Are you sure that screenshot isn't of Morrowind?

>For the view

You think plastic water and a featureless landscape looks good?

>not using the Construction Set to build a comfy shack on top of the Jerall Mountains

>for the view

He probably toggled off grass for the extra fps.

Back in 2008 on my Geforce 7300gt, turning off grass increased my fps from 20 to 40.

Currently I've been using the enchanted tent mod. I'm enjoying it so far, especially since I don't fast travel. It's cool riding into town, setting up a tent, and then hanging out there for a few days while I do quests and get to know the city.

It's from the image search.

Whats with all the Oblivion threads lately? Is Bethesda planning a re-release?

>Oblivion looked this bad

I still clearly remember it being absolutely stunning the first time I played it. Walking through the forest with deer frollicking around

Is the waterfront shack any good? With the soundtrack from Oblivion, just about any part of it seems so comfy.

anvil house best house

>What are adjustable graphics settings
OP's pic was taken from Google, it's on the medium-sized texture quality with all sliders pushed to minimal/low/none

morrowind has more detail than that

>Want to play oblivion again

Fucking Sup Forums

Every fucking time with every game.

stop modding, start playing

The torch drop mod paired with realistic lighting makes dungeon fights so much more engaging.

Losing your last torch to a deep puddle during a fight with spooky skeletons has never been this spooky.

>install ship mod
>try to dock at the Imperial City waterfront district
>can't even get there without clippin into everything, all the bridges are too low, the water too shallow and rivers too narrow

Goddamnit bethesda

Except the view distance there isn't much difference, is there?

While the game has it's flaws, there are two things that truly upset me about Oblivion:

1) It was made with consoles in mind, so it by default has a hiddeous UI that one needs to install Darnified to rid themselves of

2) It's poorly optimized. Having a beastly rig will not protect you from frame drops or performance issues, which I guess may as well be attributed to #1.

how did I not know about this mod? I need to stop fapping and get the good subtle comfy immersion mods

I know that feeling all too well, man.

There are quite a few but in the webm I'm using drop lit torches obse.

You need to.

But you won't.

Also, speaking of cozy, there's this summonable cabin that I don't really use but like to keep installed anyways. Something about how compact it is really makes me like it.

Oblivion is so much better than skyrim, I mean even the thief quest line? SERIOUSLY COME ON

>That first time you played Oblivion

What was your first character? It was my first ES game and I thought Argonians seemed pretty cool so I made an Argonian with a focus on heavy armors and melee. (Not a furry...scalie...whatever. I promise.) Never realized how much I missed the disease/poison resistance and underwater breathing until I made further non-argonians. I remember fucking up and making my character have an underbite though.

Small houses are the best houses

does such a thing exist for skyrim?

closest thing I can find is

nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41902/?

A damn good questline. I really like the fact that the game can be played without having to rely on quest markers.

The journal system in Skyrim gives absolutely no information, it's just "Find DickBucker Cave" and expects you to follow an arrow to get there.

Played a medium-light armor Dunmer with shortsword and bow. But I think I finished the main quest with a human warrior.

I played an Argonian and became a vampire, didn't figure out the way to cure it so I went the entire game annoyed as fuck.

just looks like console oblivion to me

an Imperial stealth archer

Not that I know of, but that does look pretty cozy as well.

These Webm makes me want to play this game

I think we can all relate to having an ugly ass character. I made my character in Mass Effect look like a retarded Asian version of myself.

THREE GAMES.
THREE GAMES I stuck with my retarded Asian doppelganger.

Anyways, my first time playing Oblivion I was clueless, I picked a Nord and distributed my stats allover the fucking place.

>he didnt do the first db quest and keep the ship for homself

Argonians are literally the only class I made in consoleblivion.
Fun shit with your friends over the weekend taking turns. Shit was truly magical.
Now I play the game of modding and testing for ten hours then losing interest.
;-;

You can do that?

I think that happened to me. But I didn't even know you could become one. I remember waiting outside and when the wait was done, I'd instantly die. Thought my game was glitched and played for a couple days without knowing why I'd randomly take damage or why I looked like dogshit. Felt dumb as hell when I realized I was a vamp and the sun was kicking my ass.

you just gave me a flashback to trying to do the ghost ship quest in anvil way unprepared. So I noped out but the ghosts followed me and proceeded to murder like half the town before the guards managed to put them down with their silver swords

I think the way to get past that is to just force yourself to sit down and play.

I know personally I would sit, test my mods, and then be like "Oh now I want a mod for THIS" and then 3 hours later I have 20 new mods and haven't really played the game at all.

Just sit and go for it, keep a little list of mod ideas to focus on later.

Fucking kek.
These sorts of unintentional and random chaos is what made the game for me. I remember I was given the frenzy scroll as a part of a quest, I used it not knowing exactly what it would do and it resulted in so many innocent, good people dying.

Do it, Grand Champion!

My first was Argonian, because lizardmen are cool. As class I choose spellsword, because heavy armor, sworss and magic are cool, also the class picture was nixe.

It was fun hulking around as heavy lizard with big 2h sword and full of magic.

I will never have that fun again in any game.

