quick question, about to marathon Suikoden series. I want to import my save from s1 to s2 when I'm done.
I remember reading that either PAL or NTSC versions of these games have some issues. Which one and what issues?

the obvious being ntsc save wont be read by pal version and visa versa
the more helpful stuff
pal runs at 50hz so the timed recruitment for 1 of the characters is harder to do on it
when your main character from s1 joins in s2, depending on how you named them in s1, their will be added capital letters or some such nonsense in s2
other than that, not much else worth noting
Thanks dude, thats what I wanted to know.
Here is a small hint that has nothing to do with your question. When you start the first game, leave the city as soon as the game gives you control, before anyone else joins your party (i.e. don't go immediately to the palace). Instead, enter the mountain and make your way to the small town there. If you manage to reach the town all by yoursel and talk to the people there, you'll get a reward for making the dangerous journey through the mountains all by yourself.
Neat
Heres a song from the game

Suikoden 1 was my favourite though I've only played 1 and 2
Play the PAL versions if you can. They were released somewhat later and fixed some problems like missing audio tracks and overlooked translation which was just left garbled in JAP and US versions of S2. Keep in mind it doesn't re-translate the game or anything so you're still dealing with...... THIS!!!! most of the time. Also something really important to keep in mind is that if you decide to play a PAL version of S1 you MUST play a PAL version of S2 as well in order to import your save. I'm not sure how that works with S3 which never received a PAL release, though.
>there will never be Suikoden VI
>there will never be Suikoden VI
Good? The creator left after 3, and 4 and 5 were dogshit.
>Suikoden 1
OH FUCK
This.
Suikoden5 is probably the worst "big name" game I ever played. Nothing ever happens, literaly.
Not really. 5 just takes fucking forever to get rolling. And villains were probably the weakest in the entire series. Bad guy from 4 was at least intimidating if nothing else.
1 and 2 have underrated as fuck soundtracks.

5 and 3 were good.
Dont want to offend you but that is some seriously shit sounding music.
Been playing Suikoden 1for the whole day, already clocked in 12 hours.
How repetitive do the battles get?
When you get to the southern part of the map the difficulty picks up, the big battles are rock paper scissors anyways.
I dont think this is a good idea. PAL version runs at 25 frames per second whilst NTSC runs at 30. I rather the "better" visuals.
I never said 3 was bad. I said everything AFTER 3 was awful cause that's when the original creator left.
I always always always choose Kasumi.
I like cute ninja chicks
Kasumi. Earlier access to ninja village means quicker castle growth.
And Sasuke is cute.
I am in love with my nanny.
the NTSC version of Suikoden 2 has some translation problems and one of the characters who is supposed to sing doesn't, its just silence. The PAL version fixed those bugs
While PAL resolves some problem, you won't be able to transfer a Pal Suikoden 2 save to a NTSC Suikoden 3 game. And Suikoden 3 is NTSC-only.
>All these replies
>Not one person is aware of the bugfix patch
Jesus, Sup Forums, you're slipping.
Suikoden 1 is fine, 2 has loads of bugs, some of which are related to the save carry over, and the PAL release didn't fix most of them. The bugfix here fixes all of them, so apply that before playing: suikosource.com

man, I feel like everyone who played this on the PS1 missed out on so much.
This is the only ending theme I recognize, and this simple track gives me those warm chills already.
