Stores like GOG and Win10 offer alternatives, and for the most part, they're fine. There is no real reason to not buy from their stores, except in Win10's case, if you don't want Win10 on your computer.

GOG is great bug the Windows 10 store is still shit. Have you been paying attention at all since Rise of the Tomb Raider was released in January? Every AAA game released on Windows 10 is basically a crippled game, a console/mobile game. No mods (at all, no SweetFX, framerate monitors, recording devices or any other programs that hook into DX) no support for higher refresh rates or gsync/freesync, borderless windowed by default, and the download bar doesn't even have a fucking download speed. Granted they fixed the vsync issue after enough outcry but the problem with incompatibility is still there, you're playing a console game, not a PC game. It's inferior in every way to Steam, GOG and Origin.
