yah, whats the argument here?
Explain what's wrong with that statement
They are here, abandon the thread
good nonexistant argument
>Sunshine is the best 3D Mario
Oh God, who says that?
What makes 3D World any less of a 3D Mario than Galaxy?
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck......
It's 2D mario with a Z-axis.
I mean, why isn't it exactly? It's better than Galaxy.
no it isnt, Crash is a 2D game with a Z axis. 3D world you can go out in any direction
>3D platformer
>1D/linear progression
Wow!
>I made a thread quoting someone therefore it's false
u wot
Galaxy must really suck then
>it's a two dimensional Mario
>with an extra dimension
it's completely different in terms of core design and is far more similar to NSMB games
Z axis = 3D, m8
3D world you can go in any direction, but half of the time going in any direction gets you killed because the level only goes left and right.
It's about as 3D as Super Paper Mario. The levels are exactly like that of a 2D mario game; you essentially only have two dimensions since moving towards or away from the camera doesn't make a difference.
Really goddamn stupid people who think Mario 64 is some kind of holy work
>all marios need to be boring collectathons
makes you wonder if Nintendo 64 fags were really shunned out by PS1 fags that they need to have this "every 64 game is best" mentality
3D world sold absolutely horrendously while 64 was a massive success that set the standard for 3d platformers. Looks like you're a tiny irrelevant minority, my man.
If we're really being truthful here, 3D World is more a platformer than 64 or Sunshine or Galaxy.
I get that you niggas like your collectathons and all, but 3D world has actual jumping timing platform challenge gameplay.
The problem isn't that it's not as good as Galaxy, because Galaxy sucks. I want a successor to Mario 64 and Sunshine
it only gets you killed if you're an idiot and walk off the edge
Calling 3D World a 3D Mario is like calling Dark Souls a JRPG.
>all Marios need to be boring obstacle courses with 3 Star Coins and a flagpole at the end
>Galaxy sucks
Is this a new meme?
No, 2d marios and 3d marios used to be different, 2d being classic smb styled and 3d being much more exploration based and open ended, now they both are classic smb styled linear progression with time limit and 3 useless collectibles per level
actually its not like that at all
Calling 3D world a 3d mario is like calling Dark Souls and Adventure game
All the collectibles are useless, there was never any reason to get more stars then you needed to beat the game.
an adventure game*
Bad example nigga, the "adventure" genre is one of the broadest and least defined of them all, which Dark Souls could easily fit into.
Yes. Nintendo fans will seriously shit on past nintendo games if it means defending neo-nintendo.
Gamecube babies.
or it means the same thing, as in the game fits into the description/genre
but the ones saying Galaxy sucks is a 64cuck
Cube kiddies
No, anybody whose first Mario game wasn't galaxy would agree that it's the worst one before 2.5D world
No. Dark Souls is an RPG made in Japan, but we don't call it a JRPG because JRPG means more than just an RPG from Japan.
3D World is a Mario game that is 3D, but we don't call it a 3D Mario game because 3D Mario means more than just a Mario game in 3D.
>but we don't call it a 3D Mario game because 3D Mario means more than just a Mario game in 3D
thats exactly why we call it a 3D mario game
>cuck
Spotted the underage
Well yeah. I enjoy both, but 3D World and Sunshine/64 scratch two very different itches.
Personally the one thing that most disappointed me about 3D World was not the gameplay(that was great), but rather the world design. Nintendo released both 3D Land and World, so I sort of expected them to mirror the GB and SNES games, with World having tons of secrets, and very varied map to go through with alternative paths. Too bad that wasn't the case.
NSMBU is the proper World Redux, too bad I can't stand the NSMB style with BWOOPS and shit.
>Worst 3D Mario
>when Sunshine and 3D Land exist
The autists that don't like story don't necessarily have to leave, but goddamn, go play with the tablet or the Lincoln Logs or something in the foyer while the grown-ups talk. Shit.
But its a mario game in 3D.
Except having fun and challenging yourself.
right. A 3d mario game
64 > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy > Sunshine > 3D World > 3D Land
>complains about useless collectibles
>b-but not this one, they are for challenge!
>despite serving the same thing
>sales = quality
>e-everyone is stupid but me!!
>I can't read hurr durr look at me type things I'm literally fucking retarded I can't read
user, I'm a different user.
We call it a 3D Mario game because it has a smaller amount of levels that you have to explore in order to find all of the stars. A 2D Mario game has a linear path with more difficult obstacles in the way, but a much easier objective to reach.
