>beat DOOM >fuck that was great, I wish there was more >played some of Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 64 but don't remember every beating them >feel like trying out Final Doom on a whim >TNT here we go >I ain't no pussy Ultra Violence here we go >my anus is bleeding
Heavy Weapon Guys are bullshit. I've been stuck on e1m3 for like an hour now.
>TNT As someone who just recently replayed it, It's not worth it. its generally seen as the worst doom, and with very good reason. The first 10 levels are the only levels worth playing if at all, the rest is just horribly designed bullshit that will just piss you off. if you really want to tear your asshole apart with some really good .wads, I heavily recommend you try out Alien vendetta, and hell revealed 2 if you haven't already. The later levels are complete bullshit but it's a slaughterfest of the best kind
Easton Turner
Because YouTube doesn't care about what's on their platform unless a wealthy corporate entity copyright claims something for shits and giggles.
Brandon Hall
final doom is supposed to be harder and there are far harder megawads anyway
Elijah Thomas
Sometimes I wonder if I played the DOOM series in the wrong order.
>Play DOOM 1 shareware in childhood on Windows 95. >Much later in life, play doom on Xbox Live Arcade. >Play the fucking SHIT out of that game. Every fucking day. For months. And have it be my occasional go-to game for years. >Fast forward 7 years, play DOOM II on DOSbox. >Quit after a few hours of play, even though I enjoyed it. >Two years later, play and beat DOOM 3 and its expansion. >Play DOOM 4 beta for half an hour and get bored. >Still haven't played DOOM II like I should have.
Landon Barnes
Should I just skip to Plutonia?
Yeah this is TOO hard. I mean, I remember Revenants being hard but fighting them at point blank range is nearly impossible here. There's nothing to hide behind to throw the rockets off and they home like a fucking bitch.
James Reed
Yes, skip tnt. Plutonia is pretty good but the layout can be pretty confusing at times if you aren't into the habit of using the automap
Wyatt Taylor
plutonia is harder than TNT just stick with it
Jordan Clark
>Still haven't played DOOM II like I should have You should go do that then
Cameron Roberts
>I remember Revenants being hard but fighting them at point blank range is nearly impossible here
youtube.com/watch?v=HJcf0aOwmiA This is a good start. You don't really need a lot of cover to fight Revenants in general, you need room for sure though.
TNT is kind of lame. Plutonia is a lot harder.
Jaxon Butler
TNT is just "i place minigunner", play plutonia instead, it is better designed even though there is still lots of minigunners
Logan Martin
Plutonia is fucking garbage.
Nathan Sullivan
Bruv, most of your Doom experience was with a controller on an unmoddable platform, you have been missing out bigtime. Yes, you should play Doom2, but you should also play Doom 1. The real Doom 1. And a whole wide world of third party maps await, too. Go 2 it.
neither are worth playing. Final Doom is bad. There's a million wads out there that are much better.
Lincoln Morgan
THERES A FUCKING ARCHVILE IN THE FIRST LEVEL
IS THIS CORRECT DID I GET THE WRONG .WAD OR SOMETHING THIS IS PLUTONIA'S E1M1???
Asher Roberts
Plutonia is made to be hard.
If you did Doom 1 you should have done E4, which is like the Lost Levels of Doom. You can think of Plutonia as the same deal.
Liam Gutierrez
AND THEN I WALK RIGHT AND THERE'S FOUR REVENANTS OH FUCK I DIDNT EVEN SCREENSHOT THAT SHIT
Samuel Reed
see"plutonia is good" Sup Forums's doom fanbase equivalent to Deus Ex's "put all points into swimming"
Blake Powell
I jumped for the teleporter and I "made" it but I don't think Plutonia is right for me. What are some good .wads and not, y'know, fucking bullshit hard with no sense of scaling?
Luis Morales
It's not though user. That would be trying to get someone to play a Terry wad.
Plutonia is just kind of eh with level design and is only worth playing if you like challenge.
Play Scythe. It's a great level set.
Parker Foster
Forgot image.
