set up my PC, it's more convenient than a console.

EVGA SC or FTW. Can't wait to drop my 280x.

When are they coming?

I don't know yet, I'll wait for the canadian prices and the benchmarks to come out. I'm split between Gigabyte, ASUS and EVGA.

I have a 670 atm, 5 years old....will this be worth?

Depends. You might wanna wait for AMD's new Polaris

how the fuck should we know, theyre not out yet! nobody has tried them!

ofc

goes

Consider the 1070 instead.

ROG Strix seems like the one to get as it has an additional power connector, high clock speed and low price. It's also releasing earlier. I may just end up getting that one, the OC edition is $20 more.

getting 1080 ti or new TITAN

im fine with 980 ti

Unless if you're one of those autists who buys the most expensive card only to not play on a 4k monitor, the 1070 is a much better choice

what about 1440p at 144fps tho you fag

will this card do 4k/60fps as the defacto standard?

>multiplats and indie games

dumb PC cucks

My 7950 bit the bullet today.

Waiting to hear how the faults and problems pan out for the aftermarkets before purchasing a 1080. I'm running off integrated for the time being. It's hell.

Im eyeing that 1070 to upgrade from my 770, is it gonna be $380?

actually I found a review

gamespot.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-review/1100-6439863/

it looks like it struggles with a few games especially metro last light. Maybe next generation.

>paying twice as much money for 5 more fps

Why not go down a tier yourself and save some cash for "only 5fps"

I'm going to pick up the evga hydrocopper. I have a grossly underutilized liquid cooling system.

4k already is a standard if you can afford the monitor. You can play 4k at reasonable settings even on a 390x/980.

by that logic nobody should have ever bought a 1920x1080 monitor because nobody could even get 30fps Metro 2033.

High? Yes. Maxed? No.

he or she dos not want to downgrade. he o she has an nvidi card because he or she has a PC and use a PC as a PC not as a game console.
AMD is all about games and gaming only. its sad that a 950 still out benchmarks the top AMD card when it comes to no game related programs. and nvidia is still more stable with background processes. so no its a downgrade.

I just ordered the not-oc EVGA one with the acx 3.0 cooling, familia. Got a good deal on it.

Yeaah boiii

What're the differences between the 1070 and the 1080? Is there one that would be better overall

1070 is worse, that's the obvious difference

If you want full details type 1070 vs 1080 in google

Here it is. Don't like the aesthetics much, but it was more than a 100 bucks cheaper than the others from decent brands.

I need a reference card because I have shit airflow and nvidia is going to get an extra 100 bucks out of me

fug

The difference is 10.

At least get the FTW edition.
The reference is dogshit, just don't buy one.

I would concede you had a point if current gen consoles were actually plug and play and weren't loud as fuck themselves. The initial setup is easier I guess, but doesn't seem like a worthwhile trade off. I actually thought the ps4 I borrowed to play Bloodborne was going to fucking explode the fan was so loud.

What's my alternative? my 980ti SC+ hits 85c under load at 60% fan curve because I bought into the small case meme.

>At least get the FTW edition.

It wasn't worth the extra cost. The cheapest FTW card was more than 100 bucks more expensive where I live.

How long until there are prebuilts with 1080s in them?

Seems like the 1070 would be an all around better choice.

>falling for the 1080 meme

and a space heater

>implying consoles aren't loud
>implying you don't have to update console games

Why do they call it they 1080?

Because you turn in a circle and walk away

Already preordered 2 of the founders editions.

lol

MSI for me

>Owning a gaming PC

Enjoy my watered down console ports faggots

This. 1070 like performance for about $150 less than Nvida's card? You can't beat that shit.

Getting a 1080 ACX 3.0 model. Seems like they ran out of SC versions and aren't going to add the FTW or Classified on to step up. Oh well, not paying anything but shipping is good enough for me.

Probably the 1070. You're paying 55% more for just 25% more power with the 1080.

