Won't have a gaming PC for a while, roommate has an Xbox One and is getting DOOM. Is there any way I can hook up mouse and keyboard to this shit?

It isn't the 90's any more. Twin stick controllers are the superior method for movement and aiming. Shh shh shh, no no, don't be afraid, come into the truth, I promise it won't hurt.
>Twin stick controllers are the superior method for movement and aiming
no, this isnt true, mouse and keyboard is simply better, you cant do an instant 180 turn with a controller. however twin sticks are pretty serviceable depending upon the game assists
>...And to rotate further, you just hold the direction for a longer time!
Good thing split seconds aren't important in shooters, or else this would be a massive unsolvable hindrance.
>pull the right stick to the right or left
>you instantly turn around
Are you literally mentally retarded?
actually, with high enough sensitivity, an instant 180 turn is easily possible. Not saying either mouse or sticks is better than the other, just different
are you retarded?
you simply cannot rotate your controller cursor with the same speed and precision as a mouse. why is this even a debate
Movement yes
Aiming no
>a sharp, semi-circular swipe around the mouse pad augmented with holding a directional
>panic and you'll overshoot, turning too much or end up looking up or down
>this is better than tight, measured control
You suck
>panic
look at this casual
Oh yeah that's right, PC has no good FPS games that you can get immersed in

Titan X.
It's a USB attachment that allows you to use any controller on any console including mouse and keyboard.
It takes more skill to aim with a stick, this adds more depth and more enjoyment when you finally get hold of aiming and start to consistently hit your targets. That's why old Halo is so enjoyable, nailing a headshot with a sniper in Halo 3 or out DMRing your opponent in Reach is always satisfying as fuck. But now it's different. There is too much aim-assist in new FPS games on consoles, that fucking shit about forcefully making everyone equal to each other is getting to us.
You cannot, I played it on PS4 and it's pretty solid though for a console shooter. Doesn't match a mouse and keyboard, but it's more competent than most console shooters.
I agree. Aiming pretty good. OP for Xbox One you should turn off look smoothing completely and set the sensitivity somewhere in the 50 region. Webm is my first encounter with Hell Knight.
>Movement yes
Debatable. How often do you ever need more than 8 directions, and how often do you need to move at anything but max speed?
>It takes more skill to aim with a stick
That's why consoles need aimbots on by default.
I own both and considered buying it on Xbone because I like the controller but Digital Foundry said it was marginally better on PS4. Both versions look great though, probably the best looking 60fps game on PS4/One.
No aimbots are there because of dumb developers who are too afraid that the average joe gets his ass handed to him in multiplayer by people who can actually aim and quits.
Name one successful console FPS that has no autoaim.
>probably the best looking 60fps game on PS4/One.
Yup, i agree. As xbone owner i believe you better off with the PS4 version, unless you REALLY like the controller. Because PS4 probably has a lot more people playing.
PS4 also has crossplay with PC.
Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 from top of my head. They have NO aim assist at all. I can't include Halo in this list because it has some aim-assist mechanics, but they don't hold your hand completely and you need to have a lot of skill to aim in old non 343 Halo games, especially with sniper rifle.
Haven't played the Bad Company games, but 3 had aim assist on consoles.
Really? In multiplayer or in snapmap?
Yes, BF3 is where they started to dumb down Battlefield on consoles because they started to chase that CoD audience with BF3. BF4 has the fucking aimbot included.
Regardless, aiming on a controller isn't more "difficult", it's just more limiting. A mouse gives you much more freedom to do what you want.
But more limiting practically means more difficult. And if you good enough there is no limits for you even on console. Look at this guy: youtube.com
But you need to be REALLY good to do that.
honestly I haven't even played multiplayer once, I just buy most of my multiplats on PS4 so it's sorta my go to. If they had been 100% identical I'd have gotten it on Xbone because really I would like to own more games on the platform.
I did not know this was the case, pretty awesome if true
>practically means more difficult
In the same way playing with your feet is more difficult.
>slow movement
>aim assist

Check out what real skill looks like.
