Worth getting into the series or is it just good if you played it as a kid or are autistic.
Kingdom Hearts
You the same guy who made a thread a little while ago that had like 3 replies? It's a good series with good combat and interesting characters. It relies a lot on nostalgia though. Not for the game but the characters and setting of the cross over material.
You are gonna have a hard time if you can't have fun running through disney movies.
First game is all around solid.
2 has better gameplay, worse story.
All the other ones should be regarded as non canon trash.
>What is BBS ?
>What is CoM ?
>What is DDD ?
If you want to understand the story, you better play at least those
Fine, yes. That was me. I just wanted to try again. Thanks for the reply, though. I've never been into Disney but I'm not against it.
I'm going to try to have fun, that's for sure. Why are Moogles in the game?
I have Chain of memories, it came with the remix. I assume I play that next?
Re:CoM is not CoM, it's pure shit
Play the original on GBA, instead
i thought the first game had better gameplay. in 2 it was mash triangle to win
maybe i was playing on normal mode as a kid, i heard the hard difficulty has a lot more stuff
Don't listen to this idiot
Re:CoM is better in every way unless you particularly like retro pixel art and no voice acting. But even then Re:CoM is the canon version.
Thank you, I was getting a bit disapointed there for a sec.
Thanks, I'm going to go enjoy KH now. I just wanna try a new series and I hear KH was good.
Man, I wish that the Remixes would get a PS4 port. I went with the 360 last gen.
Anyway OP, yeah, KH is worth it. The gameplay is pretty fun, and this is coming from someone that has always preferred CN and barely likes Disney movies.
>All the other ones should be regarded as non canon trash.
How can someone be this wrong?
>Why are Moogles in the game?
Because it's a crossover with Diney and Final Fantasy?
Shit taste
It's worth getting into. The games are fun. The story is simple in KH 1 but things get batshit insane afterwards. You will be in for a wild ride. Here's a ranking of the games:
KH 2 Final Mix > KH 1 Final Mix > Birth by Sleep Final Mix > Re:Coded > Dream Drop Distance > Re:Chain of Memories >>> 358/2 Days >>>> Unchained X
The games are fun as fuck OP but the story gets batshit insane. You're either gonna love or hate the story. Personally, I love it. It's like a trainwreck. You know it's horrible but you can't look away because of how interesting it is
It's a Final Fantasy and Disney crossover. Moogles are your biggest question? Not the fact that Cloud, Squall and Tidus are all in the game? Or that Aerith is alive? Or why Squall is older yet Tidus, Wakka and Selphie are kids?
I didn't know about Cloud being in the game. I'm only 2 hours in...
Don't spoil shit
It's not really a spoiler. Clouds on the back cover of the game. And you meet pretty much everyone after a couple levels.
Holy fuck wait those are some damn good questions why is that?
It's ok, wasn't implying you are spoiling anything for me, I know the risk I take being in/making these threads.
Just didn't know about Cloud being in the game, which is pretty neat.
I'm currently fighting the boss right after Goofy and Donald fall on me(we just met basically) and it's kicking my ass.
Final Mix mode?
Whoops. Sorry OP. But really it's not a big spoiler. If you're two hours in you're going to meet him shortly. But you've already met the Moogles, Squall, Yuffie, Aerith and Cid so Cloud shouldn't be a shock
Focus on the body with arial attacks. You'l hit the arms and legs one the way. Buy the time you are about to die you can focus on the arms (the weakest) and get the HP from it to heal. If you didn't know, you can use the keyblade to deflect attacks buy hitting them when the come your way.
It's like an alternate universe sort of deal. Fun fact: Rikku was supposed to be in the first game, but Nomura thought that would have been confusing with Riku so he gave Yuffie her spot and outfit. Rikku later shows up in KH2 though.
>Yuffie her spot and outfit.
And her personality. Yuffie is a theiving bitch 7, not happy go lucky like she in in KH.
is that the difficulty? because i'm on proud, the hardest.