Joshua Bennett
Doom 1, episodes 1-3
That's about it. Episode 4 is awful. doom 2 is awful. Final doom is awful.
Adrian Allen
Plutonia is more popular among Doomworld than Sup Forums.
That said, I really think its nowhere near as hard as people make it out to be.
Luke Reed
>Jumped user no
That breaks level sets.
Ryder Parker
How am I supposed to kill them.
Colton Miller
use chaingun
Tyler Diaz
You can chaingun tap(Two shots with 100% accuracy) You can come back later when you get a rocket launcher You can wait until you are closer. You have options
Isaac Sanders
I've played some modded DOOM 1 and WADs before, just haven't done it very much.
Cameron Jenkins
Play Scythe. It's a megawad with an emphasis on small but very active and challenging levels. If you like it, check out Scythe 2.
Eli Edwards
What are some good wads that change the gameplay around, have only done Demonsteele and Trailblazer. No Brutal Doom pls
Nathan Wood
Play Memento Mori
Ian Miller
GMOTA Project MSX
Andrew Bell
None of them are good, IMO. They almost never take map balance into account. So they usually end up just being a power fantasy that gets boring after an hour.
Jaxon Howard
Mommy pls
So yeah, think I'll try out Scythe now because I'm tired of being sodomized by Revenants with no fucking place to dodge them from.
Grayson Richardson
I thought I was the only one who felt this way about them. Stuff like Demonsteele and Metroid: Dreadnought are neat but get old after a few minutes.
Adrian Wilson
>Demonsteele Pick a higher difficulty than UV. It's the only way. 2 HP is basically the baseline.
>Metroid You can set up limits to not get a lot of HP and due to lack of armor you can have a good time with harder level sets.
>Trailblazer Literally made for slaughtermaps only and trivializes them. Not as bad as how Guncaster does it though. I like the effort put into making everything, but with how overpowered everything is it's hard to really get invested in anything like that.
Weapons of Saturn is pretty cool. SUAB is different but pretty cool.
Joseph Rivera
Just a simple changes of animations makes the whole thing feel different. Project MSX is fun, and you can find recommended/new wads for it on its page
Or play something like Winter's Fury.
John Johnson
I put Scythe in the directory and the text file in the license folder but it doesn't show up on the list when I start zdoom. What am I missing/doing wrong/ignorant of?
Jace Hall
click and drag it onto the zdoom exe. I'm not completely sure about all things doom modding, but that should work for that. It might ask you to open a different wad, just pick Doom 2 and it should still boot Scythe.
Tyler Garcia
Wait yeah I got it. Is it supposed to look all red?
Christopher Collins
Fuck TNT.
Ian Howard
if you mean the main menu, yes.
Jacob Campbell
Reelism, DoomRL Arsenal + Oblige megawad.
David Kelly
Demonsteele is really something that wants its own custom-designed wads. Leaping around all over the place is fun as fuck, but its rare to find levels that really facilitate doing that to its maximum potential.
Henry Long
you get a rocket launcher in the first map. Just use it there
Easton Torres
>revenants if possible, get into melee range, make 'em whiff punches (kind of tricky, since if you fuck up, a: they punch just as hard as a missile and b: if you go slightly outside of melee range, they'll hit you with a missile at minimum range)
in short, watch the video linked
Revenant missiles are scary. There's nothing quite as dumb as running down several 90 degree turns, finally thinking you're safe, and then suddenly getting hit for 60% damage because it was still following you. happened when testing a wad I was making
Daniel Cox
>339336747 >beat DOOM >fuck that was great, I wish there was more
NO MORE FOR YOU
FUCK YOU
WE REMOVED ANY AND ALL MOD SUPPORT
LOL SNAPMAP
DLC SOON
FUCK YOU MODDERS
Gabriel Jackson
I know this is one of the maps from Going Down but what sprite/graphics mod are you using?
Juan Ward
Beautiful Doom.
I wanted something with a bit more zip and it works pretty well. Doesn't change anything mechanically, just looks better.
