>one has a "famous" team worked on
>the other has some no bodies
Jesus fuck, what a fuck up Inafune is.
Grant Kirkophe is rs exactly a nobody
Where have I heard that song before...
David Wise isn't exactly a nobody.
its almost like kickstart doesnt determine a game's quality, but rather the dev team. who would have guessed
Tell that to mighty backers :^)
>3ds as lowest spec hardware
>wii u as lowest spec hardware
Not all that surprising m8. They were going to be limited from the beginning unless the 3ds port was a separate game entirely.
Is that supposed to look good?
>>Gets kicked out of Capcom
>>uses his reputation to dupe people
>>Turns out crap
GEE, IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE CAPCOM WAS ONTO SOMETHING
Oh fuck that ending was glorious
One was in development before the kickstarter, one wasn't. Doesn't really excuse one looking like total shit though.
>We thought Infhonei was being Kojima'd by Capcom.
>But Infhonei was the Konami, and Capcom was the Kojima.

yfw you didn't back mighty number 9
lel this looks like it could be fun
but I never liked collectathons
is this game is going to be heavy on that?
It's literally Banjo-Threeie.
But they said it won't force you to find everything. You could probably just have a comfy adventure.

>Fans pay for run and shoot man, but bitch because they got a new element of 'dashing' instead of a complete ripoff
>A game makes an exact clone of an almost 20 year old game and gets praised for it
Nostalgiafags in a nutshell
I should have backed Yooka-Laylee
...
Mega Man X had dashing.
>mighty no 9 year olds on suicide watch
I don't see any four million dollar pepperoni explosions in my Yooka Laylee
It's not too late you can support it by buying it.
Yeah, because dashing is totally the only reason people shit on MN9.
It can't be the constant delays and failed promises.
>having a short dash mechanic used to go through close by enemies
>when you're equipped with a long range weapon
fundamentally flawed from the start.
What systems is it coming out for again?
If it's got a PC release I'm down
>I have read literally nothing about Yooka-Laylee
playtonic is working on the steam and Wii u releases themselves and it sounds like they hired team 17 to port the PC version to ps4/xbone
I would be very happy if I had been a Yooka backer based on that trailer, game looks like it's really coming together nicely, MN9 backers remain on suicide watch though lol.
Then looks like I'm good to go.
No PS4/Xbone/WiiU to be had.
so do we shitpost about MN9 yet or is this a shitpost free thread
delete this post fag
god damn no wonder it sounded so familiar
So how much money did you donate user? Don't feel bad. We've all been burned at least once.
holy fuck that yooka game looks tight af senpai
why have I not heard about this shit before oh my god
AND IT'S OUT FOR PC thats fucking baller
It was only in development for 3 months before the Kickstarter
When the kickstarter was running I was really sad I wouldn't be able to back it. Now, it seems the world conspired so I wouldn't even more sad when it releases.
It's worth mentioning that Yooka-Laylee, iirc, was planned to go full steam ahead, regardless of whether or not the kickstarter succeeded, and that it was basically just a way to secure extra funding, whereas MN9 was presumably ONLY going to happen with the success of the kickstarter.
That being said though, MN9 still looks like hot garbage and if Yooka-Laylee turns out half as good as Banjo-Kazooie I'll be pleased as all hell.
Agreed, I am one excited Yooka backer.
Christ, this game looks fucking beautiful.
Thank you Con Man.
>tfw I nearly fell for the meme but was collected enough to not be driven by hype
>clearly marketed toward children
>Deep Silver
Of course nobody here has reason to like it.
Banjo Laylee:
>shameless ripoff of Mandolin-Flutey for the Playstation 1
>shameless nostalgia pandering
>shamelessly marketing what should be a children's game toward hopeless adults (no kids are going to play this, let's be honest)
>shamelessly shameful attempt at making a game
Can't we all just play Overwatch and forget about this KS garbage?
towards the end, it even sounds like psychonauts. this is awesome on so many levels
user, I was a stalwart defender of MN9 until last August, where they announced that the game would be delayed again for "online issues" for an unknown period of time, only AFTER it was 100% apparent that the one of the two kickstarters for Red Ash was going to fail- not that it mattered because they had a literally who Chinese company set to fund them anyway.
I dealt with the weird looking 3D, the mechanical changes, the apparent inclusion of actual people's dumb fucking faces in this cartoon universe, the smear campaign the game faced in response to the total non-issue that was Dina, and every other bit of bad news the game encountered up to that point.
