sure, if crashing is comfy then CS is perfect

CS has a crashing problem even in the latest build?

why did CoP look shit graphically compared to SoC and even CS?

Even with mods it looked worse.

Never been able to put my finger on it, but yeah, it looks worse, think it's the artstyle and starting in a very ugly area, a fucking swampy drained riverbed.

Because it was rushed.
Also, the DX11 renderer was tacked on and looks objectively worse than DX10.

>Implying CoP isn't the comfiest

How is that game "comfy"?
I find it enjoyable but "comfy" isn't a word I'd use to describe it.

the atmosphere, the lighting, being around your fellow stalkers.

You have to let yourself go into the game bro, just sit at a campfire listening to fellow stalkers play guitar

>this game was released in 2007

Looks good with Absolute Natrue

This to be quite honest
>raining
>amongst 4 or 5 other Stalkers
>strength in numbers
>bothing can get us here
>sitting around a campfire at night
>lightning in the distance
>guitar

Clear Sky was my first and has some of my fondest memories. I played through it without any patches not long after release, struggled through all the crashes and rollback and it was still a buggy pile of great. Now I must reinstall

>Clear Sky was my first
You are supposed to play SoC first.

i want to continue playing clear sky
but im so scared of those fucking bloodsuckers

You must conquer your fear and knife them in the face user

what's the best CoP mod

i-i meant call of pripyat
BUT STILL, THOSE BLOODSUCKERS AND THOSE JUMPING FUCKERS

...

how the fuck is the zone comfy
everything is trying to fucking murder you

...

My dad got it for me and I was like 15 and didn't give any shits about it until a friend was like "I heard good things, can I borrow it?"

>tfw desensitized to the horrors of the zone
I wish I was still spooked by bloodcykas but even going out at night doesn't do it for me anymore

>games like this are never made anymore

...

I've tried so many times to get into the game but just keep quitting. All I do is just admire screenshots now. Something about the aesthetic of the game. Wonder If I should just use that modding guide and give it another try.

You didn't play Fallout 4 bro?? Shits hella fuckin' epic xD

That's exactly what makes it comfy. When the world's depressing and hostile the moments of calm and safety are much more effective. Also nature I guess.

seems like i am not slav enough to enjoy fear without fear

I was kinda interested in trying out one of the stalker games, but I get scared EASILY; so I don't think I'll do it.

Why should I?

>There are no multiplayer Stalker-likes

I never played any of these games. Can you camp there and chill, snipe enemies or do they have fixed paths in other areas?

>when it starts raining

>LURK
>coming back from a long ass raid
>night time
>low on supplies
>no medkits at all, 1 bandage
>almost no ammo
>see loners near a campfire
>hang out with them slowly eating the last of my food
>listen to the guitar and inane Russian chatter for a while
>sunrise comes and they get up to walk in the direction of the bar
>stick with them and make it to safety

I'm working on this. Any unique ideas or suggestions?

Because they're fun, atmospheric games with some of the most believable worlds in video games. You can control how spooked you get too. There will be situations where the game will make you shit yourself no matter what but overall you can avoid a lot of the scary parts by only travelling during the day and avoiding dangerous areas.

...

I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy another game as much as I have this one.

Hundreds of hours later and I'm still modding and playing it.

There's some fixed stuff in some missions but just roaming around you can do whatever

I remember one time going into the gas station to take shelter from a blowout, little did I know a bloodsucker had followed me there. That's what sold me on the whole experience

...

>There will never be a sandbox post apocalyptic survival game with a functional economy where buying food and water is expensive and necessary and slow advancement doesn't just feel like a grind

Why even live?

man, pripyat seems like a nice place

I have to go eventually

>the atmosphere is simply the best in any game
>sky looks photo realistic even though the graphics are meh
>its the zone

>that rush you get when you find a bunch of rare shit and the "I'm going to be rich" light bulb goes off in your head

basically just copy stalker

STALKER was the first game that made me give a damn about atmopshere in games, because god damn, it was so comfy.

this thread's convinced me to play call of chernobyl again

thanks Sup Forums

Call of Chernobyl is a damn fine sandbox.

patch 1.4 is coming soon and it's gonna be a huge update.

CS was the most rushed STALKER game. Lots of nice ideas and great visuals, shitty performance and stability. Also some bad game design choices.

It is THE game in series that really requires all the fixes you can get. STARTER PACK is pretty good set for that.

Bigger, more open maps = less things to hide the flaws, and thus more taxing to run.

Starter Pack mods (Abs.Nature, AtmosFear...) help quite a bit.

Anyway, if there's potential rookies out there, thinking of starting this series for the first time, Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.

what a beautiful world
