Because they make bad games

elaborate

Unappreciated in their time. Same thing happen to clover and they made some kick ass shit.

Scalebound looks focus tested

their activision games were all shit

they ruined the label

Games they have no passion about, turn out to be complete garbage

The few ones they actually care are amazing

They make shitty budget games that get too much praise because the companies name and on the merits of the game itself.

W101 and MGR:R sucked. Fuck you if you think otherwise.

They are pretentious and they think they can make good/different games, but MGR, W101 were mediocre as hell.
Bayonetta and Vanquish were the only good things came out from this trashcan of a studio.

Sup Forums just like the studio because there is Kamiya in it. Sup Forums only likes Kamiya because he's a straight forward man who speaks his mind and doesn't bow before the SJW bullshit.
That's it.

Transformers was a masterpiece
Korra was okay
Only TMNT was really shit

Because they haven't made a Sony exclusive and the creator talks a lot of shit to sony fags.

That's pretty much it.

Nier Automata is a Sony exclusive (as of now anyway) and it looks like a really excellent game

Because Sup Forums thinks they're the savior of gaming and can do no wrong

People overvaluing stories in their games, I guess. That, or the faggots obsessed with "muh experience" instead of actual mechanically focused games at which they excel. Well, maybe not Madworld or MGR.

Because they get so much praise.

They are the new licensed shovelware games dev

Because no God Hand 2.

there a 7//10 studio

make great gameplay but shit games. But out of all else atleast they can be brave and make new different IPs.

Because they're popular here.

they made THIS youtube.com/watch?v=0Mi1siF5WgQ

>their tiny, cheap games are bad
No shit. Wonderful 101 and Bayo 2 were of their best games, though, so they obviously still have it.

Stop shilling your own videos.

>W101 sucked
Taste that's utterly shit or bait? Can't tell

Korra was alright though

In light of TMNT it will be remembered more fondly

>Vanquish

It's imperfect and 2easy but it was one of those games that actually felt pretty "next gen" (dead rising was one of those) and felt like something that was finally beyond Gears of War, and still demolishes Uncharted 4 as far as combat goes. For knocking out that game, and you might as well throw them more cred for the look/feel/world of Bayonetta, they've earned some distinction.

I'm just kind of sitting around waiting for them to do something absolutely amazing. Maybe that's why MGR felt especially disappointing for me. They also need to make their higher difficulties available right off the bat.

> focus-tested
> from the guy who told a bunch of schoolkids to fuck off

Yeah right. Anybody have that THANKS KAMIYA W101 image? Some of these Kagoo-Regahs are really kicking my ass.

>and still demolishes Uncharted 4 as far as combat goes
Who the fuck even mentioned fucking Uncharted 4?
Fuck off you idiot.

Bayo 2 was a mediocre game at best

Now Bayo 1, THAT was a good game.

Actually, Platinum has only made 3 really excellent games: Bayo 1, W101 and Transformers

Star fox 0..................................................

>make great gameplay but shit games.

Behold, a game critic emerges from his cocoon

...

>Bayo 2 was a mediocre game at best
Because it was on Wii U?
I think it's frankly better than the first game. The first did some things better, but Bayo 2 was just a more polished version, smoother combat, more weapon variety, more interesting environments and enemies etc.

What games did they make again? I do remember thinking they were bad.

It's not exclusive. The producer was asked and he blatanly said no, but he can't talk about that.

They probably have a marketing deal with Sony.

Thanks, it's funny how that isn't even the worst Kagoo-Regah in the game.

post the gay porn with the kamiya lookalike

No, because the combat was shallow and unbalanced.

This isn't a sour grapes situation (and I HAD a Wii U anyway), this is an opinion shared by every single high level Bayo player.

It's a broken, shallow mess of a game.

What's your problem? They're in the same genre, and my example is not a bad way of showing how ahead of its time a game from 2010 still is (since UC4 is pretty impressive in this department too).

What don't you like about Bayo 2?

It was literally just Bayo 1 but better.