It's all good, just didn't know Cloud would be in this game.
Thank you for the advice, user! Only tried him 3 times so far. Going to attempt again.
So what made the japanese make a FF/Disney crossover game anyways?
>So what made the japanese make a FF/Disney crossover game anyways?
Basically they were shooting the shit and Nomura overheard. I mean there's a bit more to than that, but that's the gist of it.
I did better that time.
What does it mean when goofy and donald are sitting on their asses with stars over their head?
Final Mix is a KH1 with some small addition and reworked abilities/items.
Nomura, the director, wanted to compete with Mario, and wanted to use iconic characters in his game, and seriously, square and disney worked in the same building and execs met in an elevator to pitch the game.
Square wanted mickey to be the MC, Disney wanted Donald to be, because they didn't want mickey's image to sell the game (which is why he doesn't appear) eventually they settled on an OC main character, Sora, who was originally a lion-boy with a chainsaw.
Knocked out. They are out of HP, give em a min and they'll be back up.
>So what made the japanese make a FF/Disney crossover game anyways?
A Disney executive and one of Square's executive are having an elevator ride and they start talking about what if they team up. Tetsuya Nomura gets wind of this idea and starts to develop ideas. And thus Kingdom Hearts was born
...OP hasn't payed the game. I was trying to be nice.
This game is well known for being a Final Fantasy and Disney crossover, that's the main appeal of it, what rock are you living under?
Oh.
OP what did you pick and what did you give up? If you gave up the shield then you're gonna be fucked
Goddamn it, I swear his personal style has gotten worse with time.
He's actually calmed down a whole lot. Goddamn his early years were wild
There's a pic with him, HJO, David, and Hayden and he looked perfectly fine for the time. He started out fine, then looked godawful, and now he looks both tired and like he's dressing a bit too young for his age.
He just wants to be young forever and going through a mid life crisis. He's 45 now. He's actually way more tame now than what he was though. In his younger days I have no idea what he was thinking with that hairstyle. It's like he was literally trying to look like the characters he designed
yeah i've died 10 times now...
I picked the mage staff and gave up the sword...
Damn smart choice I gave up staff and picked sword, that fucked me over for a while.
p good choise, more item slots, more mp, you can farm for str ups later.
tell me how you are dying. i will walk you through it.
Are you still stuck on first boss in Traverse Town? He's not that difficult OP. Focus on his legs and arms. They don't have a lot of HP and when you destroy them, they drop HP orbs to refill your health
One attack that always gets me is when he takes off his legs and starts spinning towards me. I always get hit by that...
But just in general whenever I get hit by him he takes away a lot of damn HP. I just suck lol
OP if you are having this much trouble now, you're going to cry tears of rage later on. Better learn to get good now
learn to block, roll, and use items.
Donald is your healslut and Goofy is your vending machine for literally everything.
OH MY GOD
I had him limbless! then he spines like a madman towards me and I die!!
it wasn't meant to be a smart choice, thought I would wield a mages staff lol.
No pls. Too bad I cant change difficulties
KH1 is hard until you get the cure spell from the Tarzan level. Then its pretty easy.
if you time your attacks correctly, you can parry all of the attacks he dishes out. Learn your swings and you pretty much mastered the combat of the game.
To be honest, the first few levels are kinda hard because you don't have very many defensive abilities like block or cure. You DO have potions you can be using if you didn't know. If the feet and hands are really fucking you up attack them first, otherwise, focus on the body so you have left to kill when he goes beast mode when you DO kill the limbs. Like I said earlier you can block with your weapon, you just need to learn timing.
I can block and roll...?
So what you're saying is when he spins at me I should attack right back at him?
you get Dodge Roll after the fight, I think. And yes, you can parry almost all attacks in the game by swinging attacks at the right moment
Block is learned through leveling up, yes
You can, but not where you are. You get roll after this battle and block at lvl24.
