Will be a good game until Basara 5 releases

A very serious and thought provoking story of the westernization of Japan.

It's pretty good, but I got bored of it fairly quickly. Not because it was a bad game, I should add.

There's a lot of customisation for both your looks and fighting style, you can create weapons, sleep with people, choose what path or faction you want to take, kill random people, run your own Dojo and more.

If you're into to that sorta stuff, give it a shot.

Wait really? The steam screenshots make it look like a comedy

What do you think?

i had a good time with it
theres an over the top story and its goofy as fuck a lot of the time but its overall fun
i liked 3 better though it gives a better samurai feel and the characters all have names and personalities instead of just nameless folk
cannot wait for ni-oh though
i cant get enough samurai action

It's an acquired taste.
The game is slow paced, and has multiple routes.
I reccomend getting it at discount.

If you are looking for something close to Nioh you should try Onimusha. Namely 2

It's unlike any other game I've played. In a good way.

Play the second one, it's one of the best games ever, no kidding.

He's joking. Anyway, I haven't played it, but the 3rd one takes place in a rural setting, in case you prefer it.

It's fucking awesome.

I never finished it because I spent too much time trying to build a master sword.
Do you get the fugg the little girl?

Different user, is 3 a little less goofy? How is the combat system compared to 4?

meant for

3 has its moments but its overall quite serious
it takes place in a rural village and during the warring states
its combat is similar to the other games but unlike 4 the movesets are locked to each sword although thats not really a problem
you can draw your sword and attack anyone during cutscenes although its not reccomended
its seriously one of my favorite games out there

FUCK YOU CAPCOM I HATE YOU YOU FUCKING FUCKS

How is the PC port of that anyways? I had no idea it had a port as well, just saw it on steam one day. Have it on my PS3 but never got that into it. The game sort of made me nervous, like everything I was doing I was doing wrong.

Does Onimusha 2 allow me to explore towns like WotS does? I remember playing one of them (2?) and enjoying the interactive towns. Im a real sucker for ruroni kenshin so thats probably why

Thanks man. What about the choices? As branched as 4?

never played the pc port
there are 23 endings and everything you do is wrong unless you get the true ending where everyone is happy (except shuzen fujimori) but you can just play through it again and go for another
there are some endings that are slight variations of others and there are some that are full of deceit and betrayal and they usually often end in a bloody showdown

Thanks, man.

It's cool but the game takes place in literally like 4 screens. Incredibly tiny world.

Grinding up a decent sword to take on the Harakiri True Ending is fucking hideous.

Fun otherwise. Tiny world, as others have said.

No unfortunately, there are segments where you can bond with your allies, and shop for inventory. But overall it's more linear than way of the samurai

It's less goofy when it comes to the story, minigames and such are still silly. I find 3 overall worse. Characters are nowhere near as memorable as in 4 except for Itsuse. Combat system is very similar but you don't have guns obviously and maybe claws either. Styles are linked to weapons and you only ever get to carry 3 weapons. 4 also seems to have more to do all around. I put 75 hours into 4 and not even 20 into 3, and I have damn near 100%-d both.

>Yukimura-Den
>Basara 5
Stop being dumb.

Yeah but like 70% of WoTS4's "stuff to do" is grinding up those fucking styles.

I kinda prefer that in open world games.

A tiny world with a lot of detail is a lot more enjoyable than a huge world with no detail I find.

Also 3 is kind of garbage because you have to spend so much time grinding reputation for the various factions. There's really no way to even know if the quest objective decided to spawn until you comb over every single inch of the map over and over again which makes it take way way longer than it should.

Yeah, well, I just used CE to give myself a ton of style scrolls in both games. Fuck grinding.

It's great, really. Tons of humor, combat system is pretty solid and you can yobai your waifu.

You might need a guide though, it's a true branching path story afterall.

So what? Part of that grind is to find skills that are on your "must have on my custom style" list.

If there's something wrong with WotS4, it's World Wide Warrior trophy.

>I just used CE to give myself a ton of style scrolls in both games

Tell me more.

He cheated. Using Cheat Engine.

it's fun and stupid

Way of the Samurai games are great, OP. You should definitely play 4 and then give 2 a try.

It was pretty fun

And then I tried for the true ending on Hara-Kiri mode and I stopped having fun

Stock up on dat medicine

See that's the issue

Most shit just one shot you on Hara Kiri

And there's also a segment where you have to fight all 3 of the sisters bare handed which took me over a half an hour and that was my first try

If it's anything like the first game, expect it to control weird compared to most games and be balls hard.

Spam counters to win during that section. Remember that they can only fight you one at a time anyway.

its not that hard

and you only need 1-2 bigshots and not all 3 to have a decent sword

moveset matters more

oh and I better post this

not hard to deal with if you have the right fist moves

even on harakiri where the damage is normalized anyway

>A very serious and thought provoking story

It sorta is a very interesting story even with all the comedy and over-the-top stuff.

The scenes with Kogure in class are pretty good political satire.

Best track coming through

>YOO

and then it turns very awesome

>tfw going full jidaigeki w/reshade

>ywn try his sushi

Feels Sword of doom man

Oh I got a couple of decent charms, but then it turns out that the handle was too small so my two handed sword had one hand in the air and you would not believe how much that shit bothered me.

It's funny and a fun game

I played for like ten hours, two or three endings and then never touched it again

Solid 4/10 game

I loved it, the gameplay is fun and there's many routes to explore which I enjoy. Might be one of my top 20 games.

Any good jidaigeki to recommend?

if you haven't gone through all the essential kurosawa, that should always be a starting point

i love the lady snowblood films, but they're much more pulpy. worth checking out if you're down for a bit of pinku eiga

Fuck, looks like I'm reinstalling this.

I just used CE myself. Rarely touch the thing, but I made a legit attempt at forging the sword I wanted first, but it wasn't happening. Turned out well because I made some kinda OP claws and other fun weapons too and got more hours of the game that way.

its not really that hard

you find parts you want, and then assemble and deassemble until it works

then agian it took me an hour of doing that to get what I want

Is it just me, or does this game have amazing voice-acting? The foreigners speaking Japanese really sound like foreigners.

>you will never frogsplash your waifu

>not picking up his sushi after he's taken away

>The bad end version of Samurai Straight
All the routes gave me a feel.
Especially True Route because I saved it for last, and I didn't want it to end.

Her entire character is just "I am hungry for your cock please take me mister samurai".

>when this started playing in the true route
youtube.com/watch?v=D6ZqhpXsqzA

>yfw you could barely hear it because the audio mixing is fucking terrible

Well it's good that you can give her just that.

So, what's the general consensus?

4>1>3>2?

Who here got /boiled/ on first playthrough?

I didn't actually believe it was going to be game over.

borrowed 3 recently on a whim, didn't really try to break very deep into the game and only got one good end and one bad end. Mainly because people started talking about the games in a thread and I knew it would be wasted effort because I was pretty much set on buying 4 after that.

In terms of gameplay 4 is definitely the best game. It's pretty much just a choose your own adventure with singleplayer fighting game combat. So far I have half the endings. I think the pacing is way better than 3.

I just want to add that I always crank up the fight music.

Me
Not cool man

Didn't WOTS3 just got released on steam? I liked 4 and I'm planning on getting 3.

LOL

4 is the worst one no question, they fucking killed the gameplay, go play 2 and then 4, it's a world of difference.