Just traveling the roads from town to town was so comfy

Yep just need to wait for bodies to despawn

..

Welp, time to get on Oblivion for a sec.

>Never realized how much I missed the disease/poison resistance and underwater breathing until I made further non-argonians.
I felt the same way about Bretons and their magic resistance.

>The journal system in Skyrim gives absolutely no information, it's just "Find DickBucker Cave" and expects you to follow an arrow to get there.
Plus, the quests themselves usually have almost no story, just "I want this item. Go to [dungeon] and get it."

I need to replay Oblivion.

what mods are you using?
the timer on those cooldowns especially

Breton, swing my mighty magic dick left and kills hundreds. Swing it right and kill thousands. Jizz summons out 24/7, never get hit always in the back casting fire like a mad man.......man i miss those days

Which elder scrolls is the comfiest modded?

I made an Imperial without knowing shit about the game or its mechanics. Immediately raided the first dungeon outside the sewers and started adventuring. I think I made it to the second to last Dark Brotherhood mission somehow before realizing there's a main quest in the game. Good shit.

The HUD (and timer) is from Darnified UI. As shown in the webm it also fixes Oblivion's horrible default compass.

The minimap is from the map called Minimap - Reboot.

Skyrim with Oblivion OST. youtube.com/watch?v=Jfatj32zT9M&index=96

My vote would go to Oblivion. There's this one spot that's completely isolated and unmarked. It has no purpose to it's existence but it's one of the most coziest things I've ever seen. It's like a safe, small pond surrounded by flowers and is surrounded by mountains. It has no place marker, I downloaded a mod just so I could mark it for a teleportation spell.

Where is it? I'd like to check it out.

Is it my nostalgia or was the writing actually good?

does it have a waterfall? I think I know this spot

I picked a Redguard after reading all the race descriptions and thought them the coolest. I did make him white with the character editor, because I didn't know they were canonically black.

I'm gonna hop on in a sec and get the map location. It pretty much made me want to start exploring more.

>I did make him white with the character editor, because I didn't know they were canonically black.
lmao

...

If it's the place I'm thinking of there is a house/cave mod.

Haven't touched Oblivion in years, what ui mods you using?

Is there a mod to get rid of quest markers and still leave enough information to know where to go? There were some really good ones for Skyrim, although I don't remember them now.

Why would you need a re-release when you can mod the game to modern visuals anyway.

There's some ferny hilly forest south of Chorrol where you're just in far enough to not see anywhere but where you are, and its fucking beautiful. b̮̳̪r͖i̝̮̪͇ng̯͇͇̳s̜͙̯̖ ͈͉̠͈̳͕wa̱̼̱rm͈͎̺t̬̘̟̹h̳̱͇̜ ̭̣͎̺̣͎t̫̺͓͕o ̹ț̼͓̳ͅḥ͇̝e͉̰͎̣̪̠ ͙̯h͚ẹ͍̝̜͙̦̞a̳̩r̼̜̥̪t. ć̙͚̜̗͔a̝̪̰͝lm̹̣͖̬ ͍t͔̯̞̙̱o̶̺ ̹͚͚͚̩͜t͓̻̤͎̬̱͠h̭̳e̮̩͕̰͍̬ ̥̻̻̳m̢͙̟̞͍í̥n͉͖͙̱̟d̹̦,

That's Darnified UI paired with the minimap from Minimap - Reboot.

The journal system in Oblivion is pretty detailed, definitely detailed enough to rely on. There's a mod called Perfect Working No Quest Markers, it's a small mod but basically it makes all quest markers transparent.

I don't have a house or cave there but Cyrus from Better Cities was actually hanging around nearby.

thanks user, this makes the game much more informative

z-zalgo? I'll have to check it out.

Np man, the UI is totally customizeable as well.

NEVER SHOULD OF COME HERE

He's disabled lighting completely and turned all the other features down or completely off, so yeah, it looks around morrowind level/

I saw a mudcrab the other day Sup Forums

The first character I made in Oblivion was an Imperial. Made sense to me to make one since it was an Imperial province and all. The first I made in Morrowind was an argonian because lizardmen are fucking cool. They looked decidedly less lizard in Oblivion too and more like humans with a different head. And the argonian VA was unpleasant too.

Disgusting creatures.

Goodbye.

what the fuck bethesda?

There's a pretty good tutorial playlist on how to mod Oblivion with Mod Organizer, which is my favorite mod manager.

Speaking of mods for Oblivion, how is Nehrim? I never got around to playing it.

OBMM is better for Oblivion. Use MO for Skyrim.

I do use OBMM, but I use it through MO.
It's a lot easier that way.

Just mod it in Sambo.

I can't wait until 2021 when Sup Forums starts to defend Skyrim.

Really great, enjoyable storyline. Best part is the level progression and world though. There are two main downsides though. One is that in later areas you'll find that if your pc is a toaster it will get really taxed by the amount of environmental shit around and two is storywise the trashy fantasy really comes out in force.

Still have to finish that game. I think I'll start again since my last file corrupted.

I love the elitism in the TES community, even though everything after daggerfall has been the same awful shit.

Skyrim is objectively shit. No amount of time can fix it.
