Overkill Software owns the Payday franchise again, drops Payday 2 microtransactions

WHAT THE FUCK
allgamesdelta.net/2016/05/overkill-software-owns-payday-franchise.html

So is anyone going to start playing again?

Console update when?

I might actually start playing this again.

The microtranactions pissed me off.

So? All that shit was already in the game, you just had to unlock it with an unlocker. Hell even trying to block "cheaters" didn't work.

>Overkill Software owns the Payday franchise again
so they didn't own it previously?

>Overkill software owns payday
Wait who used to own it?

"Owned" by Starbreeze

No, I'm too scared to play multiplayer games. I get nervous and anxious needing to talk to people I don't know.

I did this too when I was 12 on xbox for the first time.
You have to deal with it one day or be ruled by it the rest of your life.

Literally no one communicates in this game unless you play on the highest difficulty or you want to go stealth. If you suck you get kicked anyway so no big deal honestly.

>Overkill Software owns the Payday franchise again
>again

huh? when did they lose the rights? is the company that did own it the one that crammed it full of microtransactions? someone get me up to date on this shit.

Really? This seems like the kind of game where talking is key. I'll keep the people down, you open the safe, and shit like that.

Microtransactions didn't kill the game, a metric fuckton of imbalanced "pay to even be remotely competent" DLCs did.
Transactions were just the cherry on the shitcake.

Probably some bullshit to try and rescue the title after they poisoned the well.

The game lost 2/3rds of the playerbase in just eight months.

You give Payday 2 way too much credit. You can do all the objectives and shit by yourself zero hassle.

Wait, who owned payday 2? what happened to the game's ownership?

Overkill = payday 2 developers
505 games = publisher

How do starbreeze fit into this?

This. Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me who believes in you.

>18 months support
>18 months more without hideout customisation

Apparently starbreeze got the rights payday franchise when they bought overkill software. I don't think I've heard about that part.

A lot of the DLC is unnecessary.

Sniper pack & shotgun pack = you're good to go forever.

Pretty much that.

>So is anyone going to start playing again?

game offers no variation other than random guards, camera and loot emplacements.Plan B is just a bukkake of cops, community is still shit and people will kick you for having a private profile or bogus achievements

Why bother?

Starbreeze still exists? I thought they became Machinegames

if it's something you really care about, maybe a nudge to the devs in the steam forum would be in order.

Nice meme.

Except they've been promising hideout customization (and other shit) since the game came out years ago.

they killed the franchise with all the milking so im done with them

Still are. OK replied in a thread to someone asking about that, he said "not yet"

I dont even know why you autistic fucks want that. But they did say they'll do it, and still saying they will, so I guess your autism is right on this one

I hope they just take it back before the microtransaction shit.

I wanna use GOONMOD again and make stupid custom textured/painted weapons with mask patterns again.

They only got rid of the MT so that they can try and sell Payday 3 to people retarded enough to fall for their shit attempt at getting goodwill back.

I miss early Payday 1 Overkill who actually gave a shit

good seeing that they backed out on the shitfest that the game became in the last few years, at least to some extent

but honestly after playing over 700 hours of this thing, I can't say I'm willing to come back

It's a good thing but I agree that it's probably time for PD3 soon. Maybe that shit will just be F2P from the start.

If you look at their press release or whatever, it mentions Starbreeze getting a share of the profit from Payday 3, so its already more or less been announced.

Expect it at E3

Starbreeze owns/owned all of Overkill.

But the announcement is that overkill got the rights back which means the microtransactions weren't overkill's idea

I don't particularly care about it but it's pretty ridiculous how long they've been promising it and nothing has happened. At this point it might just make it when the support for the game ends.

>PAYDAY for mobile platforms.

It doesn't mean that, it just means they were sharing their profits with their publisher. They were still developing the game.

they can try to pd2 all they want but their next game release will be hell

I'm sure the publisher had a saying on what to do with the game.

Im not gonna play it again until the DLC Unlocker works again because seriously

I'm sure they did force them to include some form of micro transaction, but I doubt the publisher got deeply involved with the implementation, or design of it.

So with drills disappearing, should I sell mine in the steam market before the update gets live? I dont want to lose 2,8 $

Obviously, grab yourself some quick chumpchange.

Although people might not be buying now, either.

Can't wait to see how payday 3 turns out. Will people trust them again or will it be an even worse turnout than recent shit like SF 5 and MN9?

I'm guessing it'll bomb after the blatant lie they shoved down people's throats.

That's cool. If the DLC unlocker and mods are working again, then I'll play it.

never stopped bby
