Where's that "chooses not to add lazy romances therefore he is a cuck" poster today?

tbqh family fuck that man. Pillars is not perfect but it sure as hell is solid. I bet he doesn't even think Josh is a cute.

I'd let him balance me on his cock if you know what I mean :^)

I agree with you, but I am not sure that this is not even more creepy than pepetual shitposter-kun's hourly threads.

And an idiot.

If a man does not want to be creeped on he shouldn't make roleplaying games. He's practically asking for it by being so provocative.

He's genuinely good developer. Like Miyamoto, his games have heart.

I hope he gets to make the equivalent of NV with the Fallout 4 engine.

I've been a fan of Josh since I learned he was the director on New Vegas and every time I read his thoughts on game design I wish Bethesda had someone like him in charge who actually cares instead of Todd

I'll always respect Sawyer for adding situations in New Vegas that didn't force you to judge violent rape. There's at least two scenes with implied rape and murder committed by the Legion and the Powder Gangers, but the game treats it as this brutal "natural disaster" instead of having you go out and avenge these crimes or other nonsense like that.

I think the only rapist that the game really pushes you to kill is Cook-Cook, and that's mostly for the bounty and the NCR rep.

...

The only one I remember clearly is the scene at Ranger Station Charlie. There's also a destroyed caravan where it's implied to the East of Goodsprings, but I don't remember exactly where it was. It really weirded me out when I realized that only the female guard was missing her clothes.

I actually think his games are competent and that he gives a lot of thought to each design decision he makes which is more than I can say about the majority of designers who just cargo cult. Ultimately, though, his games lack *feeling*.

You think New Vegas lacks feeling? What do you mean?

It is interesting to note that Josh is a feminist. He's just not radical.

>It really weirded me out when I realized that only the female guard was missing her clothes.

New Vegas has so many little details like that in it. I'd have to play it ten more times to notice them all.

feminist who dismissed the concept of trigger warnings as ridiculous when he was asked about the rape themes in the games he's directed

The caravan was Ringo's

The female guard is scripted to be missing her clothes

I assume he means feeling like the fallout 3 ending where you nobly sacrifice yourself to radiation while Fawkes watches.

I don't know how to put it. It just lacked atmosphere. Compare New Vegas to NEO Scavenger. Every fiber of NEO screams of the apocalypse, of what was lost, of the absurdity of it all. New Vegas feel like polished plastic plastered with the image of a pop idol.

NVR takes it to another level.

New vegas atmosphere is more wild west or vegas kind of stuff. If you want that kind of atmosphere you should check fallout 1 where the apocalypse is more recent. Fallout 2 and new vegas are more post post apocalypse where civilization is starting to come about again.

The mistake that a lot of people make is to say that New Vegas is a post-apocalyptic setting. It's more of a Western where the specific setting is fucked but other parts of the world are all right, like Shady Sands and other places out West.

Too much time and too much reconstruction has passed for New Vegas to still be post-apocalyptic.

I agree that it doesn't feel as apocalyptic as it could. I'll look into NEO Scavenger

Yeah, you're right, but even for what it was it still felt like it lacked the emotion and authenticity.

I liked that it was subtle and that you could totally miss it in the vanilla game.

It's also shocking to me that I could call a rape and murder "subtle."

Is it what's called post post-apocalyptic?

It's definitely not as cohesive as Fallout 3, mostly because of development constraints and the limited deadline. I don't blame you for feeling that it's less polished since it really was less polished.

Fuck, I gotta replay NV with NVR

The absurdity of the fact that each companion has an in-depth, incredibly hard to unlock questline is infinitely pleasing to me.

There's just so much content in this fucking game that 99% of its players will never see.. really feels like a product of love.

Which doesn't matter because Fallout 3's writing, story, characters, etc are like a children's story book in comparison to NV's

As funny as that sounds, it really is post-post-apocalyptic. People even make comments that Shady Sands is so developed that it's a borderline recreation of how life was like before the War. Even Vault City in Fallout 2 is far, far more advanced than what you see over a century later in New Vegas.

