the same problem exists for gameplay centric games that are single player romps. mario comes to mind. you play 3d world once and you never touch it again, and its never discussed past its initial release month.

don't limit your statement here to cinematically focused games. its true for other categories of games as well.

Exactly my point. Uncharted games are nothing special for players who played other much better (mechanically) games. It's ok game to play through once but nothing really special. People, who are not very keen on industry or not really a gamers in general will be very impressed by Uncharted and claim it second coming of Christ for no good reason.

How is it not? It's a first-person shooter in a near-future military setting with various weapons to unlock, as well as attachment and camp unlocks for each weapon, a variety of maps and game modes and a decent single player campaign. Sounds like a pretty good example of a modern FPS to me.