Sup Forums is the epitome of bandwagon culture, especially since TORtanic.

Platinum's C team released some shit games under Activision to keep them afloat. For some reason that means they're doomed and it somehow means MGR, W101 and Bayo 2 weren't masterpieces.

Hell, look at how Nintendo is talked about right now. All these falseflags and sudden 3D World shitposting threads because 2016 is a barren year. But if the NX launch is a success, we'll see endless sonygger falseflags. Or even just look at how AVGN is suddenly not a cuck because he said he didn't want to watch Ghostbusters. Sup Forums can't form an actual opinion, this place has selective memory so it can keep shitposting.

tl;dr, Sup Forums is shit

Platinum games are so good I bought a piece of shit Wii U for them (and Dong Freeze)

>this is an opinion shared by
[citation needed]

I'll forego the commentary and just post this, because it's 4 of the best Bayo 1 players basically ragging on everything wrong with Bayo 2 for 2 hours and they cover more or less everything worth covering

m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sicw6_j2cIE

>that's why MGR felt especially disappointing for me
This. I know it's retarded to compare it to DMC4 or Bayo but MGR just doesn't have a soul on it own. It feels kinda like the game was made for the sake of it.

Because of how much dick-sucking they get from the fans of whatever anime or cartoon is popular and how it would a wet dream for them to make a game based on. It has gotten really cancerous.

I had a PS4
Bloodborne is shit

Well, before that we had this
youtube.com/watch?v=nN4tCuddb2U

I think Platinum games really capture that "dream" game feel a lot of the time, feeling of total control over the character. Haven't played every game, but the ones I have (MGR, Bayonetta, Vanquish and Korra) while all varying in degrees of quality, at least make you feel part of the action through really solid controls with some minor depth while keeping a steady challenge.
>length
I disagree on the games being "too short". I accept that at full price a 5-8 hour game might seem a bit steep, but maybe it's because I haven't bought any Platinum game at launch, I really have enjoyed the length of all the games I've played, I think you guys get to caught up on game time when most are clearly meant to be replayed.

I don't think it's just that Nintendo has had a dry year. I think their last few years have been dry in general, with only a handful of good releases. And the majority of their games are just mediocre rehashes that miss the point of the previous games.
I always use Luigi's Mansion 2 as an example. It's not awful, but it's not that interesting, and it didn't really manage to duplicate the appeal of the first game. That's most Nintendo games nowadays. Not awful, but far from interesting.

I don't think people hate Nintendo, though they've done some dumb shit lately. I think people are mainly just bored of them because their games keep getting more mediocre, with a few occasional exceptions. If Nintendo started to do more interesting stuff then I'd start liking them again, but as is all I can expect is tasteless rehash games that aren't even bad enough to be offensive.

And this one isn't as focused on that subject but it has two MORE of the best action game players ALSO ragging on Bayo 2

m.youtube.com/watch?v=rQXzVoCPCRs

Honestly both are interesting, the latter moreso

>It feels kinda like the game was made for the sake of it.

It was made because Kojima's own team couldn't make the original Rising.

Bloodborne is one of my favourite games.

>but as is all I can expect is tasteless rehash games that aren't even bad enough to be offensive.

They don't just make sequels though. Splatoon and Codename Steam came out last year. And one of them clearly was a hit.

because people fell for the "platinum can do every single game" meme

scalebound is pretty much the only interesting looking thing they are making, and even that will eventually be ruined by ms's toxic influence

But Scalebound looks meh

Nier looks good though

But it literally was. Kojima productions was supposed to make it but they couldnt fulfill their vision so they passed the project to platinum. Platinum was literally a plan B.

Seeing the promo footage, I just imagined the best: a beast of an action game that had integrated ranged and melee fighting, big destructible arenas, all carried by a powerful and flexible game engine with plenty of stealth thrown in. Like, the better wide-open areas of MGS4, but with amazing ninja cyborg skills.

