I'm bored of grinding through boring story quests and dungeons aren't that great either, level 40-45ish

It hasn't even begun. There's a fuck ton of filler between lvl 50 and Ishgard.

Though it gets pretty fun if you can get through it.

It's a Final Fantasy game, expect the whole leveling till 60 to be story driven.

That said, the plot gets much better when you reach 50 and the leveling from 50 to 60 feels like a real Final Fantasy game.

If you are here for raids and stuff, you get this at levels 50 and 60 but don't expect them to be "large dungeons" like in WoW. The raiding in FFXIV is more about killing the bosses than clearing a path inside a dungeon.

Dragoons, in Dungeons where do you stop AoEing, at 400 tp? Sick of being the only party member AoEing at then getting left with no tp with 4 enemies left.

So how is raid finder even going to work

Dungeons will have decent scenery but they do not get anymore interesting. Optional paths range from nothing to a ten yard hallway in plain view to a shitty treasure chest that most groups will just ignore. They do not get better at all, so have fun.

Is this more fun the GW2?

Try to at least reach 50, although the grind will just go from leveling to doing all the godforsaken story missions to reach Ishgard.
But if you're really not enjoying it it's probably a good chance to just not resubscribe.

I stopped caring about the fucking scions after that scene I only wanted a "happy" ending for my party. Be friends with them and them helping us on a high end story content.

They're are only not friends at this point.

get archer to 34 for quelling strikes and arcanist to 34 for eye for an eye if you want

Lets discuss why rdm was a shit job in XI and would make a shitter job in XIV.

Red Mage in XI brought the complete delusion that you were a jack of all trades by giving you balanced stats all across the board but also giving you unique spells specific to you that focused on either enhancing you and only you or just being an enfeebling nuke. It was a garbage job that people only wanted for having heals alongside the debuffs which was far more desirable than the white mage who was only good at healing.

So why wouldn't it translate well into XIV? How do you put a class thats a jack of all trades into an MMO with a holy trinity system? How would it fit in with the already existing BLM and WHM if they use specific elements to themselves.

I always feel like I have to get through content as fast as possible to reach endgame and I don't feel like enjoying myself. I want to do the extreme trials for ARR to get the mounts but I feel like I'm hindering my progress to Heavensward endgame and it bothers me.

Quelling is a crutch for shit tanks, it's not in any way essential.

Believe me when I say that you'll have more fun if you do what you actually want to do. Primal Mount farming is as good an activity as any. Also: you get cards and glamour weapons.

You're right, I actually haven't. Almost all MCH players I've been paired with are ass.

BRD is like the retard cousin of MCH. Just very slow and barely keeps up

a minmaxed BLM opener will rip aggro from the tank no matter how skilled they are unless you wait for them to enstablish aggro

Not super familiar with the MCH kit (literally just bothered to unlock it yesterday) but doesnt their big party damage buff come at no cost to their own personal DPS? That hardly seems fair by comparison.

I've seen several 10k Fire IV crits in a row of BLM in their opener, thanks to Litany and Balance, it's insane.

Do the later fires just replace fire 1 like thunder II does? Fire II and Blizz II are pretty useless

Not only does hypercharge cost them nothing, it doesn't use their MP, so they always have a full charge of MP/TP battery for the party.

Thunder 2 is useless once you get Thunder 3 (unless you're doing some crazy secondary theorycraft build). You use Thunder 1 to apply the dot and Thunder 3 with thundercloud procs.

before getting fire/bliz 4, you spam fire 1 for firestarter procs until you run out of mana, then bliz 3 and do whatever until you're fully stocked and you can use fire 3 to go back to spamming fire

once you get fire and bliz 4, you have to manage another timed buff called enochian
fire 4 is your main damage spell, but it doesn't refresh anything
fire 3 is for going from umbral 3 to astral 3 right away
fire 1 is for refreshing astral
bliz 4 is for refreshing enochian
bliz 3 is for going from umbral to astral

the others are more or less useless

Oh child. Fire 2 is always better damage if you're hitting at least 3 enemies with it. Fire 3 is only used for establishing or switching full Fire/Ice stacks, same with Blizz 3. Personally I only ever hard cast T1, the others take too long, especially when Thundercloud procs are a thing.

more classes that do Melee damage than magical damage so that's even more in their favor. Not even a Bard player but they need some serious help, SE completely cucked them for MCH.

BRDs still slightly beat them at party utility when they're bothered to play Foe's Req. Emphasis on bothered
