This game needs to have a fucking trigger warning with it.
Holy shit.
This game needs to have a fucking trigger warning with it.
Holy shit.
...
>video games/movies have never ever scared me
>look up Subnatica the other day on youtube after seeing a thread
>this primal fear in my stomach
>feel like im gonna throw up
I want to play this. I need to feel this feeling
So are they gonna add more creatures after release? The game needs more creature variety.
>early access
>No harpoons/spearguns
Game is fucking shit.
It's basically a fucking walking simulator.
Boring fucking base building that's completely pointless.
Poor creature variety. And on top of that they thought it would be wise to cut a bunch of creatures like the rock puncher.
Removing terraforming for no reason what's so ever.
Tons of creatures are just scenery.
Waiting for it to leave early access.
I had/have a fear of video game water, and I kind of want to torture myself/get over my fear. But.
You know.
EARLY. ACCESS.
Same thing preventing me from getting slime rancher.
Are they gonna keep updating it after launch? Are they ever going to implement that Arctic biome?
They talk about implementing stuff like the Rock Puncher even if it doesn't hit the final release date so I assume so.
>rock puncher
It's not getting added though. It was cut.
They said they were interested in re-adding it without terraforming elements.
It's not going to be as unique, but it might be added at some point.
Nope.
I see.
Then is the roadmap the only information we know about the future of the game?
To you and all the others worried about it being early access. They've kept updating it consistently and the games really grown from the when I first bought it. That said, it's always possible for shit to go south. Personally I enjoy the game, though it gets tiresome restarting every couple of updates.
Why is this game being shilled so hard right now? Did it get a major update?
When the fuck are they adding the warper, rock puncher, sea dragon, exo-suit, lava zone and lost river?
They literally take like a year to release a single creature.
half those are already in the game now
Where the fuck is the cyclops propulsion systems. Is it not near the other two pieces by the crash/mushrooms?
You can already use the exosuit mate. Experimental mode lets you fuck around with tons of stuff that's not fully implemented. They tend to do updates that are almost nonlinear in the nature mostly because certain things seem to be giving them trouble. I'm guessing mostly enemy AI tends to be it since they're trying to make them act like they're a part of the world.
The games been in early access forever and is brought up in deep sea threads occasionally, however the new update finally added this bastard into the game.
>not aggressive
>biggest guy isn't some weird lovercraftian thing, it's just a sea dragon
I guess they were thinking about the number of people who would've a heartstroke if they added something too spoopy.
they removed terraforming because it was broken and ruined a lot of gameplay. There are certain areas that are supposed to be unreachable until you have certain modifications for you submersible vehicles.
Removing this feature gave players a reason to go to certain areas and obtain materials needed to proceed to lower and lower depths, and being able to see more and more cool shit.
Also the game is not about killing everything that moves, its a simulation about surviving on an ocean planet and finding resources to ultimately allow the player to communicate with other people, whether it be the people who inhabited this planet prior to the aurora crashing, or to his or her people back on their home planet.
>haha those pussys are scared of the ocean
>finally build the cyclops
>dive to 300m
>can't see shit
>switch to external cam
>beyond the barren patch of sea floor illuminated by the cyclops there is only darkness
>suddenly urge to get the fuck out
it's much scarier in-game, trust me.
Don't go to the Dunes at night.
>It's another Hugh Jeremy shilling thread
Go fuck yourself
sorry your a baby thats afraid of fake images.
butthurt lil bitch
What's the deal with Sup Forums and the fear of water?
>Hugh Jeremy
I'll agree the guy's a huge cunt but the game fills a niche many people enjoy and it merits discussion even at the risk that some confused children get upset over 'shilling'.
this book was good as fuck, my dude.
Can't speak for them but low visibility plus the possibility of being ambushed from literally any direction by something bigger and stronger than you can get pretty tense
>Walking simulator
>Under water
The fuck you talkin bout pham
For many it's fear of the unknown, which is pretty common.
Though I will admit Sup Forums does seem to house a lot of people, myself included, who become nervous with deep water.
I haven't been able to go in a swimming pool for over a decade without getting anxious.
Was there an update recently or something? Seems like alot of threads about subnautica lately. Did the finally add a way to recharge the Cyclops?.
I bet this will be good with my Vive
Yeah you can recharge batteries and powercells now.
I've always wanted to deep sea dive but haven't went through any of the training and what not, so this game looks great sadly I didn't buy into the vr trend yet.
Lol what the fuck, I can't imagine fearing a crystal clear blue pool, but murky ass lake water with shit dangling 2 feet up tickling your feet? No fucking way fuck that shit
The water moccasins being everywhere here doesn't help either
Is that thing actually in now?
I love ocean threads
Any word on full controller support?
How are you even supposed to play something in VR with a mouse and keyboard or steam controller, that would be awful
>Also the game is not about killing everything that moves
And it doesn't have to be. The fact that you can build a gravity gun, a rifle that slows down chronon particles, a fucking fire knife, or even a nuclear reactor made out of common minerals, but a simple spear fishing gun with a tethered harpoon means you're suddenly John Rambo is outrageous.
the walk along the trench floor in soma took me 3 nights to complete. that was legitimately one of the scariest moments in video games for me ever
Do they plan on letting you craft a net or is catching peepers ment to be a chore for the whole fucking game?