Since bethesda was clearly going for a "the war is fresh in people's minds", why did they make it 200 years in the future?

Because they ignored all of the progression that happened over those 200 years and designed their game as if the bombs were just dropped anyways. Because they're incompetent.

It is one of my favorite games ever but it is definitely not for everyone. The interface is awful and the game is just ugly in many ways. It is unfair and poorly balanced. Despite all of that it is still one of the most raw, real experiences I had the pleasure of playing.

You've been walking all day. It is getting dark. You see a city in the horizon but your calloused feet can only take you so fast. It starts raining. You cough as your sickness resurges, as hypothermia coils around you like a python.

Your plastic shopping bag rips. All of your belongings - aside from the 2 shirts you are wearing - spill on the ground. You can't carry it all. You stuff your pockets with as much as you can carry and hold the rest in your arms as you shuffle ahead. Night falls. Darkness - true darkness, the kind civilized men have not known for a long time - blinds you.

You reach the city.
You see a man with a gun.
You tell him you don't want to fight.
He shoots you and takes your shirt.

It's kind of hilarious to me that less than 200 years later, the West Coast is this bustling civilization with Tandi's NCR while the East Coast is still this savage wasteland.

Can't write
Can't design gameplay

The man is Obsidian personified. Can't wait for #vampirelivesmatter subplot in Paradox Tencent's new game, he's smart like that.

I think they originally intended the game to happen around fallout 1 but then some sperg in bethsada went all "we never make prequels" and they turned the clock foward 200 years.

> #vampirelivesmatter
> Anarchs/Carthians doing what they've always been doing

I don't see how that would break immersion

I-is that a bike? Is there anything Sawyer CAN'T do?

They probably won't make Sawyer in charge of Vampire since it requires some soul to work, plus he will be busy with PoE 2.

Placate the codex.

Fix New Vegas.

you will never garner universal acclaim from codex without a turn-based system, and Josh has yet to work on one altough he has expressed desire to

He did the best he could but ultimately he had to work around Bethesda's limitations

If you're a feminist in a western country then you are radical, unwanted and unneeded.

>Actually deeply cares about making good RPG's with good writing and balance
>Gets made fun of
>Meanwhile Bethesda

Honestly just getting the mod that adds back a ton of clutter tp the wasteland helps alot

Vurts trees help too, especially if you get the barren variety.

Bethesda's strength's lay in building a world that you can go in any direction and find shit in. Then writing lore pieces about said world. But they haven't played to their strengths properly since Morrowind

The fuck?

He also rides the motorcycle.

>Not wanting The Sawyer
tbqh you're a faggot

More like woefully misguided.
The problem with SJWs has allways been that they think the best way to secure some sort of egalitarian utopia is to pass blame on white dudes because "they deserve it"

They Try to condescend the *isms out of people, which if you look at history, doesn't work.

I'd believe it.

Bethesda is oddly fixated on never making prequels. Obsidian originally wanted NV to take place between 2 and 3 but weren't allowed to, yet the rape and violent murders were.

i don't like his shitty tattoos

Hipster vegan faggot that worships anita.

The realization that we never ever will have another good fallout game really hurts.

Fuck you bethesda, fuck you Todd and fuck you too, retardface

While I do agree with his and Avellone's philosophy about romances in crpgs just being lazy check lists, I do think it's an effective way of making you care about the character and I think PoE would've benefited from having them because it otherwise failed to make me give a shit. And before you pounce on me, I'm not saying that I didn't care about the characters because I couldn't romance them, I mean that it failed to make the characters interesting and likable enough for me to like them, and that romances could've probably saved them from that.

I mostly agree that most PoE characters were a bit flat. The priest and the mother were cool.

The Mother was grating because she droned on and on about shit I didn't care about and the voice actress they picked wasn't good and Durance was great on paper but they didn't really do much with him and his story was really poorly paced, so it ended up not mattering.