Instead it's a Bayonetta flavoured game that lacks subtlety, and has the same annoyingly flabby starting difficulty. I am not the one to ask about the finer points of action games like bayonetta or DMC, but still.

Still lots of anger over Bayo 2 being on WiiU.

I know it. But at least they could have put more effort into it and make it feels more unique.

They only had a year to do it I believe,

>a few occasional exceptions
And one of those bombed hard.
Take Federation Force. It's a new idea, but executed so badly that it'll turn people off the idea forever.
I just feel like Nintendo has gotten clumsy and oafish. When they actually have new ideas half the time they seem to fuck them up. They still have a few good studios under their belt (Retro, for example) but Nintendo, as an entity, has just become this big, confused elephant that doesn't seem to know what to do. They haven't had an easy couple of years, but they really should just calm down and have a good hard think about what the fans want, what will sell, and what their near future should be. It seems like they're spending all their time trying to damage control and trying too hard to come up with new ideas. Why the fuck do they need a third platform? Why do they think that will actually work out?

No, but Saito (who did MGR) DID finally nail the "integrated ranged and melee" bit with Transformers and it's nice to see Nier, Scalebound, and even TMNT are running with that merger to make a new flavor of action game with TPS elements.

>and make it feels more unique.
In what ways?

Anyone who loves Platinum will be the first to say TW101 is one of their best works, and that game is a WiiU exclusive

So the idea that Bayo 2 catches shit just for being WiiU exclusive is bullshit on its face.

It's just not a great game.

I like MGR, a lot, I think the concept fits well in the 5-6 hours it lasts, anything longer and it would've probably turned ver boring and bland, specially under hands of Kojima.

>Why the fuck do they need a third platform? Why do they think that will actually work out?

Because the Wii U has not performed well. So they are making the effort to ensure NX starts out strong and well at the moment. It will be 5 years, which is standard for them usually to have a new system.

>It's just not a great game.
This is incorrect.

If NX is what I think it is then it's not a replacement for Wii U. It's some retarded, 'innovate' piece of crap that will be crammed with gimmick shit.

Why can't Nintendo just make a proper console?

Not that user, but I don't really see how Nintendo's output has been any less repetitive or bland than Microsoft or Sony. The umpteenth Mario game doesn't offend my sensibilities any more than the umpteenth Halo or Uncharted (big reason why I don't own any next gen consoles). There games are just not as in tune with the hyper masculine/cinematic statues quo of modern AAA gaming.

I have always seen W101 and MGR as meh games.
But you have a point. Sup Forums keeps switching bandwagons. But honestly, it is normal because Sup Forums is not one person.
Also, the Platinumfags have been less vocal after a few shitty releases. So you might actually think that Sup Forums switched to hate Platinum but actually it's not. They will be back if Platinum makes a good game, it's guaranteed.

Not that guy, but it does, I was angry that it was exclusive, yet happy to know it found new life. I just hate having to eventually buy the console just for 1 (well 2 since it has the best Bayo 1 version) game.

But nobody knows what NX is currently at the moment.

Umpteenth Mario isn't the issue. 3D World was very good.
Rehash and sequel are very different words, and unfortunately Nintendo has leaned toward the former lately. They've been alienating people left and right with shit like the new FE games, the new Metroid, the new Star Fox.

>They've been alienating people left and right with shit like the new FE games

Fates sold extremely well didn't it?

Meme developer. People let their shit slide because Kamiya is amusing on Twitter and Revengeance had good music.

I'll keep letting Yosh tell it until it sinks in

twitlonger.com/show/n_1siersp

Bayo 2 is a poorly-balanced shallow clusterfuck

We all know what it is. Some gimmick, an attempt to seem innovative and bring something new and groundbreaking into the market.
It won't work. It'll be forgotten by normies and hated by hardcore fans.

Yes, but is reviled by the old fanbase.
This is the problem. Sales aren't the same as quality, and Nintendo have been favouring sales by targeting their games toward the casual market while completely ignoring their core fanbase.

