Graphics peaked in 2007

>graphics peaked in 2007

Why are """""good""""" graphics still a thing?

...

Star Wars Battlefront has taken the graphics crown from Crysis.

...

It's a worse game with less actual advanced graphics. Crysis was always shitposted as a tech demo but BF is -literally- just that.

It looks nicer in screenshots but it's not very impressive. That's why it runs above 30fps on consoles.

...

Almost makes me want to play it. Then I remember how mind-numbingly simple it is.

Improvements were made with char models

...

...

Oh man I will always be impressed of how ahead of their time they were

A lot of screenshots don't do the games justice since they leave out a lot of tech

JUST

...

In screenshots it might be impressive, but the LOD distance is shit and if you get real close to the elements and characters you will see that they are not that good.

...

Oh wow, lel epic slow mo explosion. You sure showed them!

The only thing thats better are the models and textures of environment, and the only reason for that is that they actually went to places the movies took place and scanned the environment.
You could do the same with Crysis, its not actually better graphics. Thats like saying Euclideon tech demos have better graphics than everything.

How can PC even compete?

>"""""
Hey reddit when will you stop thinking this crap is funny or whatever?

Every single snow flake in the game is physically rendered, meaning if you throw a grenade the displaced air will move it. This goes for a lot of other particles and models in the game too.

Dice games have good destruction and stuff but Crysis is still overall better.

>screencap from the TV show

Didn't know you could install sweetfx presets on PS4

>Every single snow flake in the game is physically rendered

You are literally retarded

not him, but technically thats true

Almost any TV can do anything sweetfx does, besides SMAA

A ton of games have taken the Crysis crown. Sup Forums is just very autistic when it comes to graphics.

I'm speaking in laymans terms if that's what's triggering you.

Nice argument though!

That explosion is almost as bad as the one in the Might No. 9 trailer.

Man that "crysis is just a tech demo" shit used to rustle my jimmies.

THIS IS NOT A REAL LIFE PHOTO

I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A REAL LIFE PHOTO

Is playing battlefront worth it? I don't mind shallow multiplayer gameplay. I have over 120 hours in MW2 on PC.

No they didn't. There were few games that looked better at a first glance, but none have come close to the level of technology Crysis had, not even its own sequels.

Red faction Guerilla did it better and was on PS3/X360

If they didn't spend all the money and time hyping up the graphics, how would they sell a new engine, a new box, a new graphics card, and most importantly, the same games you've already played with a fresh coat of paint.

Wait, did they actually put a giant particle emitter above the map?

MW2 has far more depth than Battlefront

...

Pay attention to the explosion displaying millions of volumetric particles(smoke, sparks, dust).

Not many games do that, no games do it to the extent of Cry Engine.

That game was cool.

Only """technology"""" im seeing is you posting a couple modded physics effects

>crysis
>volumetric particles
lol

>modern consoles are easily able to do this as Crysis ran on machines 20x weaker
>no game uses it

Epic game developers. Epic

>Using a screencap from twitch

Nice try PCkek

I think the cpu has a lot to do with the physics side though

Well we know the neo is using the same shitty cpu but the scorpio might have a zen which would mean it can most definitely handle it and then some

Devs are just shitty in general though.

Battlefront will show you the true meaning of shallow.
If you're hardcore SW fan and really don't care about gameplay, go ahead.

>using the material from 2,5 years ago

?

There are actually people here who think Crysis can hold a candle to 2016 graphics

>modern consoles are easily able to do this as Crysis ran on machines 20x weaker
At below 720p if you wanted 30fps. 1080p wasn't remotely close to a norm in 2007.

That's using mods galore and the game is beyond maxed out. The PS4 would shit itself trying to play it.

>Crysis the pinnacle of PC technology can't even render a mirror
>while a console game can

I'm not posting the webms you retard. Nice """""" meme though, exquisite.

Nah PS4 or Xone could easily handle a game like Crysis (1) at max details with all of those physics mods.

As much as people dont want to admit it Crysis isnt even the game to test your new PC anymore. Its just an old game with some impressive stuff but really nothing special now. Like Half life 2 was 4 years ago.

>That's why it runs above 30fps on consoles
So does Crysis you fucking idiot...

Oh wow, a mirror in a tiny room, so impressive.

Battlefront rapes it and it runs at 900p/60fps on the Bone

And yet Crysis has a bathroom, a tiny room, and the mirror doesn't work. How come?

Ouch. Now that's a statement.

