everyone game post 2012

i told you

every* ^^

I no longer feel hype.

I spent an entire week playing XCX nonstop from waking up and going to sleep.

I got my fill.

Fuck you, man, I was about to open a thread about it.

It's a 7/10 at most.

Why are there so many stats and menus for everything? Shit could have been thousands of times simpler since there is a lot of useless crap.
They tried to make a super hardcore game with MUH STATS, but it was too much for them.

>tfw finally get a Skell
>tfw Skell combat has a 1/10th of the depth on-foot combat does and is all about spamming moves and trying to make the other guy die before you do

Don't forget the fucking camera

Same here. One day I think I spent 11 hours in one sitting. The game was great but it didn't save the wiiU for me.

Fuck ares 90

...

Skyrim

...

...

The Ratchet and Clank reboot. I hoped the series to go back to the roots but all I got was ok but nothing great like the first games in the series.

Bummer.

Skyward Sword

Inb4 shitstorm

Why couldn't Skells have been more of a throw-back to XBC arts usage, with some extra mechanics on top? I still think the whole "jam 8 fucking weapons on every single joint" is a terrible concept.

Star Ocean 4

I didn't know the game existed a week before I bought it and I got +100 hrs into it. Fucking loved it.

Same, I can't remember the last time a game hooked me in such a way.

Giving the player statistical information about their character is never a bad thing. If you don't understand what all of those numbers and words mean, then ignore them, but don't try to argue that simplifying information others may well find useful is ever a good idea.

...

>A hundred hours into it
>Just about to start chapter twelve
I'm almost free bros

Fallout 4. It isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be but it certainly isn't good either.

Yeah same here, except I got a bit more casual in week two

60 hours in week 1, up to 250 by February

Haha, NOPE there are post-game missions!

>Spent years being hyped for
>Fallout 4

the best kind

Do you mean actual story missions or just basic shit like 'kill the Telethia for no real reason'?

What's with you OP? You don't have to make a bait thread everytime you want a Xenoblade X thread

>Favorite weapon combo
>Favorite Party composition
>Best continent
>Lao did ____ wrong?

Post em

Photon Saber/Sniper Rifle Unlimited Overdrive master race here I roll with Murderess, Mia and L, Noctilum is GOAT and Lao did everything wrong

Optimizing menus, getting rid of shit that doesn't add to the game and presenting everything in a pleasing to read way is also part of making a game well.

Xenoblade X has menus everywhere when a simple tab, mixing screens of getting rid entirely of things would have been the best choice.
Add to that the fact that they used the smalles, more annoying font ever and you get bad feature.

Photon Saber and Ray Gun
HB, Yelv, Boze
Sylvalum
Everything

...

Why the FUCK were there no sound options? I wouldn't have minded the dub so much if it weren't twice as loud than the rest of the audio in the game.

I thought the music overpowered the voices.

>Mutiny for just team leader

Fuck it if i mutiny it's for Secretarial position at the very lowest

Getting hyped for games just makes things worse.

WHY IS THE FONT SO FUCKING SMALL FUCK

Dead State. Kickstarted it, knew about it even before the kickstarter. It came out. Was a competent game. Not offensive to the senses but pretty clunky and less ambitious than I hoped.

I bought a Wii U and modded it for XCX. After Xenoblade and all the trailers about XCX I was pumped, think I sat up and played for 26 hours when I downloaded it.

The game was good but nothing close to great. My Wii U has been collecting dust since I played it back in December.

...

This is one of my favorite games on the last decade tbqh familion

the game's entire focus was the overworld and mechs which more or less delivered

I was satisfied by it, I didn't mind the okay story because that's not what I wanted to play it for

It was still great unless you are having

you bought it for that only?

You know there's a library that exists right?

>tfw everyone just tells you to shut up

This is one of the best games I've played in years. It and rocket league are my GOTYs with a slight nod to this.

Are people STILL whining?

