for the same reason George Carlin didn't make tapes for Teddy Ruxpin
because walmart and target would get triggered and retail sails used to matter
fucking savage
because you bar 3/4ths of your userbase from buying it when you make such a dum dum decision
Because retail stores don't and never have.
an Ao rating essentially bars your game from being sold in a retail setting (wal-mart, target, toys r us) and even though you can usually get an Ao game published, you're essentially gimped in sales
that's why game devs always need to avoid it if they want their game to sell
minus Hatred. I'm pretty sure those devs just didn't give a shit though
AO doesn't mean kids can't buy it though.
AO literally means kids can't buy it.
M too.
because m rated games have constantly pushed the boundaries of what m rated games should be
fucking kek
>pull up Steam
>search for Hatred
>scroll down
>rated AO
Holy fucking shit, I didn't know it got an AO rating.
I knew about the edgy try-hard shit, but I thought it was rated M.
Now that you think about it, it's the same reason Manhunt 2 was censored cuz they were gonna give it an AO if they didn't lower the violence.
Damn, you learn something every day.
its been years since ive seen a rated AO game do they even make them anymore?
the last i remember playing was some whitty playstation game where there was a little gore and you could use people as shields
now we have shit like hatred that anyone can play
>do they even make them anymore?
i honestly dont see a point, unless your trying to make some hardcore edgy shit like hatred or rapelay it will most likely get an m rating
o wasn't hatred M i never bothered to get it after the threads i saw of it
They haven't though, what constitutes "pushing the boundaries"? A shitty 15 second sex scene? A couple extra swears? Very few, if any, video games have "mature content". Same goes for "boundary pushing" hollywood movies.
m rated games from the early 2000s are vastly different than m rated games today
kekd hard
Its the only game I had played with an AO rating.
It was mostly left for obscure shitty pornographic games. Manhunt actually originally got an AO rating from the ESRB and rockstar had to tone it back a little bit to get an M rating.
Early version of GTA SA are also considered AO.
Judging by your immature responses I guess you own consoles?
Because most Ao games are porn, and 99% of retailers refuse to sell porn games, thus console companies don't allow porn games proxy, thus no Ao games by more proxy.
BTFOO
>assmad consolefag
Couldn't be any more obvious could you?
Because video games aren't for people who are actually mentally adults.
How strange
Did Hatred have a retail release?
If not, why did they bother getting rated by the ESRB? There are plenty of unrated releases on steam, I don't think its a requirement.
Adults made these responses, think how sad that is for a second
Stop devolving into platform war bullshit you twats
>the last i remember playing was some whitty playstation game where there was a little gore and you could use people as shields
There is no such game listed on wikipedia, you may be remembering incorrectly
One of my coworkers that's 55 with a family goes on and on about his ps4
no, you're right. Steam actually doesn't require an age rating, and it's only policy on games really is no porn games (unless you let players patch it in manually)
Hatred devs purposefully sent their game to ESRB because they really wanted the Ao rating for publicity. Honestly it kinda worked
What makes a game like Hatred AO, yet not Fallout 3/NV/4, or DOOM, or Gears of War?
All those games have varying degrees extremely graphic gore and vulgar language. Hatred, from what I've seen, plays from a vantage point similar to GTA 1 and 2, yet games where the violence is in your face like Gears and Fallout are M and heavily marketed.
Because they can't put them in stores where people under 18 can't go. Which means every store that sells videogames.
>Seduce Me is still not on Steam
because you need to teach them a lesson
finally someone with the right answer.
>What makes a game like Hatred AO, yet not Fallout 3/NV/4, or DOOM, or Gears of War?
Why disingenuously ask a question that you damn well know the answer to?
They do. Developed don't make Ao games because retailers will not carry them.
why?
I don't ask questions I know the answer to. That's a pretty silly assumption. There's nothing about Hatred that warrants its classification above those games and I'm curious as to why. If you don't have an answer, don't reply.
see
you mean like you're doing right now?
Who knows, the ESRB description doesn't say anything unusual
It's likely because instead of being a game where you have the CAPABILITY of massacring random innocent people, it is the ONLY GOAL of the game. I don't think the ESRB has a tag seperating "indiscriminate violence" as opposed to "purposeful violence", but I would assume this would be the distinction made.
Makes me wonder what their thoughts would be on a game that has some kind of twist where it turns out the seemingly innocent people you've been killing were all baby killers or something.
I personally don't know the answer and I don't assume that poster does either. If you know it, please share.
>NO U
but that's false.
Thats pretty much it. AO is the kiss of death rating.
Think about all those copies of San Andreas that got pulled off the shelves.
How, i didn't mock any platform just said cut it with the memery
why would a violent game get an AO rating?
also, I thought devs licensed to use esrb rating and rated their own games.
Retailers wouldn't carry most weeb games now but devs still make them
you singled out pc users. yet you didn't respond to the posts they were responding to.
I get the comparison, but he did narrate Thomas the Tank Engine.
>kinda worked
It worked wonderfully. It was a shitty indie shooter that no one would've bought if it hadn't been plastered on every digital news feed in existence.
>also, I thought devs licensed to use esrb rating and rated their own games.
What? No, what would be the point of that?
Remember that Manhunt 2 got an AO rating and Rockstar did not want that.
is Hatred good?
sometimes that does happen. I guess it's like buying a restaurant in a fast food franchise. you're free to do what you want as long as you stay within basic guidelines. like if you bought a mcdonald's you cant just start selling hot dogs, but you can do whatever within certain restraints.
Yes it's GOTY 2015.
Buy a copy for yourself and every one of your family members and friends.
It's fun for everyone and everyone should play this game.
Enjoy!
Like the other user said its probably because the objective of the game is to murder innocent people. The only other game that I can remember that had anything like that was Modern Warfare 2 but I'm pretty sure they got around it by making it so you dont actually have to kill anyone. Even so a bunch of other countries censored that part of the game
>pic related, the only AO game I have played.
I bought all the Leisure Suit Larry games on GOG. They have the uncut version of magna on the store. The only difference between the censored version is that that the uncut version doesn't censor out the pussy while the one released for Xbox and ps2 for North America puts a giant CENSORED label right over the muff. On a side note, I actually really liked this game even though the gameplay was shit. I thought it was charming and probably had the best collectibles in a video game. However, it ain't no Larry 7.
Fucking rekt mate.
>he doesn't know
explain carmageddon
I fucking 100,000% guarantee we'll see an AO game on PSVR.
hes probably talking about his pacemaker
...
Consoles are, genuinely, marketing at under 18's whose irresponsible parents will be tear-pressured into buying GTA and COD under tantrum duress.
>I WANT GTA VEEEEEEEEEE
>I WANT GTA EYE VEEEEEEEEEE
>I WANT GTA VEE EYEEEEEEEEEE
who is she?
>M
>17 and up
>AO
>18 and up
What's the fucking difference?
I hate how tits are more offense than beating some guy to death while strangling him with a garbage bag.
Given everything I have seen and heard about Zero Time Dilemma, it looks like it should be AO. Since Uchikoshi said he isn't pulling his punches this time, I don't see how he can deliver without the game being rated AO. Afterall, you get to kill a fucking kid who won't stop bullshitting you.
who cares the European rating system is superior anyways