They have too many drones defending everything they do.
I like some of their games and I aknowledge that they are very competent developers, but their games are nowhere near "the best game ever!1!!" status, that their fans claim with so much passion.

And I can understand that they aren't rich, but their reuse of assets is pretty shameless as well.

But it's not.

Because they have the potential to make fantastic games but they're all three hours too short/licensed fucking TRASH games. I don't want to give you fifty dollars for fifteen hours of gameplay when I'm playing the same fucking game four times over.

>Rehash and sequel are very different words
Semantics; I don't see Uncharted 4 as any less of a rehash than 3D World. It only proves what I was talking about in that last sentence: people are placing more importance on story ("sequel" is ok because it furthers the tale of Nathan Drake) than gameplay (Mario is just another instance of adding a "gimmick"). "Cool" things are just more popular nowadays, which is why their family friendly rehashes aren't selling as much as the "adult" rehashes.

>Not a single good game in their library
>Best game was downgraded harder than TW3
>Will do anything for a paycheck

Vanquish was alright tho.

I don't get why people are so hard on the Activision Platinum games. They were clearly not meant to compete with their main titles they make. They were all sold as budget priced, and made accordingly. Their at the very least decent and competent

Platinum has never made a 15 hour long game.

Maybe for a casual playthrough, but even then only because it lacks the awful QTEs, the narrative and cutscene nonsense isn't even as entertaining.

And the combat.. Hoo boy. Anyone who plays action games seriously would not, and to my knowledge HAS not, suggested that Bayo 2 is better than 1, or is even all that good.

Platinum games being too short is always a sign of someone missing the point. Their games aren't perfect, but length isn't a reason why.

Where's Vanquish? I mean, the team that made it isn't at Platinum anymore, but it's still a good game.

There's TW101, which is probably their longest game. Hell, it's their only game that beats longer than 10 hours.

It's funny because as far as budget licensed games, they're some of the best in the field. They accomplish bringing the IP to life in a competent action game. Where in the past, Korra would've gotten some nobody developer create cheap shovelware and call it a day. Not to mention the Turtles have almost nothing but shitty games (or mediocre at best) under the belt (not talking arcade games).

Platinum makes arcade games. You play them many times, so the three hour length becomes 50 hours. For really obsessives even 100.

Bayo 1 has some pretty shitty framedrops in the Wii U version. The 360 version is still better.

The console still has some very solid tittles that will give you plenty of hours of playtime though. Just wait for a sale.

Because they get so much love.

Is this a joke? Platinum could shit on a plate and Sup Forums would fellate it to oblivion

>I think their last few years have been dry in general, with only a handful of good releases
This has literally been the case since the N64.

I wonder if that'll change with the NX though given the console and portable teams merged last year, fueling those rumors about NX being both console and portable with downscale games.

>people trying to push the idea that Bayo 2 isn't good to make themselves feel better about it not being on their platform of choice
Bayo 1 was better though

360 has framedrops AND screentearing, the latter of which is gone in the WiiU version.

I think Gen 6 was their most interesting, personally, because they tried many new things with mostly success.
Wii U was looking almost like a return to form for a short while, but then it turned out those really good games were the only really good games.

PS3 had loading screens for the pause menu.

>Vanquish
>2easy

Am I not getting something here? Maybe I just suck balls at the game but I never even managed to beat it on the hardest difficulty. I think the list of people who had completed it worldwide at the highest difficulty to be under 10 around the time I got the game.

Only a madman would play the PS3 version.

Also 30fps cap.

We can all agree the PS3 version is horrible. And yet you can actually get $10 for it at Gamestop. what.

I've only ever played the PS3 version and thought it was pretty good, not majestic, but good.

As someone mentioned in the earlier thread, God Hard is a bit of a gimmick difficulty. The game's scoring system and mechanics were designed around Hard (maybe Normal if you're bad); God Hard is akin to Frame Skip mode in Sin and Punishment.

Still, he probably played it on Normal and didn't take score into account, camping behind cover and whatnot. It's a very satisfying challenge playing it like the arcade game it was developed to be.