Which game?
Yooka-Laylee, obviously.
Who the fuck thinks Mighty Blunder 9 looks good except for their kickstarter backers on denial?
The people who said it was a failure on the graphics alone were merely memers trashing on the game. Not saying the game wasn't a major disappointment, but in reality the graphics were merely just the cherry on top.
To those who actually backed this project were mostly complaining about the dash mechanic and half of those complaints were mainly due to the fact the mechanic simply being there instead of it being a Megaman clone.
Then you have this game that's literally Banjo Kaziooe with extra levels and will probably use the embarrassing failure of Mighty No. 9 to shill the idea that when a company starts to lose interest in their franchise, then future developers will believe that said franchise's idea is pretty much up for grabs.
So basically in the future developers will simply play it safe instead of risking it by bringing something completely new to the table. After all, there's so many rich nostalgiafags to market off of with all these Kickstarters.
It looks okay for what it is. Keep in mind this game was made by Deep Silver, a truly garbage company. What modern side scrollers have top of the line graphics anyway?
>backed both
>and Bloodstained
>and Shantae
I have issues. I think 3 out of 4 will be good though.
Stay mad, MN9 apologist
Fuck off, Con Man. Don't you have a shitty game to finish?
Where the fuck did people complain about the dash?
Megaman X had a fucking dash.
Actually the game is only being published by Deep Silver which is still atrocious considering what they've done. The real people you want to blame for the game looking and playing like shit is Comcept which has Keiji Inafune as the founder of all things.
>So basically in the future developers will simply play it safe instead of risking it by bringing something completely new to the table.
God, what a horrible future. Can you imagine living in a world like this, where corporate executives will fight against new idea in video games to hash out the same old shit because it sold in the past and will sell again?
Thank goodness we don't live in that dystopian nightmare.
you must be delusional to think any human being would prefer mn9 over yooka
Actually again, I'm pretty sure Comcept are just "the idea guys". Like, the company is the corporate version of the idea guy, who then farms out the ideas to actual developers, in this case, Inti Creates.
As much as I love Inti, it probably wasn't a good idea to make them work with an engine they weren't familiar with, especially for a project of MN9's size.
>published by Deep Silver
Wait, what? Wasn't the point of Kickstarter to not have a publisher?
Mighty No. 9:
I hope Inti Creates just forgets this whole thing ever happened and moves on to improving on their other, good games
Yooka-Laylee:
So fucking hyped, even if the game turns out to be mediocre somewhere down the line at least we have great visuals and music to go by that the people working on the game love doing it.
The dashing isn't inherently the problem. It's the fact that the level design is mostly corridors and rows of enemies to emphasize when they should've taken cues from MMX's level design.
Also fuck them for scrapping the ability to steal powers and weapons from a variety of enemies. Even MMZ4 had that shit years ago
They were basically going to work for themselves, with no salaries at all and hope for the best.
The kickstarter allowed them to not starve while making the game, hire more people and actually expand their office into an actual small-scale studio so they don't have to work in a small cubicle. And, of course, add extra shit to the game.
HAHA
I bet that looks like a dumb asshole now
>Inti Creates forgetting about this
Not a chance
>implying unique ideas have never come out of a kickstarter

>2 banjo games and people wanting a third one after 15 years is a bad thing
>compared to over 20 fucking megaman games
Here's where you should draw the line, retard.
>Deep Silver made a trailer so bad it pissed Inti Creates off
Great job, guys
Dude, I know you backed MN9, trusted Inafune and all, but it's time to let it go and admit it's shit.
Remember, they published Ride to Hell Retribution
Not explicitly, at least in this case.
I think the main reason they took up Deep Silver's offer to publish is because the second or third funding drive failed, and they wanted more money to put more shit in.
Shantae HGH just recently announced they're getting published by Xseed.
Jewnafune/Comcept demanded Inti Creates to get the game running on literally everything with all features, including the fucking 3DS. No wonder it looks like shit.
Yooka-Laylee's looking good.
Also it looks like a game that's actually WIP. That's how games are supposed to look when they're in-development, with placeholder animations and stuff. I don't want to see fucking collision test levels with grey checkerboards and shit, that's not a video game.
Glad they also dug out the actually good typeface. Really minor thing, but it's always bugged me how shitty the Nuts & Bolts UI looked.
