Holy shit, I just realized that the greatest TES game ever was released a little over 10 years ago.
The last time I played it was in 2008, yet I remember every single thing so vividly, how is this even possible? Guess only truly amazing games can have this kind of effect on people.
Any of you tried re-playing the game recently (or playing it for the first time)? What's it like? Is it still good or is it unplayable garbage?
Back when Bethesda's NPC interaction just seemed retarded instead of horribly broken and fake
Fuck voiced protagonists, "radiant" dialogue (or whatever they call it), and the dialogue wheel. The old system works and is so much better aesthetically & technically
Grayson Clark
>tfw I don't remember anyone from Morrowind or Skyrim >tfw I remember the whole Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion >tfw every playthrough I get so attached to them I feel fucking bad for having to kill them
Why does Oblivion feel like the only TES game where you're an actual character with some personality living, doing interesting stuff with actual impact on you and teaming up with other actual characters? Morrowind and Skyrim feel so... impersonal.
Ayden Diaz
;_;
Jonathan Moore
What mods should I have if I want to play Oblivion for the first time?
Sup Forums keeps telling me it's better than Skyrim, so I might give it a try after all. It only took me ten years though, lol.
Ryder Parker
In Skyrim you were constantly reminded how goddamn special and powerful you are. In Oblivion, you're a common chump who gets wrapped up in the story of the chosen one. One is lazy writing, the other isn't.
Anthony Young
Just don't level. That's all you need to do to keep the game fun.
I preferred Skyrim personally, but some of the quest lines in Oblivion are way more memorable.
Alexander Jenkins
It's time to move on to Skyrim 2 already. Goddam what a bunch of turbonerd loser virgin faggots.
Justin Allen
Is this some Skyrim conversion or something?
Owen Jones
But the greatest TES game ever was released 14 years ago.
Jackson Carter
Unofficial patches, Oblivion Reloaded, and Oscuro's overhaul are essential.
Also a shitton of other mods because game is broken as fuck today and barely playable.
Guardly's guide gives some decent recommendations but no instructions beyond that like on how to properly install them.
Ethan Hughes
>Back when Bethesda's NPC interaction just seemed retarded instead of horribly broken and fake That retardation has its charms though.
Kevin Barnes
Heavily modded Oblivion, actually.
Hudson Mitchell
>That retardation has its charms though. Ah, yes, the point of view of a lesser creation gradient.
Colton Howard
I got you f-a-m
This was almost 2 years ago, but I remember having fun with this loadset.
Porn mods are optional, depending on what kind of experience you're looking for.
Chase Anderson
Jesus those eyes look way too fucking HIE REZ.
It's like I'm staring into 2 eyes of Sauron.
Parker Lopez
yes I was in the chess club
Parker Cox
>just don't level Basically this Or get Oscuro's Overhaul & a leveling mod like OblivionXP or Realistic Leveling that lets you not have to worry about micromanaging the way you level up.
Landon Lewis
The world is empty, characters and vegetation look like made out of clay, combat is stiff and clunky, AI is utterly terrible, dialogues are Skyrim tier bullshit, the whole game is too easy in general. Even mods can't help. The only decent Bethesda game is Morrowind, and I don't like it either.
Hudson Harris
WATCH THE SKIES
Nicholas Richardson
HOLY SHIT
why that many
Alexander Morales
You sleep rather soundly for a murderer.
Jaxon Clark
My, my, you're a big one. A Nerd, I'd guess, right? So euphoric ... But you can't melt steel, can you boy? You can't do anything to get out of here. And those big mounds of fat? They're going to waste away. When the end comes, you won't even have the strength to cry for your mother. That's right. You're going to die in here. You hear me, Nerd? You're going to die in here!
Jacob Collins
I'm more worried about the fact that he fell in a tub of wax.
Levi Taylor
That shit scared me
Juan Gomez
What Final Fantasy game is this from?
Gabriel Cox
once you play the game long enough, you'll understand.
It took me exactly 247 mods for Skyrim before I could say I was enjoying myself, for example.
Just keep in mind, if you want to mod a bethesda game right, be prepared to spend the next 2 to 3 days putting everything together before you actually start playing the game.
Isaiah Anderson
Shitty Bethesda games need a lot of mods to be fun, unless you're on the autism spectrum.
Bentley Sullivan
I mean he's a lizard. Scales are shiny. Although the luster of the scales doesn't match that of the room.
But hey the author of that mod is just a noob who cannot shaders right?
Eli Cruz
>HAHA YOU'RE PRETTY GOOD >that's just nonsense >not now not ever >okay
>Not bad!
Nah Oblivion sucked and the NPCs were some ugly fucking mongrels. The combat was an improvement though.
Samuel Hernandez
You guys better reinstall Oblivion and give it the Nehrim treatment before Enderal hits Skyrim early July.
Noah Stewart
By Azura! By Azura! By Azura!
Jacob Allen
I think it's because the armor she's wearing is enchanted, all the characters who wear enchanted armor have a glow around them.
Brayden Jackson
I just started replaying this and it's still fun and comfy as hell. Sometimes I wish Skyrim wasn't just brown grey and dull green: the game
Matthew Bennett
>Shitty Bethesda games need a lot of mods to be fun >It took me exactly 247 mods for Skyim befire I could say I was enjoying myself. Found the autistic couple in the thread.