Drawing a picture on a piece of paper and then rolling the paper up doesn't make the drawing 3D.
>Implying Nintendo aren't simply get redding to make Mario 6(4-D)
3d world has warps in it just like smw.
3d world has the equivalent of 3 star roads.
Being able to warp to world 8 from 1 is useless because of the star reqs.
I know you guys are being obtuse/hipster pedantic by saying sm3dw is a 3d game, but it's not anymore true than saying yoshis island was a 2d sm64
>stages are just rectangular chunks floating in space
>no movement options, even the long jump is neutered as fuck
>goal in EVERY stage is "just fucking reach the end" with no creativity at work
>3DWfags
it's a retarded argument because it implies platformers have to be about timed jumping challenges like 2d sidescrollers while mario 64 spawned a decade long legacy of 3d platformers that were different but still very much platformers
so then galaxy 1 and 2 are 2D marios? Theyre linear as fuck
They took the bonus stages from sunshine, made the camera not free, removed the speed, verticality, advanced platforming and chained movement techniques. That isn't quality
that exact same logic applies to galaxy except it has empty planetoids floating in space as well
Super Mario 3D world is a 2D mario game presented in 3 dimensions. It's weird but it's true.
Galaxy 1 and 2 have expansive maps you visit multiple times in a row in order to comb through and find every hidden star. 3D World has a million different levels that you beat only once. I'm not saying it's a bad game. For the most part, I enjoy 2D Mario games more than 3D because they present a larger challenge. But 3D World definitely falls under the idea of a 2D Mario game with it's level design.
Galaxy has
>the cool gravity gimmick
>far more open-ended level design
>fun and originality
>far more open ended level design
HA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
3d world confuses plebs because it has levels like nesse that would fit fine in a sm galaxy 3 game
>3D world
>more open ended than Galaxy
galaxy is nowhere near as linear or limited in its objectives and movement options than 3d world
stuff like buoy base simply has no equivalent in 3d world
And Mario 64 was a revolutionary vision on platforming games showcasing how much could be done with a 3D space. 3D world was a step back to the inferior 2D games that 64 and Sunshine established themselves distant from
Please ignore the autists, it's time for their biweekly tantrum that it's not exactly the same as the game they've been playing for 20 years.
Galaxy's star system was much more flexible. Because besides that one level with the Troll Pole every end level in 3D World is fixed shit.
In Galaxy you could stick stars in crazy plaes, or do something like that one stage in Galaxy where you have to grab a shell and backtrack to open a chest with it. Plus stars can be triggered by events or NPCs.
he's right you mong
galaxy has a significant amount of levels directly inspired by the sandbox courses of 64 and sunshine, 3d world has none
sure is
more non linear and open level gameplay
64 had no challenge, and was just running around tiny floating sandbox levels over and over to get stars that should have all been obtainable without being forced out of the levels.
Galaxy never did anything like platforms floating in the middle of space
3d world's problem is specifically that it's the same as games we've been playing for 30 years you stupid cunt
>3d world has none
Savanah.
Also, why do the green stars and stamps not count? Because you don't want them to?
open ended
I haven't played a proper 3D Mario game since 2002 you slobbering cunt. You drool over every Souls game and RTS which are no different from the last
the Galaxy games have very few linear levels
where did l say galaxy didn't have linear levels
are you retarded
Because Galaxy 2 was a precurser to 3D Land and threw out the space theme and crazy planetoids for like 90% of it's levels.
Besides that section is literally based on Sunshine's secret levels which were floating shit.
Then you skipped Galaxy, Galaxy 2, 3D Land, and 3D World. That's your own fault.
All of 64 was floating shit in space or the sky.
>he seriously has these saved as Sup Forums filenames
Haha holy shit faggot, do you ever get tired of defending your bad unpopular game that no one likes? Posting cherrypicked images won't somehow make Galaxy un-sell 10 million copies
now THIS
THIS is 3d platforming excellence
>doesn't even lock you on Z axis
shit game
youtube.com
What's wrong with it?
Im copying pics off google with randomize filename enabled. Stay angry though
a flat shitty stretch of nothing with saturn level pop in is nothing like buoy base, deep dark, beachbowl etc get the fuck out
and l don't count green stars and stamps because the gameplay scenarios you have to complete to get them are copy pasted from the NSMB series, which is the entire point
>implying anybody says galaxy is good
If you like Galaxy, you'll like 3D World. Real 3D Mario fans only like Mario 64 and Sunshine
>I'll post this superior level design, that'll show them!
stay mad that Galaxy was always, and will always be, the better game
