I don't think there's anything wrong with either video. People are different.

However it's problematic (sorry that this word triggers you) that ""gamers"" need there to be ONE GAMER CONSENSUS or you riot.

Is there any chance that this is just an act or a character that this guy is playing?

I can't believe a grown-ass man would behave like this in public.

Except... These are the types of people that are supposed to review games yet talk about completely irrelevant things

We don't need one conensus, some people like TW3 others don't for valid gameplay reasons. But disliking it because there aren't enough black characters in a 13th century central european setting is just outright retarded

>someone paid to spew anti gun propaganda
vs.
>upstanding citizen with common sense

which side are you on?

I think that narrow minded idea of what a gaming journalist "should be" is bad for the community. There can be different kinds.

This is about the medium maturing.

So if I go around giving half assed opinions about polotics and waxing on about my life every time I read something, does that make me a book critic?

This whole idea that the industry and games journalism is "maturing" is accurate, but it's gone from a 13 year old thinking shit is cool and radical with a backwards cap and a skateboard to a moody, sheltered 20something that thinks it knows far more of the world than it does.

Both are immature as fuck. Only one is outright displaying ignorance.

No. Kill yourself.

Games are products and should be reviewed as products. Not as a fucking stage for a liberal tantrum about how guns are scary and lead to hurt feelsies.

Should be? They should give us the pros and cons and a balanced holistic view, and give their reasoning behind them. IGN is a textbook example of bad reviews, they just arbitrarily say that ratchet and clank or something feels lonley (wtf it's a singleplayer game what does it even mean?).

These "journalists" just want to push a political agenda and don't actually care about games as entertainment. That's not to say that games can't bring up issues, Hotline Miami is a great example of the perfect balance between commentary through its gameplay

Not to incite a different kind of debate altogether but I think there are some elements to video games that make them more than a product like a jug of milk. But I also think there can be reviews and coverage that take a more direct approach for people who like that. That's the point. Gamer diversity!

>does that make me a book critic?
Well it could I guess? Not like there's any sort of official certification. People can say what they want and then it's up to us who to listen to.

If it were true that no one appreciated the current gaming press it wouldn't exist. But it does. Hmm.

People are different, dear. The human experience is utterly subjective, even *gasp* when it comes to video games! No review(er) fits all.

I gotta love how the first five seconds really perfectly describes the intelligence of anti-gun faggots, I mean forget not knowing names and not knowing the difference between clip and magazine because this fucker is loading a god damn handle into the magazine well

>I think there are some elements to video games that make them more than a product
You're wrong. Videogames are toys.

>This is about the medium maturing.

Then why does the first guy in the video sound like an edgy 13 year-old?

"I had no idea if it was ever loaded... I never thought to ask..."

What's edgy about that? I know the word means next to nothing but you might have pushed it over into utter worthlessness.

>Gamer diversity!
>*gasp*

Its so easy to spot a tumblr faggot. Look, when I look for a game review I want a review, not a soapbox. He could be like that Christian review sites where they review the game unbiased and then have a separate thing for the things that offend them. Faggots like Ben just inject their beliefs in their review when it has no place being there.

Did you even watch the video? He claims to have taken a possibly loaded gun, point it at kids, and wonder how much pressure was necessary to pull the trigger.

That is the textbook definition of "edgy".

yeah nah m8, he's supposed to be reviewing the software and talking about the features of it and what a potential buyer can expect to find if they buy it, and instead drones on about this time he found a gun when he was a kid. There's nothing objectively wrong with holding opinions like his, but if you can't keep your fucking politics to yourself for 5 minutes to do your goddamned job and tell us about this product, then you have a shit video.

>supposed

Again with this normative shit. You can decide what you want to read but not what others get to write.

Except ben resents the fact that hes even reviewing a video game. Its his job, and he's not even reviewing it. He's going on about shit that's only tangential

>the music
Hue

>This is about the medium maturing.
Why does this mean?

There are standards for product reviews, retard.

You know, I miss print media....something like PC Gamer or Edge had a range of reviewers, you had your sports guy, your FPS guy, your RPG guy. Now it seems that gaming media types are all bland clones all eating off the same shit plate with no dissenting opinions, at least within each site. Where's the diversity there, huh?

SJWs and leftist ideology as a whole want superificial diversity (i.e. more people of "colour" and trannies and women with pink hair etc)

They don't care for intellectual diversity which is the real and positive diversity
