I played AOE2 and loved it

Is AOE3 worth playing?

Its a good game but too different from AoE2, it will kind of shock you at first

rise of nations would be a better choice

its a different game but i think its just as good if not better.

It's a bit wierd.
Instead of producing 1 unit, you produce 'packs' of them.

There's some sort of 'card' system giving you benefits (perks?) maybe.

It seems like they tried to mix Age of Mythology and Age of Empires in the wrong way.

3 > 2 in my humble opinion

Don't know. Empire Earth was sweet, though.

>People defending 3
Is this fucking opposite day?

What makes it so different? All I really want that was in AOE2 is castle and ship building

Not OP but is the Microsoft RTS Collection worth it? Only played AoE II back in the day

it's a good game
it's just not a true sequel; it diverges massively from previous games.

it's good and more fast paced, the only thing that bothers me is that the UI is way too big

when will the base building RTS game come back into fashion

play supcom

>tfw love RTS but really shit at it
I can handle AI but I get rolled by humans

me too, all I know how to do is turtle

>Battle for Middle Earth 3
A man can hope

keep practicing/look at guides or videos or streams

1v1 right now

hey man at least you're shit
>too good to play with shitters
>not good enough to play with pros
the worst limbo.

No one is defending it, but no one is blindly bashing it like you seem to expect either.

Fucking Blizzard
>Hey you won a few games against noobs
>Lets now only match you with Koreans to get your w/l ratio back down to 50%

No.

no, far worse game

I'm just interested in AOE2 HD, I want know if it's worth it vs torrenting the original

No, just keep playing 2 or play age of mythology

At least you can handle AI

pro:
-there's cannons you gets to use and kill bunch of enemies
-turkey is a playable race in this game so Sup Forumsack might enjoy slaughtering them
-germany is playable
-it had more units with guns so you gets to hear beautiful gun shot every seconds
-chinese units act like they should: cheap and expendable
-it has more unique unit for each civilization than 1 and 2
-ships are now bigger and naval fight like they should be in real life
-poo in loo gets to have elephant with cannon.
CANNON. MOUNT. ON. ELEPHANT.

cons:
-It is not age of empire 2
-units changes animation when attacking building, making them slower
-campaign is not based on real life so you get made up bullshit story about da bad guy call "the circle", illuminates wannabe that seeks immortality water and you had to control each of the morgan black's bloodline member in missions like in jojo's bizarre adventure to stop the goyim's plan
-turkroach gets to have gigantic cannon that is so expensive you will probably never use it again in multiplayer

>-turkroach gets to have gigantic cannon that is so expensive you will probably never use it again in multiplayer
Just use a card to shit out a two of them

only to get flanked by calvary and snipe by Culverin cannon

>play as russians
>have strelet in every enemy base 2 minutes after hitting age 2 (earlier than everyone else)
>have cossacks from a home shipment soon after killing their villagers

alternatively
>play the English
>Eco hardest of anyone
>hit age 2 a little late and switch gear fast
>Musketmen and Longbowman everywhere

I greatly enjoyed this game.

This is all I dream for any more

There was an option to make the ui smaller

>you produce 'packs' of them.
That's only the Chinese barracks. The card system is really cool, and you can get "free" shipments of packs of units.

>Play heart of the swarm
>Decide to actually do ranked for once
>Play against one guy
>Get steamrolled because I'm bad
>Every other placement game was people going afk to beat up shitters in bronze
>End up getting thrown in plat when I'm basically bronze
>never get demoted after like 7 losses in a row
>quit game

Ruined the game for me. Just watched pro games and day 9 when I wanted some starcraft stuff

Blizz just can't handle w/l balance

Any civ can produce most units 5 at a time though

>-campaign is not based on real life so you get made up bullshit story about da bad guy call "the circle", illuminates wannabe that seeks immortality water and you had to control each of the morgan black's bloodline member in missions like in jojo's bizarre adventure to stop the goyim's plan
this is the only con
and the card system, but that's only a matter of taste/preference if you like it or not

COMMANDEMENT?
I WOLL
E WISS

no

fuck
got me as bad as prostagma

AOE3 isn't a 'bad' game in its own right, but it can't hold a candle to AEO2. Or AOE1 for that matter. It doesn't feel like a sequel, and in my opinion has very little of the magic and balance that made the first two games special.

So no, I'd say that AOE3 is not worth it. You'd be better off going through the rest of what AOE2 has to offer.

I disagree
as someone who started with AOM I found AOE3 more fun than AOE1 or AOE2
it's really more a matter of what you value and what your nostalgia goggles see

Fair enough, each to their own. I found that AOE3 was much less of a building game, and that there was often a much bigger power-gap in the battles, especially considering you were often gifted your army via the cards.

Admittedly AOE2 was a childhood game for me, but I do think that it stands up without nostalgia goggles.

I remember I played # before 2 when I got a CD of the game with my compuer

I would say it's equally good, especially if you get the expansions and Napoleon Wars mod