Asher Gray
I started playing Thy Flesh Consumed earlier, that second level was pretty tough. But over all it's kinda just felt like Doom 2 without all the enemies
Daniel Thompson
>he did not build scuba diver character to get the secret atlantis ending user, how can you be so bad at video games?
Nicholas Green
I'm always amazed at how shitty 4chans doom players are. Tnt is fucking easy. Plutonia is harder but even that's not anywhere near the kinds of megawads the fans have made now.
Jason Taylor
From the command-line: doom2 -file scythe.wad Substitute 'doom2' with whatever engine you use. (Though you should have been playing vanilla, m8.)
Alexander Reed
You think this fag is gonna be able to play av or hr2 if he can't even fucking play tnt?
Jonathan Foster
Personally I prefer Smooth Doom.
Jaxon Gomez
What are some good Hexen/Heretic .wads?
Austin Torres
user, there are really great user maps out there build with SnapMapā¢ just take a short look at this gem:
M8, I don't know about you but I wasn't born a Doom god. When Final Doom first came out I found it hard. OP is just discovering Doom, it'd be bloody amazing if he could just waltz through Plutonia on skill 4.
Christopher White
motherfucking contra doom in nightmare difficulty enable chasecam for better chances of survival
Josiah Jenkins
Multiplayer DLC no less, for a multi that's probably dead by now.
I really don't get that shit, the tomb raider reboot had the same shit, people begging for single player DLC maps and NOPE YOU MULTIPLAYER DLC which died in like 2 weeks.
Jason Green
It does change things.
The Chaingun and super shotgun having single fire. Unless it was updated and removed these changes? I use Smooth Doom personally for those animated N64 shotguns.
Landon Martin
Every time
Liam Rogers
I'd argue that while doom 2 added great new monsters and the SSG, the maps dont hold up to Doom
Asher Bell
Hey guys, I've been meaning to play Doom II. I beat the original a couple years ago. Which source port should I use? I've been thinking ZDoom or Chocolate Doom.
Ethan Lopez
I like brutal doom.
Jackson Thomas
GMOTA feels somewhat balanced, that's why it's my favourite of the bunch.
Henry Sullivan
I played through both plutonia and tnt keyboard only on uv when I was about 15. They were fine. You don't have to be a doom God not to find them hard, you just have to be a non retard
Michael Garcia
Good. You're retarded
Owen Wilson
Chocolate Doom for the closest to vanilla experience.
Brayden Sanders
>I use Smooth Doom personally for those animated N64 shotguns. My Smooth Doom keeps fucking up when I use the N64 weapons. I forgot the error it says but it doesn't work in ZDoom.
Angel Lewis
Just play the new Doom. I hear its really good.
Ryan Nelson
Try with GZDoom and remember to have the latest SVN versions of your source ports.
It's pretty good. So far Doom 2 w/ brutal doom has been my favorite of the total remakes.
Aaron Robinson
Best game.
Kayden Watson
I don't think you get it, what I'm saying. My reaction time is bad, sup par by far, almost a quarter of a second slower than the average. Which in turn makes it harder to hit things especially if they're moving fast or if I'm moving fast. On console I've got the auto aim and everything slow so because I try hard I can generally stomp console plebs.
On PC people try just as hard as me, many try a lot harder, and have much better reaction times as well. So I can't compete. Even on console if it's something like Street Fighter or Smash, I can't compete.
Even in singleplayer stuff fast movement throws me off, because again, my reaction time is beyond awful. In turn, I'm awful at anything fast paced, very much including Doom.
Jayden Carter
>no sense of scaling what are you talking about? it only gets harder from there. plutonia is the only mapset that even makes use of the new super shotgun and enemies introduced in 2.
Brayden Scott
this is great
Levi Harris
no effective means to dodge homing missiles chaingunners are worse than karl marx
Owen Kelly
Thank you for posting those links, user. Everyone should seriously try Descent if they haven't already. There's even still a relatively active multiplayer scene.
Jace Martinez
Wasn't there some redux of descent released recently? Or maybe it was some stupid steam beta thing?
