It's a detective VN user.
And the gun doesn't tell you if someone is guilty or not, merely the value of their current PP. Just because someone has high PP doesn't mean he's the culprit you're looking for.
Also the Asian version on Xbone has English text, already played it.
Writing and story wise in general it's better than Season 2 and the movie, worse than Season 1 tho.

It's likely a visual novel.

Clearly you've never watched the show

>likely
It literally IS a VN.

HBO miniseries when?

It's sad they won't release it in EU/NA.
Fucking 50000 minimum print

Everything you said that wasn't directly game related misses the entire way the show works. The gun absolutely tells you if people are guilty or not because "guilt" is defined as having a high crime coefficient. If you have a high PP you are, by definition, guilty of something and are a criminal. That's how the entire society works in the show, that's how the guns work, that's how law enforcement works.

You may not be the one they're looking for but you're still a criminal and are still arrested or killed on the spot.

user are you fucking retarded? It's literally coming out this year in EU and US, even coming to Steam.

...what?

>won't release it in EU/NA
>literally coming out not that far from now in EU and NA

Calm your tits
I meant on xbone physical and digital.

>go to area without WiFi
>fuck shit up

Why would it come to Xbone? You can already play it in English for fucks sake. Import Asian version.
Heck, or just set your Xbone store locale to Hong Kong and buy digital.

It was more of whining about that the few weebs games on xbone will unlikely see a western release.
Just like the 360 ones

It's not though.

The gun reads your Pyscho Pass to check your crime Coefficient and determines the appropriate mode to subdue/Pop the target itself. All it really does is read your pass and then skip the waiting list to have it checked out by the Cybil/Sybil System which then releases your gun depending on the hue.

If your crime coefficient is over a certain amount you're treated as a latent criminal and you'll be either put into treatment to fix your Psycho Pass or if you're too far gone you'll be forever stuck on too high a hue (like the Enforcers) and you'll be detained.

It basically just determines the likelihood that you'll commit a crime, but you're not considered guilty because your Pass is too cloudy.

>better than Season 2 and the move, worse than Season 1 tho.

How much worse than Season 1? I could sit through Season 2 and the movie was alright but neither asks $40 of me.

Is season 1 worth watching? What about Ergo Proxy? Love me some Cyberpunk shit.

Season 2 > Season 1 though.

S1 is pretty fine.
S2 not really

Season 1 was good.
Haven't watched season 2 yet.
Ergo Proxy I hear is worth watching, but I haven't got to it yet.

Yes.

>The gun absolutely tells you if people are guilty or not because "guilt" is defined as having a high crime coefficient. Did you even watch the fucking show, you 100% missed one of the major themes in the show. The system being flawed is literally explored during the course of both seasons.

Kill yourself.

Which part of S1 > Game > Movie > S2 do you not understand?

S1 is absolutely worth watching. Everything after it isn't AWFUL, but it's certainly a step down. It is worth it for one particular reason that I don't want to spoil, though. As for Ergo Proxy, it's fine but I felt like it tried really hard to be deeper than it actually was. I remember a string of episodes in the middle somewhere being really good, though.

Nah, man. It's not as bad as people say but it definitely isn't as good without the Kogami/Makishima dynamic.

Season 1 is great.
Season 2 is literally retarded. The movie is kind of pointless too.

Ergo Proxy is absurdly slow and pretentious as all fuck, people will get booty blasted about this opinion but it's honestly a slog to get through unless you really get into it.

Yes, but if S1 is a 10, and the movie was a 4, I still wouldn't spend $40 on a 5.

I loved both seasons of PP and Ergo Proxy.

>S1
>10

>Movie
>4

Proceed to kill yourself.

CUZ I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL

Did you watch GitS? Cause that's much better Cyberpunk.

He was using a familiar rating scaling, he didn't say season 1 was a 10, he said, for comparison, if s1 was a 10 then the movie was a 4.

Nah, EP's pretty pretentious. I don't think it's bad but it reaches beyond its grasp for sure. I can't say it's slower than Texhnolyze, though. If you can make it through that then EP is a cakewalk in comparison.

I CAN ALWAYS SHOW MY EVERYTHING TO YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Not him but using that same scale and rating things seriously, the movie's like a 6 and S2 is a 5. Okay enough on their own but definitely not in the same league as S1.

Yeah the gun tells you how much of a threat the guy is so the responsibility still falls on the cop since they're liable to do anything to get around the system. If anything it makes you more inclined to to harm to people since you'll grow tired of the bitch ass gun telling you you're wrong.