>pretty awesome if true
Kinda doubt it. PS4 games don't have cheaters, because it's not possible to run unsigned code on PS4, but on PC cheaters exist in huge numbers because of how easy it is to download and run cheats on PC. Some people play consoles to not play with cheaters, cross-platform play with PC will ruin that.
Doesn't Doom use Denuvo? Denuvo is owned by Sony if I recall
I thought that the doomguy was the only one who was in a sarcophagus
(steam screenshot, it's shit)
>In the same way playing with your feet is more difficult.
So be it. But playing with your feet is more difficult. Fact.
But why would you want to limit yourself to the point where the game needs to make up for your shortcomings?
How can Denuvo stop cheating? It's anti-piracy protection not an anti-cheat. And anti-cheat on PC never guarantees that there be no cheaters. Only known pubic cheats get caught. Owners of pricey private cheats always run free.
>tight and measured
All euphemisms aside, this user literally just admitted consoles are slow as shit.
I was under the impression that Denuvo stops you from tampering with any of the game's files. I don't know because I don't own a single game on Steam that uses Denuvo.
>where the game needs to make up for your shortcomings
Game doesn't need to. But stupid developers want the average joe to succeed and have fun, like if you stop holding his hand he will stop playing. There is no aim-assist of any kind on sniper rifle in Halo by the way, rewatch with this fact in mind. Also bear in mind that Halo 3 is a 30 fps game. It's hard to aim as is. In 60fps games with good sensitivity curve like DOOM there is no need for any aim assist. Blame the fucking devs for stupid auto-aim.
Hidden Path have released Xbox 360 version of CS GO long time ago. It was running in 30 FPS and had NO AIM ASSIST at all and people were playing it just fine. It was very popular in XBL.
In short: blame pussy devs.
>Game doesn't need to.
It does. Nobody will ever play an autoaim-less shooter on console because it's garbage. Movement has to also be slow because tracking fast targets on console is impossible.
> There is no aim-assist of any kind on sniper rifle in Halo by the way
Yes there is. You get a red reticle, which means that the sniper is going to get pulled when your target moves.
>360 version of CSGO
>and people were playing it
Stop lying.
Now you're just in straight up denial.
You're the one who thinks aiming with an analog stick takes more skill than aiming with a mouse.
Maybe because it does?
But I'm the one in denial.
>I need to play on easy mode (kb+m): the thread
aiming with that shit requires no efford at all and becomes boring pretty quickly (unless is something fast like unreal tournament)
I play on PC and consoles, aiming with a mouse is much easier and faster. Definitely provides the superior aiming experience.
>easier
It's not, because aim assist exists. Literally anything you can do on a controller you can do on a mouse with no limits.
fucking google it you dense piece of shit.
I literally only play games with blindfolds on. I also only use my eyebrows to press buttons.
Yes you are! If all other variables are the same it is harder to aim at the same target with an analog stick than it is with a mouse. It takes more skill.
>Literally anything you can do on a controller you can do on a mouse with no limits.
no shit you retard, that's why i said aiming with a mouse is easier. It is objectively easier because it's a superior input method for aiming. Aim assist exists sure, but it's still garbage and does not equal using a mouse.
If it takes so much more skill, then why isn't Quake played on Xbox?
Nice logical fallacy. Made me reply.
Playing blindfolded and with my eyebrows only takes more skill objectively/
Because Quake is a PC game? It's like me asking why Halo isn't played on PC. Quake community is a PC community.
>Because Quake is a PC game?
It's on Xbox too. According to you, it's an even better display of skill than the PC version could ever dream to be!
Because analog sticks are objectively shittier and would make the game harder to play and enjoy
I don't know what you don't get about this, a mouse is definitely easier and is a superior input method as a result. It doesn't mean the skill ceiling for a mouse is super low or something, or that the best console players are better than the best PC players. A mouse is simply easier because it fucking is, it's faster and more responsive. To play at the same level on a controller requires way more skill than a mouse because it's so much shittier.
>would make the game harder to play
So it would be more skillful...
It's not possible to play with your eyebrows and blindfolded. But it is possible to aim and play with a controller. But it does takes more skill to be good at aiming with a controller. That is why it is more rewarding. You just sound like an angry kid who thinks that PC is superior and there is no way on earth games could be fun to play on consoles.
