Now that the ashes have settled, can we agree that this is the best Souls game?

Never played that one. What makes it the best?
Meme magic
will you ever stop
elaborate.
Disagree. While it has its positives it feels like it falls short of the sequel people were looking forward too.
>5 years later
>DaS9 is out
>"Can we all agree that DaS8 is the best in the series?" threads spam.
It's trash. It doesn't even work as mediocre filler until the next game, it's just agonizing to play. Shibuya and Tanimura gave it a shot and they fucked it completely.
And DaS3 falls short on fun, so I guess we'll never get a true sequel to DaS1.
It's more polished than 1, but I still like 1 more.
Best Breasts
you seem very fickle.
...
But that's not their upcoming game, Armored Souls
sorry?
Do you know what fickle means?
Too much breasts, it's just a waste
oh, used the wrong word. I meant big dumb-ass.
Fair enough.
Fuck off.
I wasn't super impressed with 3. It didn't seem as substantial as the first one. Also I experienced a lot of glitchy animations like when an enemy was down but I still got hit by it somehow and some enemies popping around as if they were lagging out. The graphics were really pretty but inconsistent so the parts that were not up to par stood out much more. I was also hoping for more area variety but the location's don't very much from any other. It could have been because they were aiming for a much higher bar of visual quality and weren't able to create as many unique environments.
Would I be happier with 2 considering these complaints?
I personally rate them
DaS > DaS2 SOTFS > DaS2 > DaS3.
DaS was the most "equilibrated" one. DaS2 had many good ideas, interesting areas and tried many new things but it had poorly-thought mechanics like SM, awful areas and insulting bosses (barring the DLC chapters, of course).
DaS3 is competent but it doesn't try anything new; it feels just like "Do you remember how awesome Dark Souls was?"
No.
"You seem very big dumb-ass."
As expected there is no elaboration for shitposting
you're big dumb-ass.
2 is even worse.
1 > 3 > 2
All 3 games are fantastic, DS3 is objectively better but would be even better if they took some of the improvements made in the second game
>Now that the ashes have settled, can we agree that this is the best Souls game?
Only if Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Bloodbone didn't exist
>BEST GAME
The one that caters most to my prefered playstyle
>WORST GAME
The ones that don't
>it feels just like "Do you remember how awesome Dark Souls was?"
I would take that over the mess known as Dark Souls 2
ds3>ds1>ds2
But I love all three of them to be honest
>f they took some of the improvements made in the second game
if there were any
You can consume multiple souls at once. Isn't that awesome?
Bonfire teleporting available from the start
Power stance
Fists being not only viable but actually lethal
Unusual covenants like the bells or the champions
Hexes
Losing chunks of health every time you died (I know that comes from Demon's) down to 50%
Bonfire ascetics
NG+ having different enemies
Being able to reset your character's stats
Being able to cast magic / miracles from certain melee weapons
Having healing alternatives to the estus (to be fair lifegems were way too cheap to buy and spam)
Being able to skip entire chunks of the game if you engaged in enough jolly co-op
Being able to cut yourself from online without disconnecting your internet
Many weapon infusions
Maybe I'm missing a few
>Bonfire teleporting available from the start
>Losing chunks of health every time you died
>Having healing alternatives to the estus
These are objectively bad.
>Being able to cast magic / miracles from certain melee weapons
that was a thing in Dark Souls 2?
>Being able to skip entire chunks of the game if you engaged in enough jolly co-op
how was this possible?
I can see disliking the health loss or the lifegems, but being forced to walk from one place to the other was the fucking worst. I will never understand why Sup Forums defends this particular aspect so vehemently.
If you accumulated enough SM you could go directly to Drangleic castle without obtaining all the four souls of a great one.
>Bonfire teleporting available from the start
>Being able to reset your character's stats
>Being able to cast magic / miracles from certain melee weapons
(Heysel's Pick)
>Being able to cut yourself from online without disconnecting your internet
These were included.
No amount of DLC could save that game from being the worst of all the Soulsbourne games.
>If you accumulated enough SM you could go directly to Drangleic castle without obtaining all the four souls of a great one
I found this to be a lie because I could not bypass that gate, even on NG++
For you
2 has more variation, but literally no continuity. The graphics are even more inconsistent, and it had its share of glitches when it came out. There is a larger level of grandeur in 3 than 2 (all though both fail in comparison to 1)
>preferred play style
How is the game with the better continuity, story, level AND world design have to do with play style?
Maybe you didn't have enough SM. It's 1.2 million for NG, increasing by every NG+ iteration.
I remember that when I passed the gate and you find the herald in that road before those elephant knight assholes she tells you that your soul is weak, you aren't ready bla bla bla.
>can we agree that this is the best Souls game?
I refuse to believe people can actually think this
It wasn't about SM. You just had to collect 1 million souls from that current playthrough. I think it increased by a mil each playthrough as well, so NG+ took 2 mill, NG++ took 3 mill, etc.
>you will le die again and again xDDd
>wlecome to dork sauce :::DD
bonfire teleporting was just a crutch for bad world design
You can have the best world design in the world, having to walk five or six entire areas any time you want to buy / sell anything or reinforce your weapon is tiresome as fuck. Immersion be damned.
best invading pvp
this new pvp system forces me to meta so i can 1 hit kill gank squads
i miss invading in DS2 with a regular build that i created and having a nice 1v1 session with the host, also magic was fun in ds2 pvp
My thoughts exactly, although I never played original ds2.
I don't think you're even more than 2 locations away from a blacksmith before teleporting becomes a thing lol
Demon's = Dark Souls 1 > Bloodborne > Dark Souls 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dark Souls 2
But that's exactly what good world design gets rid of. Because of well thought out shortcuts DaS1 only ever forced you to run through 2 areas to get back to firelink or get to Andre. That would take 5 minutes tops. By the time the world opened up and would force you to go farther than that, you had the lord vessel and could warp. DaS2 had to have warping right away because it was basically just a bunch of straight line paths with little interconnectivity.
Wait a moment. Are you telling me that instead of going immediately to the place where I want to go and then come back to the place where I left off to continue my adventure, I just have to retread two areas I already visited?
A-ma-zing!
I know right. Don't you just prefer easy mode right from the get go even though it's completely unearned. Congratulations you're a DaS2 fan.
People have opinions. Hard to imagine, I know.
I earned them when I reached those places the first time; sorry for not wanting to waste my time.
By the way, don't talk like DaS's level design and shortcuts are anything but pic related.