Alexander Nguyen
>leveled enemies >awful combat >shitty oblivion gates >every city is basically the same
Oblivion a shit
Christopher Rogers
>the greatest TES game ever was released a little over 10 years ago.
NEIN NEIN NEIN
MORROWIND
ENEMIES DON'T LEVEL WITH YOU IN SOME GAY FUCKING CASUAL FASHION
Eli Gutierrez
>his toaster can't even run modded Oblivion lmao
William Martinez
Yet you're still underage.
Joseph Hill
>Oblivion shills still exist
What the fuck is wrong with you people? Oblivion is the beginning of the end of Bethesda.
Cameron Thompson
That sounds rather exhausting and not fun. I guess I'll just enjoy the vanilla version.
I beat New Vegas without any mods and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had playing a video game, so...
Jordan Ramirez
Morrowind is FOURTEEN that's 14 YEARS old and I still can't get it to run at 60 fps. My graphics card is trash no bully
Sebastian Collins
New Vegas wasn't made by Bethesda, so...
Mason Wilson
>every city is basically the same Oh yes because Bruma looks like Skingrad that looks like Kvatch...oh wait
Luke Price
>I find vanilla Bethesda games enjoyable and full of rich content
[autism intensifies]
Nicholas Butler
Just a reminder he got a lifetime achievement award after Fallout 4.
Brayden Campbell
>Oblivion is the greatest TES game ever released >this is an acceptable opinion in nuNeo-Sup Forums
Hiroshima needs to nuke this board.
Jackson Sanders
>>every city is basically the same Now you know this isn't true.
Viper yourself.
Isaiah Wood
cant fix the gameplay though
Alexander Rivera
But New Vegas was actually a good game by default.
Christopher Phillips
This, you aren't the Chosen One, you help the Chosen One kill himself
Sebastian Roberts
It does. Fuck obliviasdfasdan fags.
Luke Wilson
So how bad is TESO?
Adrian Ortiz
There's nothing wrong with it git gud
Nathan Morgan
>quest: hey go buy a book from this store halfway across the map >quest: hey go to this other place and get this book someone stole from me >quest: hey i need some mushrooms go to the forest and pick some for me I'd rather play wow.
Carson Myers
>dice rolling gameplay >can't hit shit at point blank range with a huge ass sword yea no
Oblivion has best quest mods >Lost Spires, Golden Crest, Knights of the Nine Revelations, Northern Front...
Blake Moore
Use the weapon related to what you're skilled in
As soon as you hit 40 in a skill you pretty much won't miss as long as your stamina is above 80%
Christian Green
Lol
Jayden Martin
Why play mediocre RPGs when you can play good ones?
Alexander Howard
>greatest TES game ever
This is how I know you were 10 when it came out.
Ayden Collins
Is there a mod that fixes the faces without turning them into animu garbage?
Jace Davis
any mods to fix the shitty cluttered ui?
Andrew Davis
That's explain a Lot. Still, it should have been your first Game too for not seeing how horrible it was.
Ayden Kelly
Because the system itself was good and perfect tool for modders to put together interesting mods. Shame Bethesda only really used for Dark Brotherhood quests which were absolute highlight of the game.
why not both? gothic 2 is one of those perfect sequels, though - bigger and better original.
Adam Jackson
Shivering Isles, the Dark Brotherhood questline and the Thieves Guild questline are fucking masterpieces.
Blake Nguyen
>morrowind >cluttered ui
you mean best ui ever made? you're crazy, n'wah.
Carson Sanders
that looks even shittier than the original
Kevin Butler
Also had the best DLC along with Fallout 3
Andrew Gutierrez
Then you're outta luck senpai
Kayden Barnes
This is me, swapping Morrowind and Daggerfall. My friend actually started yelling at me when I told him, fucking nerd.
Zachary Davis
>best ui 99% of the time you can't make out what kind of buff or debuff you have
Jacob Fisher
Fallout 3 had pretty average DLC
Ethan Lewis
Kek
Carter Walker
Wait?
Why is everyone shitting on Oblivion? Why does Sup Forums always have to be so fucking edgy and contrarian? Just because Skyrim and Fallout 4 were garbage it doesn't mean that Oblivion was garbage too. Yes, the game had a bunch of flaws, but it was still extremely enjoyable with tons of creative and thought-out quests.
Jose Phillips
>OBLIVION WAS 10 YEARS >a kid who was 8 then is 18 now Gee, what a coinkidink we are getting Oblivion threads like this. Now I don't even care about Oblivion, but the wave of testosterone deficient new males posting right now is troubling.
The worst is when they complain about UI when it actually offers a superior macro and micro when compared to modern games.
Eli Wood
>TFW you think of TES and all that you remember is mediocrity
nothing Bethesda does can stand the test of time
Easton Cook
yeah but YOU WERE 10 AND YOUR OPINION IS DIFFERENT FROM MINE
>bruma >snow covered, nordic houses, tiered city on the hill >Leyawin >spring-like, almost mossy, with large flat areas and open park feeling >Skingrad >held between and on two hills, notably high houses denoting the materialistic nature of the town >Bravil >slumland, shacks, you can practically hear the buzzing gnats from the waterside, the whole town trying to stay royal but failing miserably Please dude, try again
Eli Bailey
>edgy >contrarian What is edgy and contrarian about saying that Bethesda games are shit? You can't name a single one without some horrible flaw.
Jose Phillips
why is oblivions combat satisfying with a bit of comedy?
