Decide to give OpenMW a go

>decide to give OpenMW a go
>no loading screens between cells, muh dick

>HD intro works without MCP now, neat
>install a UI mod
>load up OpenMW
>no cursor
>oh no
>works fine without Morrowind
>lose all motivation to install more mods entirely
>have to hunt down everything I installed from the UI mod and delete it to get OpenMW back to a playable state

Well, shit. Daily Morrowind thread, I guess. Anyone had any luck with this?

We JUST had a Morrowind thread.
Good thing you made a new one cause it died

Is there a single HD Morrowind port that retains ALL the original Morrowind combat mechanics?

I always steered clear of Morroblivion and Skywind and all that shit because they completely replace the engine and it's just Skyrim/Oblivion but in Vvardenvell, complete with Skyrim/Oblivion's combat style, level up system etc.

I want the original game, just with better graphics and maybe the unofficial patch for bugfixes.

Open MW is free, right? I have MW on steam already but the no loading cells thing sounds perfect.

Are the stats and weapons/magic all balanced same as the original?

So I am trying to make a spellsword ish dunmer

OpenMW is free, but requires the base game to work. Also, it's still in development and is, if history is to go by, FAR from 1.0.

Currently at 0.39, though it's in a completely playable state. If what I saw is 0.39, I'm excited to see what 1.0's going to look like.

>I want the original game, just with better graphics

That IS Morroblivion. I've played Morrowind and Morroblivion and Morroblivion is the vastly superior game if just for the improved combat, not counting everything else.

Morroblivion is ugly as fuck. Oblivion is ugly as sin.

Why would you want to preserve the single worst part of Morrowind?

;^)

:P

Oblivion's combat is legitimately worse, and I'm not saying this as a compliment to Morrowind. I'd rather the frequent missing than the annoying stagger literally every time you hit someone who blocks, while everyone on earth is a floaty hitsponge with the same bad voice actor screaming the same four, cringy lines. Just because Oblivion decided to commit to being an action game doesn't excuse it for it's extreme lack of quality. Only a genuine idiot would recommend it for its combat.

It's also annoying when people recommend Oblivion for its side quests. Only a genuine idiot would recommend it for its writing.

Why are imperials the superior race?

GOOD MORNING VIVEC

WHERE IS THE RING??

>stilt striders

Those things scared the fucking shit out of me when I first played morrowind. I was so terrified of them I would not go anywhere near them, I was CONVINCED they were a hostile monster that as invincible because hucking fireballs and shit at it didn't do anything, and if I got to close it would 1 shot me and eat me.

I ended up walking everywhere and using almsivi/divine intervention because I was so scared of those fucking stilt striders.

I've never played MW before. I heard magic is shit in this game. Is that true? If it is, are there any mods to fix it

goddamn I want to enjoy this game

So what is the essential idea behind OpenMW?

I still think they look scary as fuck and are probably the weirdest fucking things I ever saw in a fantasy game.
Pretty cool nonetheless.

They are even weirder and scarier when you consider what they do to use them as taxis.

They literally carve off a HUGE FUCKING CHUNK of their shell and insides, like at least half the things main body, and it doesn't bleed out or die.

Then they poke the exposed tissue with swords and pointy things and shit to make its legs involuntarily move.

Then just as a cherry on top, they keep the thing alive, in freakish misery and ungodly pain for every second of its pitiful life, for hundreds of years.

Holy shit, fuck the Dunmer, race war now.

does anyone have the orson welles yagrum bagarn MUAHHHH CYRODILLIC BRANDY pasta?

I don't think they mind that much

>Ayreon with Bruce Dickinson
my ultimate nigga

Daily reminder that OpenMW will NEVER EVER be finished.

If they're at all as insect-like as they seem they don't feel pain like other animals. I've stimulates a large nerve on a dissected but alive cockroach before. They don't process the information as pain.

Magic is actually overpowered, but it only really gets to that point late in the game. Up until that point it's miserable because magic doesn't regenerate and most builds are mana gimped and you need to pick specialized races and signs for mana multipliers that each have their own nerfs. It's still fun though.

I don't think they move each leg individually but its more like "move that way betty".

Maybe I missed some lore though

>webm
Granted, skeletons are weak as fuck and this wasn't a very powerful spell, but you can have decent fun with magic. Especially if you invest in the skills and get some good spells.
Just don't go pure magic user because then you will have a hard time.

Magic is pretty fucking great in Morrowind desu senpai. Its pretty weak in the beginning, but after a few hours you pick up the skill and later on you can craft your own cheesy spells.

My favourite utility I always loved to use is one that gave you crazy jumps for 1 second I forgot how its called, its been like 8 years or so now since I last played it ayy paired with a slow fall to avoid death. Makes getting around the world so much fun. You can actually see the cells loading underneath you

Did Vivec just zero-sum?

>Played Skyrim and Oblivion years ago
>Sup Forums keeps talking about Morrowind
>get it and create a Sorcerer
>finally understand how fucking retarded I was for not buying it sooner

Sup Forums always has a Morrowind thread now. I was going to make one if one had not been up already. This is my mission every time I am on Sup Forums from now until I die.

...and I'm on here every fucking day.

You and me both, sera

0.39 means "the 39th release", not "39% of the finished product".
1.0 is an arbitrary step when they've reached at least full feature parity with the default engine. It might be the 41st release, or the 42nd, or the 156th.

Currently they're about 95% there, but the last few things take some time. Especially since they would like to complete their Construction Set replacement as well, which is currently lagging behind.