Jesus fucking Christ

The story didn't deliver massively, but that doesn't mean we are suddenly going to ignore the best game in the series that doesn't need to rely on story

All the other games relied heavily on it and the gameplay never mattered and would bomb if the stories shit

But Phantom Pain is different, the actual game is GREAT, it didn't need it's story, which was still interesting

You fucks set the bar too fucking high while ignoring the good shit

I think I finished the main story in 60 hours or so, and it really doesn't leave a lasting impression. You're stuck with two members, one of which comes with the most annoying fucking nopon possible, and half the chapters are basically tutorials.

It wasn't until I focused on the city missions, recruiting aliens and got to use party members I didn't despise with a passion that the game really took off for me. 220+ hours so far, pretty happy with the purchase.

>4 games of extensively convoluted yet charmingly campy story that people love, with great gameplay segments and set pieces in between
>5th game is an open world unfocused mess with none of the charm of the previous games, samey gameplay throughout the whole thing and no real ending

If you can't see why people would be disappointed you're literally retarded

Kojima pls go, your game was half-finished shit, which might have been a good thing since 40 more hours of extracting random shit may have driven players to chuck their TV through the window.

I don't like any games on Wii U except for XCX. I waited a long time and looked forward to XCX ,150$ wasn't that much. I also thought I could try out a few games while waiting for Zelda but it's all shit

Downloaded/tried games like monster hunter and bayonetta 2 but they're boring and bad in my opinion. I have no wish to play games like mario or other cartoony shit

It's honestly one of my favorite games. It has some clunky design choices but I can't remember the last time I experienced so much joy when exploring a world. I can put aside some of the clunky design and barebones plot because everything else is just so god damn good.

Yeah, the sidequests are definitely the crowning glory of XCX by miles and miles.

I think that is the biggest problem with the game- the main quest is so disapointing, that the sidequests literally steal the show. They should have just axed the main quest completely, put that time and money into upping the production values of the sidequests even further, and then just made it an open ended exploration/quest driven RPG with multiplayer. Seriously, do that, and toss in some MP dungeons and raids, and you have a PSO killer.

>Monster Hunter and Bayonetta 2
>boring and bad

How can one man's opinion be so awful?

I remember when I was 14 and hated Mario because it was gay cartoon shit

The camera's fucking great though, and it has a bajillion settings. You can even play in first person (which is a pretty great way of taking it the environment).

Now, the (non-existent) sound settings on the other hand...

This so much. The hours melted away when I turned that shit on. I cannot remember the last time I did that for a game. I just sat in my chair all day exploring and shit. This game was amazing.

The camera's fine aside from the fact that indoor areas will lock your camera to move slow as fuck

That picture is fucking awesome.

Reminds me of the old phantasy star games

Xcx was one of the first games in a long time to really get me hooked and playing more than 10 hours a day like i did in the old warcraft days.

I loved that game but it was hard not to be crushed by its overwhelming wasted potential.

It was like that for me too. But then for some reason I just completely lost all interest at around chapter 10. I just stopped playing. I did TONS of sidequests too and had like 150 hours too. The game just stopped feeling fun after the flight module, and that was after already feeling like I was having less fun after getting the Skells. Is there any way to make Skell combat not boring?

...

Monster Hunter has to be one of the most awful games I've ever played, it's equivalent to Dark Cloud on PS1. Bad maps, horribly gameplay, awful and close to non-existent characters and side-scrolling towns. I got told it was like Dark Souls but better but o boy did I get a laugh.

Bayonetta 2 is a linear DMC game where you just spam buttons and run a bunch of levels with score. I don't give two shits about muh waifu piss as well.

Both of the games doesn't appeal to me in the slighest, and thankfully thanks to modding I could try them without paying $30+

Actual story missions. Some affinity missions also require you to have completed chapter 12 IIRC.

It's not that there was too much information, it's that the information was presented like shit. The menus are poorly organized. In Xenoblade OG, if you hit select it tells you exactly what every stat means. It's fucking insane that Xenoblade X doesn't have that.

Bloodborne was really good though

>not playing Tropical Freeze because its cartoony shit

literal autism

There's a manual that's accessable at any time giving you detailed explanations of almost every mechanic in the game.