You can try to parry but it does need good timing, USE AERIAL ATTACKS
>Larxene will never dominate you
You get Dodge Roll after the fight and then you start to get magic once you get to Wonderland. Here's a trick though. Go to Wonderland and get access to the first magic spell. Then once you got that, go to Gummi Ship and open the path to Hercules world. You'll get another magic spell very early. Then go back to Wonderland. Should make things a little easier for you OP
Playing the first right now. Gameplay wise, it's FANTASTIC. Very, very challenging.
It's the story that puts me off, but that's something I've taken to ignoring.
I'm going to beat Sephiroth on Proud mode!
>not doing worlds in one go
Ha. If you think the first one had a bad story...
Sephi is a walk in the park. Unlike that asshole Xemnas.
I disagree. Seph was hard and Xemnas I beat on my first try.
>graviga2win
>hard
Oh, it definitely has it's charm, since I always feel like crying every time I beat it, but I feel it's still technically very, very bad and not at all what it could (And should!) have been.
The sequels are when it goes full retard, though.
Well yeah he could do that but OP seems to be having a little trouble so getting him more magic to use will help him out since he picked the Staff user
guess I'm weird with my skills then
>not making the game harder for yourself on purpose
next you'll tell me he shouldn't slap on EXP Zero
Dude OP had problems with the Traverse Town boss. Him playing level 1 will make him eat his fucking controller in rage
it was a joke, lad, but I believe people get better the harder the game is.
OP what's your progress now?
OP here, already have eaten it...
Second time I got him with no limbs and his torso spin attacks always hits me
I'm going to need a break now
when you see the attack coming, keep your distance and then time your parry as he approaches. Timing is everything.
What level are you on and what abilities do you have equipped?
lv 6 & stun impact
btw I lied you get guard at 33
grind a bit till you hit a level you're comfortable with
Look OP listen to me. Take out the legs and arms first alright. Once you take them out, go for the head and torso. Once the torso spin attacks start get as far away as possible. Use potions to keep yourself alive.
Once you beat him. Donald gives you Fire magic and you also get Dodge Roll. Then you will be able to access the Gummi Ship. Go straight to the Olympus world (it's the one on the bottom). Do some of Phil's training until you get the Thunder magic. Now you will have two magic spells and Dodge Roll. Leave Olympus and then go to the Wonderland world. That should be a nice start to help you out man
Alright I'm taking your advice, you obviously know your stuff.
I at least keep the 3 potions on me during battle. But I'm going to follow your advice for sure.
Might need to start over in normal mode lol
Best of luck OP. Kingdom Hearts is my all time favorite video game series. I've beaten all the games multiple times.
...
I really like how Sora didn't give a shit about the MoM, he at least realizes it's not important.
So nice you had to post it twice?
It was only posted once in this thread. Also interestingly the person who posted it in the other KH thread is not the one who posted it in this thread.
I've only posted it once in the template thread from yesterday
Well since this is you're first time playing Kingdom Hearts then it might be best to do that. Usually Proud Mode (and Critical Mode for KH 2 FM) is for those who seek a challenge and knows the game inside and out
It's alright guys, it's not that serious.
I think I will. Giving the boss one more shot then I'm going to restart.
Really disappointed in myself. I feel like I'm shit at vidya lately. Just sucks I can only take 2 hits or so before I die from him
I'm just happy someone saved my picture
Level up a bit before you start over OP. You're at 6. Get to level 8 at least and try again.
I see you've only played the kh1 and kh2, nice
Its my favorite series too but I can't stand Days. I've only beaten it once
>All the other ones should be regarded as non canon trash.
Like the game released between 1 and II that is directly related to the stories of both?
Like the games released since II that are directly related to the series overall and form the foundation of the story in KHIII?
KH feels like it should be button mashy, but dont play it that way. treat it like souls. time your attacks, look for tells, and act accordingly. once you get block, the game changes dramatically.