In either case, Morrowind is practically fully playable with OpenMW right now. What's left is minor things like "sometimes the AI doesn't behave 100% identical to vanilla morrowind" or a bug here and there.

It's a replacement for the original Morrowind.exe.
The old engine was shit in all kinds of way. Modding, especially scripting was very limited, it was full of bugs and had shit performance. Not to mention that it only ran on Windows.

OpenMW intends to rectify all that.

Is Morroblivion worth installing? I just want to travel between Morrowind and Cyrodiil.

Daedric ruins are spoopy

you forgot the pic.

Man, lately Ruskies have been dishing out good content. yuropoors and merilards need to step up.

How does OpenMW compare to the code patch feature wise? I'd hate to lose some of those tweaks.

>morrowind
>combat mechanics
what a meme

Kek I suppose I deserved this.

Well hell mr. Tarantino

I'm just a coffee shop

Should I kill this faggot and take his notes instead of leading him all the way to Pelagiod? On the one hand he's a fellow mage and shit, so the natural answer is no, but on the other hand, he's an Altmer faggot so the natural answer is yes.

Sup Forums decides.

Its what you chose user, dont feel ashamed of it.

Everyone has something that blow all the charts.
in my case are cars and /egg/

The bitch that gave you the order is a vindictive cunt (i.e. a woman) so I would just let that nice Altmer live.

>use Strider to travel to seyda neen
>get to pelagoid in no time
not that hard

I didn't think you could fast travel with someone following you. Am I just retarded?
Yeah I generally have a warm spot in my heart for Dunmer but I don't much care for her either. I don't remember any later specifics or anything but she just seems cunty.

Are there any good sexual Morrowind mods?

Its ok man I didn't realize you could travel with people too until a few weeks ago

Dunmer bitch also tells you to kill people who deny joining so fuck her

Are there any mods I should install for Morrowind? Besides resolution

a few anime models and cute animation replacers, I think.

Batting enemies until they die like in Oblivion or Skyrim is not really a rpg combat mechanic, user.

Yeah I played the shit out of this years ago and I definitely did these mage quests with multiple characters but it's been so long I don't remember them. The Punabi and Sulipund shit where you have to kill the Greek fag for not paying denbts and then kill the other bitch if she doesn't join, that was the first hint that she was a mean bitch. I just used speechcraft on both of them, although of course I had to kill everything else in Punabi for the loot.

>2016
>not having mudcrab bro living in your house
shiggy diggy

Sup nigga? You were in an earlier Morrowind thread that I was lurking from work with this same pic. I need to try this. I'm kind of ashamed I didn't know this trick back in the day.

Command creature?

It's okay, I only found out about it 2 days ago and I've been playing it for 12 years

MGE is what you're looking for, serjo. It's a massive compilation of graphics improvement and object placement fixes. It's also lorefriendly. You will not see any trees in ashlands and whatnot and you can choose what exactly you want to install and what you don't.

Why sending it to your house, when you can send it to the Caldera Mage Guild Hall. Easy access to Mage and Propylon Index travel.

Hey that's not a bad idea.
But this is fine too. My house is in Balmora and just a stone's throw away from the mages' guild so I can be in Caldera fast enough.

I used to camp out at the Ald'ruhn guild hall a lot. Comfier than Caldera on the inside, and you've got that little bedroom that was obviously intended to be borrowed by the player. I don't think Caldera's hall has a private space.

It can make friends with Barbas, too.

What was it again, command animal? Along with fortify speed?

Command Creature + fortify speed, because it takes forever to walk.

Also water walking

I love it how use of magic in Morrowind requires actual intelligence. Not the character stat, but player intelligence. The trick is to always have the right spell for the right situation and sometimes even multiple versions of the same spell. Ran into a bandit with a steel warhammer? Summon ancestral ghost and throw frostballs at him. The ghost is immune to cold and since it is also immune to normal weapons it will serve as an excellent tank at earlier levels. Ran into something serious? Swarm it with skeletons, bonewalkers (least and greater) and watch its strength and endurance get punted into nothingness. Longer and shorter water walking for quick travel and not to waste time waiting if you want to dive for a pearl or two quickly, levitation, interventions, mark/recall and even a levitation 1p for 20 seconds on target in order to suspend a target helplessly in mid air. Or you can be a vampire cunt and just cast absorb health aoe on your crowd of minions target included and facetank everything.

>People like to complain about cliffracers
>Not making a custom targeted 1 sec levitate spell with fortify speed on them

>managed to mod OB without anything fucking up

*Not casting* a custom targeted. I fucked up.

>cheated a bit by giving him 500 speed via the console because I couldn't be bothered getting a fortify speed spell
>follows me around at sanic speed
That was both creepy and awesome as fuck.
Shame about the terrible pathfinding.

Be cautious with fortify speed. It can break the game physics and environment. If fortify speed is too high, you can go so fast that your character warp through solid matter like mountains and houses. If you use fortify speed with a fortify jump spell, you can jump so high that you will hit the skybox so hard that it will make the game crash.

God, I fucking love Morrowind.

I still play the original because I've got it on Steam, and I try to get all of my games on there when possible. I like having all of my games in one place, you know? The original Morrowind is still pretty good regardless, but then again I'm a bit biased I suppose. It was what got me into The Elder Scrolls.

>Go to OpenMW's website
>It never straight up just says what it is

Is is really this fucking hard to simply state on the homepage what your fucking mod is and does?
It's not a huge deal, except I've noticed most modders do this and it's fucking retarded. Mount and Blade mod threads in particular are the worst.