>Longsword/Dual Gun meme build
>L-Nagi-Rotating slot for Phog/Mia/Alexa
>Sylvalum
>Lao did most of everything wrong and was a whiny, stupid baby, but that moment he literally stabbed Luxxar in the back was fucking awesome and makes me wish he'd come back as a more reasonable and balanced person in an eventual sequel

>Dark Cloud on PS1
>PS1
Hueh
HUEH HUEH
Dark Cloud was a PS2 game, and it was a damn fine game at that. Dark Cloud 2 was better, though it had more noticeable flaws.

>bad maps
Fuck yooouuu. There were a couple of bad AREAS in each map, but the maps themselves were fine and having bad areas actually shook up the combat a little bit. 3U's biggest flaw was failing to improve upon underwater combat from Tri significantly.

>horrible gameplay
Yeah, nah. The combat is fine. It's based around having to learn your restrictions, and then apply your knowledge of what you can do to your knowledge of what the monster can do. I'm willing to bet you only played up to Great Jaggi and gave up there.

Monster Hunter and Dark Souls are entirely different beasts with a handful of similar concepts, in particular those being: understanding enemies, understanding self, and the weight of your attacks punishing you if you fuck up. In a way, if you're in Dark Souls for the combat, yes, Monster Hunter is better by a fucking mile. But if you're in Dark Souls for the RPG, the zeldavania, the lore, and the bullshit IWBTG segments, then it's not guaranteed that you'll enjoy Monhun.

>Bayonetta 2 is a linear DMC game
Not played DMC so I can't make a comment on that, but it's not fair to take away points based on comparisons to other games.

>where you just spam buttons
Sure, if you're playing on easy.

>and run a bunch of levels with a score
Like a game. Is there something wrong with that?

>muh waifu piss
?????????????
Do you mean the plot didn't engage you? Because honestly I don't think that's why people should be playing Bayonetta.

>buying a WiiU when you don't like cartoon graphics
Are you fucking stupid?

Monster Hunter is one of the best Co-operative experiences currently available in games. It is very technical and takes a lot of skill to play well.

youtube.com/watch?v=TfAF_FLEVfA&feature=youtu.be

Bayonetta 2 has some amazing combos and high level technical gameplay you can do. It also has some really cool boss fights. I never heard of anyone playing or thinking of that game in any sort of waifu way either, so I dont know what that comment is about.

youtube.com/watch?v=RcihhXg8j_o

Not him but I understand what he means. Also no the manual isn't nearly as accessible as the old XBC menus. You have to bail out of the menu, then spend the time loading it up, then have to look for the section and hope the right info is in there, and with certain things it straight up fails to explain them satisfactorily. It took me ages to figure out that Barrier is a damage reduction by percentage and not a limited damage negation or damage reduction by reducible number. Furthermore it's not entirely clear exactly how powerful certain buffs or auras are at different levels.

Being able to hit select then scroll through the individual stats to figure out EXACTLY what they meant from the same menu was a gift from the gods in XBC.

I just need an option to turn off the shit-tier music entirely.

UHH

YEAH

>aerial hammer
I don't see enough love for aerial anything around here aside from Dual Blades. Mostly people just parroting opinions that everything but Guild and maybe Striker is shit for kill times and that Bushido is OP, even though all of that largely depends on the weapon and the monster.

Is Xenoblade Chronicles 1 worth it? It's 20 on the eshop will I feel like I'm going backwards if I play it right after playing X?

I think my biggest problem with X is that the combat isn't as fun as the original's. The attacks look cool but because every character game has the same arts, they lack the personality of the original cast's skillsets. No chain attacks either for that feel good break, topple, daze. It's more complicated but I don't think that complexity actually added much to the gameplay.

A manual that has to be separately loaded from the game making it a hassle if you want to look something up on the spot (even xenoblade explained stats and status effects in the middle of battle) and still doesn't explain several things. There is still no excuse for a stat explanation feature not to be in the game itself especially when it's so much more complex than the original.