Heavy Rain looks pretty good.

Because it's a transitional period. Believe it or not, we reached the peak of what we could do with traditional graphics techniques a few years ago. Now it's all about physically based rendering, which requires a major shift in how games are designed on a technical and artistic level. Proper PBR allows everything to look massively better, from the lights to the materials, regardless of whether the game's art style is realistic or not.
But even this can't save a game from poor art direction or performance constraints. And when it comes down to it, the best looking games in any generation are borne on smoke and mirrors. and flashy graphical effects. Graphics can't be quantified any more because the tools are there for any random person to implement PBR techniques into their game. Just look at this Doom 3. This is the lowest you can get and it still looks eye pleasing.

Crysis is butt ugly I can't believe people still think it looks good.

TECH

Brb buying a PS4. Gotta support mirrors in modern games.

The PS4's max potential is to play PS3 games that ran at 720p 30fps(with drops naturally) at 1080p 60fps(most games are 1080p 30fps though, MGSV was one of the rare exceptions).

Crysis 1 on consoles was a downgraded piece of shit that ran on average at 20fps.

Crysis 1 with mods runs significantly worse than the vanilla game maxed out and the console version of it was a hilarious joke running on a downgraded engine.

Don't kid yourself, follow the logic and evidence and figure out how you are wrong.

>The PS4's max potential is to play PS3 games that ran at 720p 30fps

Battlefront or Uncharted 4 would burn the PS3 in 3 seconds

Other movie games ran just fine on the PS3.

always thought it was funny how the sequels were so much less impressive

But this looks like shit

i really love how crysis has a really nice 3rd person view

Battlefront isn't much more impressive than the Battlefield or Crysis games which ran on last gen and Uncharted 4 runs at 30fps, thus it has nothing to do with what I said.

It's comparable to Tomb Raider 2013 and other movie games though which are last-gen games.

Maybe Crysis 3 is less impressive than 1 when it was released but its a fact that it looks way better and you dont need 100 mods to make it look "modern".

looks better than uncharted 4 ;)

Its because they were made with consoles in mind.

>That hair on the black bitch
Looks pretty good

And it's a fact that Crysis doesn't even have ten graphics mods and the majority of them don't do anything.

kek

And without those mods it looks like dogshit.

With too but thats another story

Because it still renders areas outside, Uncharted 4 never renders more than small environment, which is why it can run on such limited hardware.

This is Crysis without mods.

>Uncharted 4 never renders more than small environment

Safari Chapter is as big as a Crysis level.

Which really dosnt mean much because Crysis levels were small as shit contrary to some beliefs.

>those textures on the right
>the awful snow effect
The nanosuit looks good tho.

Also use less Dof you shitter

tell me more

>The lack of grass on the rigth
>that shitty lightning
>those fucking rocks

Are there any good torrents for Crysis? I haven't played it in a really long time and want to see how well it would run on my modern-day toaster.

Why is there jelly instead of water

>posts a screenshot which shows BioShock Infinite tier graphics

You should post that .webm with the falling stones, people fall for that shit.

you're pretty good at this

Battlefront is a prime example of EA saying "full steam to the graphical, sound design and marketing budgets so our game looks good and is everywhere, fuck everything else, they'll buy it first because it looks shiny and regret it too late to bother refunding"

If it were a movie it would have been nice, but as a game, it's horribly underwhelming

t. played it at a casual friend's house

>Tiling water
>Fuck all LOD
>Brown and bloom

> "full steam to the graphical, sound design and marketing budgets so our game looks good and is everywhere, fuck everything else, they'll buy it first because it looks shiny and regret it too late to bother refunding"
This is how you sell 10 million copies.

Are they reusing that engine for a real game or what?

this looks objectively bad in 2016

This looks good.

this looks terrible

fucking Just Cause 3 looks better than Crysis did

Let it go. The game was amazing for a very long time, but it just doesn't hold up anymore, not without mods.

you're slipping.

Then why did Crysis 1 sell 1 milion copies in almost 10 years?

Crysis 1 sold over 5 million many years ago.

>That awful vegetation
>That yellow piss filter whatever it is that dosn't let me see anything

Unsuprisingly that area doesn't hold up as well graphically.

The headbobbing and the fact that I remember people being impressed by this years ago makes this hilarious

Thanks for the headache

...

1. open kickass/piratebay
2. type Crysis into search bar
3. sort by seeds
4. click on magnet icon next to the first result

It aint me
It aint meee