>It's not possible to play with your eyebrows and blindfolded
git gud, faggot
So I just bought doom on the PC and when I load this bitch the menu screen is just a red screen but I can still hear the audio of the mouse hovering over the buttons
anyone else having this issue?
>So it would be more skillful...
Yes, definitely. I am much better with a mouse than I am with a controller. I've seen people on controllers that do shit I couldn't hope to do, and I've got both the PS4 and Xbox One and have played both a lot.
Mouse is easier because it is a superior input method
>he shave his brows to look like SSJ 3
You mean on original long dead Xbox or you mean that shitty XBLA port on 360 with horrendous netcode? Take a guess why people not playing it.
Well Halo 2 is on PC too. As i said PC is a home to Quake community, just like Xbox is home to Halo community. They will not migrate to other platforms. Because Quake was made for PC and people are used to playing it on PC, they don't want any change.
Halo 2 has fucked mouse controls.
Quake on 360 has fucked analog controls, 30 FPS and horrendous net code. Take guess why people not playing it.
>has enough money for a PS4/xbone but not a good PC
>Mouse is easier because it is a superior input method
That's what i've been telling this guy for i don't know how long already, he is just so fucking stubborn.
Why would he spend more money on a third platform for the same game with slightly better graphics and steam drm
>Physical copy that you can run online or offline any time
>Steam digital shit with third party DRM
my pc is fine, I can play the games I want to play on it
some PC masterrace people are retarded
I definitely prefer a mouse for aiming because it's easier. I don't mind a controller but it's more of a challenge as you either have to be much better at timing or you're just straight up slower.
controllers are too slow and lower skill gap
>I definitely prefer a mouse for aiming because it's easier
for single player games it makes a difference but for multiplayer you gotta remember everyone else is using it too...been playing halo for 12 years with a controller. kbm is easier but in the end raises the skill gap because you're able tot ake out more people at once and faster
>lower skill gap
bullshit you need more skill with a controller because of how shit it is
im sure if i had doom on PC i would have finished nightmare in one sitting
sure, a mouse is easier so everyone is better with a mouse, that doesn't change the fact that it's easier
they both require a lot of muscle memory. in the end aim assist can still save you a lot which wouldn't happen with a mouse. you panic, you miss
>im sure if i had doom on PC i would have finished nightmare in one sitting
also im sure you would've. this is why a lot of pc fans hate newer fps because they're so good with kbm they can breeze through any single player fps.
actually aim assist has been cucking me hard in doom
...
from a competitive standpoint aim assist is just stupid. it'll force you to shoot people in the background when you're treally trying to hit people in front of you
>this is why a lot of pc fans hate newer fps because they're so good with kbm
It's the same shit on console. Hardcore players want more challenge because they good with aiming on a controller. But there is none, because of how safe the game design is nowadays.
>It's the same shit on console
its not, kbm is 1000x faster. nearly instant. makes a lot of fps games where a player sees another player first take more skill, especially in cs. with a controller it's almost impossible to turn on someone unless the player is complete dog siht
Yup. In Halo it is a frequent trick to run in front of the enemy so the aim assist would pick you up and he will not be able to finish off your teammate behind you. Kinda adds depth in it's own right. But still stupid.
I haven't played Halo in two years, I guarantee within 4 matches of the newest Halo which I have never played I'll be number one or two every pug consistently
I will get my shit fucked if I try to take on anyone in Duel or CTF in UT4 and I play shooters on PC
if it does require more skill with a controller then I'm a fucking demi god compared to most normies
I guarantee there's literally no difference between an FPS on consoles or on PC
PC players can use controllers and consoles have adapters for Keyboard and Mouse. There's nothing more pathetic than using what control scheme you use as an excuse for why you suck.
>I guarantee within 4 matches of the newest Halo which I have never played I'll be number one or two every pug consistently
I wouldn't count on that. Halo 5 matches you with players of your skill level. There is a rating system and you can actually become number 1 champion there if you have what it takes, but you will only be playing with top dogs if you that good. Go try to be No.1 in dozen FFA games consistently in Halo 5.
ok well now you're comparing it to entirely different games. don't even mention halo 5 though, it's shit
