RIP
1962-2019

Are you prepared yet?

Reminder that Gabe was still fairly skinny when Half-Life was released.
I guess success really does make some people fat.

Do you think Gaben would quit gaming if he peered into the future and saw the monster he'd turn into?

I stopped caring when he cancelled HL3.

Yeah it's ok

He hasn't done anything of significance in the last decade. Who gives a fuck

He hasn't done anything of significance*

Hi. It's me, Gabe.
Why would we make a good game for you little cucks when we're making so much money off of microtransactions in competitive games like Dota 2 and CS:GO? It's what the consumers want! Keep buying skins it took us three minutes to make.

I am. After Stan Lee took Muhammad Ali's and Prince's soul to sustain himself he will need to feed again at some point.
His reign will never stop. He will absorb us all and become what the simple minded refer to as God.

Isnt wealth as much as stress and aging.

most of you autists will fall for the high test meme, marry a thick girl who becomes fat in 1 year, and become fat yourselves because your spouse is fat. Dont bully gaben.

Also, valve is private. This isnt like EA or blizzard. Gaben really is the man running the show.

>muhammed ali
>prince
>he thinks gaben follows
Nice one. Say goodbye to Morgan Freeman!

you mean a billionaire? no.

>there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of fans who have died waiting for half-life 3

Who will die first, Stan Lee or Hirohiki Araki?

I'm fucking certain.

>Gaben might die before HL2:EP3 is released

Wouldn't give two shits. I doubt at this stage he even has much to do with the company.

Steam is fucking shit now anyway.

>tfw gabe doesn't interact with the community anymore because he realize how retarded we all are
come back big papi

He's gone to the dark side so it's okay

...

well he's clearly not out of touch when valve is more successful than ever before, if that's what you're implying

Newell hasn't been feeling very well lately. Apparently he's dealing with some serious prostate issues or something, and upper management has essentially been running valve for like a year. He's supposed to make an appearance at TI6 in august, but that's about it.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he retires with his billions of dollars and hands valve to eric wolfpaw

What's the last game valves released?

dotka.

how is that relevant? they don't need to release games to reach some magical status of "in touch". if they're making money, they're clearly already there.

>no source
I bet your dad works at Nintendo too.

Not the same user, just wait for my response.

In my eyes? Portal 2.

The game called "Testing Your Patience". It's very popular with its targeted demographic.

>Keep buying skins it took us three minutes to make.
>us

Its your community making the skins, Gaben.

Success in my eyes isn't about making money but making good games.
But realistically it's the opposite

>needing sources
90% of bait threads don't have sources

I dont give a fuck, another corporage stooge gone, good riddance

>Gabe Newell: “pissing off the Internet costs you a million bucks in just a couple of days”, but the internet needs “a more robust Valve-is-evil hypothesis”
>"If you are going to ascribe everything we do to being greedy, at least give us credit for being greedy long (value creation) and not greedy short (screwing over customers)."
>"Think of money as information," Newell said. "The community directing money flows works for the same reason that prediction markets crush pundits."
This demonstrates that back then he didn't heard a shit from people and kept defending his position even though he didn't understand why people were complaining.
He was out of touch back then and the removal of the paid mods proves that he learned the lesson (that if you don't hear the community and piss them off you'll lose a portion of people, so you loose money money).

If this was 2007 i think i would be genuinely upset if that happened but now i wouldn't care.
Valve is dead anyways.

>we really tried
Why does this get me?

This man convinced an entire generation of PC gamers that DRM is acceptable if you dress it up in a bunch of bells and whistles.
If you supported this man and his products then you are the cancer who allowed DRM to continue to exist. You're to blame.

Could happen since John Lennon would be turning 76 this year. Fattening himself up after faking his death to pursue his new found tech industry passion, he'd have been starting his career at Microsoft soon after he was "killed". Steam might be a way for him to build a legacy that could work towards what he envisioned in his song "Imagine", the Half-Life series a subtle metaphor for living an actual "Half-Life".

Reminder he was a Micro$oft employee and never had a soul.

>corporate
>Valve is a sole proprietorship

Yes, my body is ready.

Maybe he did.

...

I don't give a shit about Valve.

They don't make games. They don't even make skins and hats anymore, they let the community do that. Valve does nothing but sell games and print money, and with the former they don't even have quality control anymore. Steam allows shitty non-games like walking sims and visual novels, fucking movies, and early access games that are either shit, never get finished, or just scams.

As long as his back-up does the exact same thing he does then I'm fine.

They're not publicly owned. Valve has maintained the most fair policies you could hope for on the PC platform. Fucking spearheading it and making shit like GFWL, Origin, and Uplay look like shit in comparison.

I would have never gone to PC gaming(in the buying, not pirating sense) if it hadn't been for Steam.

They fucking saved it. Fundamentally.

>From magic to idealism to cold hard logic

Harry Lennon Newell has had a varied life.

Reminds me of these

If it isn't intrusive, why is it bad?
