Never played Maplestory before, always wanted to. How do the areas work? Are they instanced or open world? If open how do they deal with kill-stealing?
I've gone back and played a lot of MMO's and noticed that very few of them had any kind of killsteal protection and more often than not you'll have the ranged characters just destroying every mob you're working on.
Secondly, how co-operative are the battles? Is it like a beat 'em up where everyone takes their own mob, or is it common for 4+ people to pile on the same tough creature?

Ahh I remember maplestory, known about it since 2007 played in 2009 lost my account then made a new one but only really have solid memories when I played it in 2011 with my new account for about a year and then stopped highest level char was like a 122 pirate with the cannon (forgot what they were called) and I made a whole bunch of chars as well but got em to ~70 at best iirc, had some good times but if I remember anything the most it has to be that fucking soundtrack it's just fantastic and I still listen to it today sometimes.

i left out some details, all bosses come with their own quirks, whether it be that you have to eliminate certain obstacles in order to damage said boss, and there will be times where you need specific classes to clear specific bosses, but as i said before, preparations and cooperation is key to fighting any boss in this version

The levels and items meant nothing. The only thing I still held love for was the map. I even got hacks from a friend, and it only made it worse. I slid around in pig beach and cried. I'm a grown man now. I never really needed to play maple again, I just needed to feel like I was back in a point of my life where all I was worried about was the next level, the next job promotion. Actually playing the game sucked ass. There's a reason the hundreds of private servers for 62 all died.
All I really need are the tunes and the memories of pig beach and the slime tree, diving down the each of the twin towers to El' nath, aqua, and the timeless realm, Kerning PQ and LMPQ. Let it go, user. Just let it go. I promise you'll be better off this way.

This. Nostaglia made me return to the game. The music made me fall in love again. But then you start to realize how much maplestory sucked back then with all the imbalances and similar things.
But even more importantly is that it is not even close to the experience all those years ago since there just isn't enough people populating all the towns. There will never be a bustling marketplace on the bottom of perion again. There will never be exciting continential boat rides again where you make friends with others in the cabin. Nostaglia truly is a curse.