When the game meets below sales expectations then I expect them to forget Mighty No.9 ever happened. For now let them shift the blame on Deep Silver for creating something so visually unappealing to the West when it's going to sell just as shitty in the East
Does anyone else think that Yooka-Laylee is lacking a bit of polish?
Don't get me wrong, the game looks great. The enviroments look nice, it's looking bounds better than the shit that is MN9, the music is fantastic (Kartos' Challenge, Jungle Challenge, and the Jungle World all sound great) the ending had me in stitches with that Banjo Kazooie banter.
But just looking at certain scenes, some of it just kind of seems off. When you run through the rings, they're gone right away. The scene where they fight against the big orange guy looked awkward. When you use your tongue, there's barely any animation to it. In the final scene before the logo, you can see a dark cave in the distance that contrasts with everything else in the distance. The levels seem a bit barren.
Am I just being nitpicky? Is this obvious stuff that's going to be fixed?
youtube.com
there IS a reason about all nostalgia shit, games nowdays are short, easy as fuck, and provides nothing to the player, the developers think of their audience as dumb people
games before were exact the opposite even for children, they taught how to earn things, how to think, to keep trying..
Trine 2 had good graphics I guess.
I'm not an apologist, I just understand that MN9 was never made for me to begin with. I don't go around critiquing Dora the Explorer and Barbie games. YL was clearly made for people like me who played 3D platformers as children, maybe just a year or two younger than me specifically, but I still fit the demographic. Its pure nostalgia and as unoriginal as you can possibly be, so it fails to appeal to me despite being aimed at my demographic.
>Point is moot because clone games are happening now
>Point is moot because my clone is better than a collection of shitty FPS clones
My point was stop with these clone games. 90s/Early-2000s gaming dominated because everyone brought something new to the table. Clones and "x inspired" games were left in the dust/became obscure.
Pic related, since this franchise became a infamous travesty after the "answer to Mario" novelty wore off.
I kinda felt like some things lacked life and depth to them aswell. With the game being digital release and several months from release, I think there will be a lot of polishing going on in the final stages, or so I hope. But yeah, things like the jingle when you collect items and such just doesn't do it for me. A lot of levels feel barren, or without that eye-catching character you'd see in a lot of the BK levels, like Clanker, or the Haunted mansion. The levels look like they're built for platforming (not a bad thing), but lack some substance outside of that.
...
I mean, it's still in development. Nothing is final.
The hell are you going on about? MN9 was made for Megaman fans, who by now are mostly adults, and even then a shitty kids game is still a shitty game. That's like saying Sonic Boom is okay because it was made for children, even if the game sucks ass.
I can't remember why I backed Mighty No 9. I've never even played a Mega Man game before.
I gave $60 to them. What the fuck was I thinking.
>yfw you backed Yooka-Laylee on top of this
>mfw my roommate literally broke the television remote because of all the teasing my cousin and I gave him for pledging $250
I have played nuclear throne, FTL and risk and can say all of them are great.
...
That's because it's literally lacking polish
As in it's not at that stage of development yet
...
I think a lot of it is placeholder animations and missing effects and those'll be added in later.
The world is probably going to be more sparse than anything from the BK games though, if only as a consequence of them being way bigger. But they. 200 individual feathers to collect. No Banjo-Tooie shortcut.
Somebody should tell the 'A Hat in Time' people to get on it considering this might be out first.
...
>That jab at Nuts n' Bolts at the end of the Yooka Laylee trailer
Gonna be honest, I was already super interested in the game but that basically sold it for me. Goddamn.
Do you guys think they'll be able to top Mr. Patches as best BK boss ever?
Yeah, I knew I was worrying a bit too much
Less than 10 posts and we get the contrarian faggot
>incompetent hacks vs developers
Daily reminder that the majority of Sup Forums are retards and backed Might No. 9. Aka neo Sup Forums
>whereas MN9 was presumably ONLY going to happen with the success of the kickstarter.
lol
The Red Ashe campaign failed and they got funded anyways. Same would happen with MN9. It's a way to get free money in pre-sales bfor a concept.
What was the tipping point that made everyone realize Inafune was a hack fraud? I'm not a Mega Man fan so I don't know a whole lot about the series, but I do remember everyone jumping down Hideki Kamiya's throat for saying Inafune was a business man and not a creator. Then all of a sudden it totally turned around.
...