10 rating scale is fucking retarded to begin with.

The classic 1-6 scale where 1 is irredeemable filth and 6 is excellence that goes further beyond is the best system.

Anyhow I'd say S1 is a 5, S2 is a 3, Movie is a 3+ and the game is a 4.

Do I need to watch Psycho Pass to play this? Or is it like Steins;Gate where the anime and the game both have the same/similar story?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh, I think S1 gets within arms length of GitS. That's a damn tall order and I won't say it's better but they're both good cyberpunk.

Nope.
Another story so it's fine from that point of you.

You need to watch at least the first season since it takes place in parallel to it.

Anyhow for all those that may want to watch it.

>Nah, man. It's not as bad as people say but it definitely isn't as good without the Kogami/Makishima dynamic.
I agree it misses that dynamic, but I found the villain the main guy, not that psycho team member more appealing. I also felt more excited for each new episode, the openings and endings just got me pumped for it. The story is rushed since it only got 11 episodes, but I found the story interesting.

I really like season 1, I just can't help but think that all the hate for season 2 is because retards couldn't understand that some shows make you wait a few episodes for the dots to join up - you know, mystery?

>Kill yourself.
The first half of Season 1 may as well be filler.

I didn't like this show at all compared to stuff like GITS or even Ergo Proxy. The setting for cyberpunk is generally normal and the main character is a shitty Mary Sue. I just couldn't get into at all like I could with most other selections in the genre like Genocyber or VOTOMS.

Thanks. I'll season 1 a shot. Glad Sup Forums will talk to me about anime when Sup Forums won't

Anyone know if it has Voices or if it's just unvoiced text? I don't care if they're Japanese or English.

From what I just read.

"Set in the first quarter of the first season of the anime, Mandatory Happiness deals with Alpha, a gripping new villain sowing chaos in a man-made island city off the coast of Japan."

What makes post-S1 PP for me is Akane. She spends all of S1 going from rookie to competency, and she spends the material after that being the gud, but not so gud as to be a Mary Sue. Gal's got a chip or two on her shoulder and it makes her all the more well realized IMO.

It's sort of an OVA since the original writer is helping to frame the story. There will definitely be bits from the original plot tied in, but it's not enough to force you to watch the show first.

But watch the show anyway, it's quite good. The mental gymnastics on display in it's writing are some of the best I've seen.

Alright I'll watch the show. I watched Episode 1 when it was on Netflix and I loved it, but then after a while I guess they got rid of it.

It's still on Netflix.

I've watched through it twice there.

Just looked. I still can't find it. Ah well I'll just download it.

Netflix is retarded with it's different regions. My country has like half as much movies as all the other ones and even worse variety.

You'd probably be better off downloading it anyway.

>The first half of Season 1 may as well be filler.
No user, the first half is what gives us the really important character introductions and early development.
You are fucking retarded.

You're better off using those specific torrents since they're 1080p high quality bluray rips AND have custom hand-made fansubs, rather than the garbage Funimation official subs.

Let's get down to the important discussion lads.

Cute Inspector or cool Enforcer, which are you going to play as?

It does have voices but not full voiceovers, only some dialogues are voiced, rest just uses "generic" voice sounds from each character.

Probably both if it leads to any differences in storyline, but cute enforcer comes first.

If there's story differences then both, if not then the dude.

>developments
You mean Akane, Kogami, Ginoza and the older enforcer, at most? Let's not pretend the cast are very developed - season 2 didn't do well when it came to side characters, but season 1 wasn't much better. I like Yayoi, but what was even with her character episode? They have had a second season and a movie, yet they sill haven't done anything with her.

Some of the start of season 1 was great, others parts weren't. They were unnecessary, just throwing the main villain in to give them a loose connection.

I'm also confused about people complaining about 'fanservice' in season 2. Is it me or are they stupid enough to forget those scenes with the psychotic girl at the school? I really like season 1, but the season 2 haters are cancerous.

WTF is wrong with her?!

Yayoi lived a hard life.

Also introduces the setting which is important.

Pretty sure it does change the story. At the very least the decisions you're able to make to make should change, given their positions.

I'm personally going Inspector first and then seeing where that leads. I think it'll be interesting trying to keep your Psycho Pass unclouded.

>Hating on the best character.

Is there an option to not have Akane and Kogami have their gay little ideological feud?