Not to mention every decent weapon is shoulders or back. I don't know why the arm and spare weapons even exist.

When will the open-world meme end?

It's worth it, but you will also feel like you're going backwards.

Low cooldowns, TP gain. Good for trying to spam for cockpit mode in overdrive.

Currently playing through it now, the ground combat is actually more advanced than x but the side quest system is utter trash and you will spend ages on the wiki, all in all a pretty fun game and the main story is way better than x

Not soon enough. we could have had the real Xenosaga Ep 0 instead of this shit

Best video game soundtrack. I don't care how goofy some of the lyrical tracks are, they're fun as hell to listen to and thematically fitting.

>hey guys, how about let's make our protagonist have absolutely no personality, motivation, or character development at all!
I really hope this game taught Takahashi not to shove his special snowflake waifu down everyone's throats.

Jesus those animations are horrendous. I get that it's an open world game on limited hardware, but there was stuff last gen on Ps3 and 360 that was much less stiff.

Forgot the pic.

>ground combat is actually more advanced
Don't lie. If you prefer topple spam, that's fine, but X is a mechanically an improvement on Xenoblade in every single way.

She's one of the worst lead characters I've ever seen. There is no good reason for a boring, one-dimensional shitter like Elma to overshadow characters who are actually interesting like HB, Phog, Yelv, Nagi, Hope etc.
And that doesn't just apply to her. Irina, Doug, and Gwin are flat as fuck too. Its like they were hellbent on making the main cast as generic and dull as possible.

>ground combat is more advanced than X
No. It's not. It's more varied than X. Talent Arts make everyone feel different to play, even though the name of the game is still topple locking.

On a purely mechanical level, XCX's ground combat is lightyears more advanced than XBC's due to secondary cooldowns, both melee and ranged weapons allowing for different play in TP and aggro gain, and Overdrive simply offering more than Chain Attacks from colour matching and time extension alone.

The problem here is that all of the party members in XCX play exactly the same as Cross does, even with different weapon styles, because there's no talent arts to differentiate them and soul voices are too far in the background and too RNG-based to be relied upon for consistent bonuses except by the most advanced players. If Cross couldn't learn everyone's unique arts, it might have been a little different, but then there'd be the same old "nobody ever uses Shulk" problem again.

If Soul Voices had a little more potency in general and could be relied upon more, maybe that wouldn't be such an issue.

They really shit the bed with Skells though, which legitimately are less advanced than XBC's ground combat.

The combat system is solid and has a bit of a stronger rythm to it, but less depth. The story is a million times better than the story in XCX and is one of the most compelling stories in gaming. The setting is more unique and far more interesting, and at the risk of sounding cliche, the whole thing has a really "epic" feel to it.

The trade off is that the sidequests are complete ass, and despite the world being really big, there is not much reason to explore....ever.

>this is the ultimate SKELL

The pictures don't do justice. It looks like something out of a concept car show on LSD.

In a series with Id Weltall, Xenogears, Asher, Simeon, this is what they consider ultimate.

Am I the only one who cheese most of the ch3 with shadowrunner?

...

>When you guys see my real body, you're going to be very surprised!
>If I hadn't come to Earth 30 years ago, I would've never got to meet all these people.
That was some of the most hamfisted dialogue I've ever seen.

There's actually a thematically appropriate reason for the humans to be stiff. Not so much the cat dude.

This game would've been 100 times better if it didn't have the stupid fucking Lin and Tatsu.

All they do is try and crack jokes. And it's annoying.

You know what the best part of Xenoblade Chronicles X is to me so far? The first weekend I had it, when it felt like me, Elma and one of the BLADE rookies were exploring the wastes, and things felt like we were actually helping to keep humanity afloat. I don't know what changed it other than Lin and Tatsu, maybe it was the Manon giving a sense of a buffer between humanity and the enemy faction, but it feels like the game lowered the stakes after the robot realization.

XC characters actually feel different, each one feels unique to play.
In XCX there's no reason to ever play as anyone besides your MC

...