>1st gen specifically made for VR
Enjoy your meme gear. 1st gen always sucks.

85 is safe but the reference 1080 isn't exactly quiet and great on temps, it'll help since it's a blower with the overall case temp.

IMO, it's not worth it.

EVGA FTW

>1070 like performance
>150$ less

can't make this up

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nice speculation.

>tfw nvidia has sold 100s of thousands of reference 1080 cards in tiny Sweden, judging by the numbers on the country's review sites.

EVGA FTW I believe, not sure yet. Maybe upgrade around the end of next month.

>FTW
>So random XD FOR THE WIN!!!11
kys

When did midrange mean having the best card available?

i prefer to get at least two years out of my cards

How does the 1070 compare to the 1080, Sup Forums? Is it worth the buy at all?

In my experience both the Xbone and PS4 are pretty quiet and only ramp up the fan when in a cramped spot prone to overheating.

The GTX 1070 will probably be more popular overall than the GTX 1080.

From the benchmarks I've been seeing you're generally looking at about a 20% difference between the two depending on the game. Sometimes the difference is like 10fps and sometimes it's over 20, but there's no way people won't be flocking to the 1070 considering they were still buying the 970 up until the Pascal cards were announced. It's basically just a Titan X/980ti that's much cheaper.

I did have the ps4 in a TV cabinet tbf. My wii u is quite loud, but I have a near silent PC as the main point of comparison, so that is probably distorting my perception.

better than any AMD card out there
all you need to know

AMD's Vega is when they'll start releasing competent cards.

I don't give a fuck. Not waiting on couple Pakis to finish their job.
By the time Nvidia got Ti version new Titan out.

ty, shill senpai

-another poorfaggot eyeing the 1070

Why do people call products memes? How is a product a meme?

Xbox uses W10 lol

>better price performance than 1080
>lower temps
>not even $400
>still easy 144FPS 1080p gaming and 60FPS 1440 at max settings
My fucking DICK

muh dik, I was saving up for a Vortex Strike Eagle but optics can wait.

they'll probably only release windows 10 drivers, locking out us comfy 7 users

The founders edition is 449 USD

The one sold to aftermarket retailers is 399 USD.

Good thing they're releasing drivers for Linux then.

>1440
Who fucking cares about a meme resolution.

Yeah but who the hell is gonna buy the founders edition when they can just wait a little to get coolers like the ACX 3.0 or the Twin Frozr?

I was building a rig to co-inside with the GTX 1080 launch before we knew about the "Founders" edition cucking and my balls were so full of semen that I bought it anyway. I'm currently using a 7870 with an 8350 CPU.

the guy below you apparently

you?

I hope you can use MSI Afterburner and I hope you can deal with an audible blower.

...

This is the specs of my new rig

CPU: 6700k
RAM: 32gb g.skill ripjaws 3000mhz
MOBO: Asus Z170-A
Cooler: NZXT Kraken
PSU: 650w EVGA SuperNOVA P2
SSD: 512gb 850 Pro
HDD: 4tb WD Black

I fixed that cable running through the middle before putting the side panel back on and the other one hanging is GPU power

nice Sup Forumslog dude /sub'd/ keep em coming

...

where can you preorder these

>6700k
Stove replacement?

ROG STRIX baybee.

NCIX has them available for preorder I called their office though and the lady said it would be 4-6 weeks

nah it's a pizza warmer at best. maybe if I went the an x99 platform chip I could have replaced my oven.

fucking computer in the kitchen and you spent like 2k on that piece of shit and you can't even bother buying a decent mouse keyboard and monitor

>NZXT
Truly the Razor of PC gaming

>Computer in the fucking kitcher?

What the fuck?

Probably an EVGA SC. Moving up to 1440p later this year and I'm wondering if I should go for a 1070 or a 1080.

Why? They don't make bad shit and some of their cases look really good
