No. Thank Mikey Jackson for that.

Music licensing issues.

If it was ever going to, it would have already.

>touchscreen controls
good fucking lord no, forget it

Couldn't they just use remakes of the PC Version MIDIs to get past MJ's stuff and Ice Cap?

Probably. Would you really want that?

Some sacrifices have to be made.

>phone garbage
>for a fucking platformer
Holy shit, just end yourself already.

Never. Too much legal bullshit in the way.

There is nothing I want more than a SEGA 3D Classics remake of this game.

Oh well.

Genesis Sonic is a one button game so it's not that bad.

It's not even music issues, Sega is just too lazy to put their mobile division back together after their company restructure

No, it's the music issues.

If there are music issues, how have we been getting Sonic 3 and Knuckles for things like Sonic Mega Collection?

Taxman and Stealth have already prototyped it, no one from Sega has contacted them

Sonic 3 Mobile literally already exists, they just won't let Whitehead release it.

Emulation.
Tricky business, that.

See, if you release an emulated game, it doesn't count as a new instance of the game and therefore falls under all the legal rights and bylaws.

If they REMAKE it, they're using Jackson's music in a new product without compensation. Lawsuits occur.

It's coming out.

All of this Michael Jackson and "shaky relations with SEGA" stuff is just a red herring so that the hype can be even greater when it's announced.

He could have settled this before dying.

Can Nintendo legally emulate Star Fox SNES then? People are saying they can't because of Argonaut and the Super FX chip.

He was a little busy.

Busy dying.

Well somebody should tell him to stop already, he has shit that needs to be done. We need our Sonic.

Sure, I'll call up that little midget woman from Poltergeist.

She's dead too!

Oh good, she's already half-way there.

B-but... you're also dead!

Are you gonna help, or are you just gonna sit there finding fault?

>All of this Michael Jackson and "shaky relations with SEGA" stuff is just a red herring
It's been known about for literally years.

You're right.
Where do we begin?

Kel, get me a goat, 666 candles, and a bucket of pig's blood and meet me at the abandoned Wawas!

They can't because that's proprietary hardware and that game has rights co-owned by Argonaut. They could cut a deal, but they're fucking cheapskates.

Music is different.

Also: Argonaut is dead.

Listen now you're just being a pessimist.

How can they still own anything when they're dead?

No, because too many fags would rather not have it all then to have it with music from the PC version.

When companies die, sometimes the former owners buy everything up, and sometimes it just floats in legal limbo. Adds complications.

Welcome to Corporate America.
When you die, people buy up anything they can, leading to confusing rights issues.

For example: who has the rights to the SFX Chip and Arg's half of Starfox SNES? Who has the rights to Arg's contributions to Starfox 2?

Your guess is as good as mine.

being able to roll at precise moments, and input on the dpad both left and right in quick succession in order to control one's speed are both essential to playing Sonic with any remote level of skill.

Seriously it's not fucking fair. They re-released the game as a shitty rom many times but won't give us the Taxman+Stealth version. How was the music not an issue in previous releases besides the S&K PC collection?

Taxman also said he wanted to make full stages out of the competition mode zones. Can you imagine how amazingly atmospheric a full Chrome Gadget would be?

What a clusterfuck. Someday I hope we can revise these weird rules.

No, it really is the music. The original 1997 PC version had different songs, most likely because it was a port rather than just a ROM of the Genesis game. I'm guessing their contract has some stipulation that only allows the music to be used for the original Genesis version.

>skill
>sonic

M8

How can there be legal issues over MJ's music when for the longest time we couldn't even get definitive proof that he actually composed for the game?

Rich CEOs who smoke cigars and snort cocaine off the back of a hooker would never let that happen.

Maybe when Capitalism dies

You know, normally I prefer orchestrated music, but in this case, I think I'd rather have Yamaha.

Well, I take comfort in the fact that I have my Genesis still.

Just play it emulated with the Sonic 3 Complete hack.

Even the Steam version allows mods now so you can play the hack legally.

>implying you can't git gud at Sonic

I bet you still take the moving blocks path while the water rises at the end of Chemical Plant Act 2.

Sonic 3 Complete is great but the enhancements of Taxman and Stealth would be amazing. 16:9 with the original Sonic games is fantastic.