I still haven't gotten the early access torrents to work without crashing at the loading screen
I genuinely have some interest but I'd rather pay once I'm sure it's what I expect it to be
Can anyone vouch for it being a good game while also being a fucking spook fest?
It's not a VR only game
It can be spooky and has some "fuck fuck fuck fuck" moments but I wouldn't call it a spookfest. You have to seek out the danger yourself most of the time.
Does this game have comfy parts to contrast with the sp00k?
If it did that'd really pique my interest
GET OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT
I've definitely had some fun with it on console
It's pretty spooky especially when you explore too far out and look down and see a giant whale thing just barely visable
If you call being in a pressurized glass tube while the ocean slowly tries to crush you to death comfy then yes.
god forbid someone gets scurred seeing something spooky in the deep sea rather than a brightly colored cartoon monster
I'm not sure I would call it a good game just yet, I was nearly put off by the first hour. Plus it's not designed to be spooky
The game runs without steam so you could always abuse steam refunds to get the latest version
the shallows are pretty comfy
Basebuilding and making you own aquarium room with ivy walls. Also they just added sleeping on your bed. Also some biomes are amazing to look at. Don't know if it's what you would find comfy though.
...
>Sup Forums thinks it's scary as fuck
>Sup Forums never got to play bumper boats with the leviathans
Holy shit it was fun.
Sounds like i could actually enjoy it
I suppose that's fair. any kinds of shit i should legitimately fear of in this game (from killing to just spooks)
>The game runs without steam so you could always abuse steam refunds to get the latest version
I want to try a game before I buy it, not be a cunt. I like that and would absolutely do it, but not on a smaller company.
I remember the first thread this was posted in, possibly the best deep sea thread on Sup Forums
It's all ocean, save for one part where you're exploring a floating island research base above sea level.
The only calm part about it is swimming around the crystal clear waters in the first area, where only gasopods and faggot exploding fish are a threat. The scenery gets surreal and beautiful as you explore, but it's down at deeper depths where organisms get bigger and uglier.
Have fun.
>Have a pretty solid phobia of deep sea, enough I'm not sure I could swim in the ocean, or even in a lake at this point
>Deep sea threads, despite giving me the phobia in the first place don't really spook me, just fascinate me to hell
>Try out subnautica
>The only time I get that amazing sense of fear is when the reaper pins me, or any time he is near
Why does my phobia just not translate to games, subnautica is so fun but I want it to scare the shit out of me, I want to feel that RUSH
i dont care about the lack of guns or some dipshit dev's dumb reasons for not adding them. noguns works in this case because it keeps you part of the foodchain and makes for a more tense experience.
all i care about is did they fix basic shit yet, like the fucking stalker animations
There are these big ass things around the crashed ship I think called reapers. I had my first encounter with one of them from behind and instakilled. I was not ready for that and haven't been near the sides or back of the crash since. So I guess there can be legitimate fear of the creatures
You forgot mountain Island
DON'T FUCKING GO INSIDE
Now, where did i put the fucking dipping sauce?
>the first time you encounter a reaper leviathan
Fuckin reapers man
Are locations like this in subnautica?
Yes.
and they can lead to crazy neon mushroom forests
I got full on sweaty palms in the underwater level of spyro 2
mostly subnautica is just a farming resources and building simulator in nice warm colorful surface-level reef area
try getting a seamoth and venturing down (too) deep, and the music falls away as the terrain loads in around you with no idea what to expect, and the hull starts creaking from the pressure. that's when it gets good
How scary can it be?
Seems like a perfect youtube bait for overreacting and making idiotic noises.
...
That's exactly what I wanted
im down
that level was easy though. like come on you could do better than that.
The shark robot from 3 was fucked up though
i just looked at the wiki page. ive seen a webm of one of them attacking and it looked mean as fuck.
Can't say I like some of the creature designs in this game. Some of the animals in this look like Pokemon OCs, like stalkers and bonersharks. Reapers also look silly to the point where they don't even spook me.
Hopefully the sea dragons will ignite a primal fear once the update hits.
I put about 25 or so hours into subnautica a few months ago, after getting a seamoth and cyclops I (think) I explored all the areas that were in at the time? I still couldn't get that instinctive sense of raw fear though, I was anxious, or worried about dying to some fuckers a few times. But I just really want it to scare me, it makes it so much more fun.
The cozy aspect though, that shit was just amazing, I think I might have to go back to just build a super nice surface base attached to one of the island things.
>visit mountain zone
>hear odd sound
>look down with sub and see Reaper Leviathan about 200 meters below me stalking around
>he never looks up so just keeps going around making kind of angsty noises
I knew I'd be fucked if I went down but it was satisfying to watch him. Water is strangely clear even at big depths in mountain zone.
cyclops is easymode. i avoided that fucker for a reason.
Well his current model is inaccurate, they're going to up the size and he's supposed to be huge. They hinted there's a storyline part where you get swallowed whole by it in the exosuit and need to powerdrill your way out then fight him after
>I want to try a game before I buy it, not be a cunt.
You can always re-buy it, the refund system exists so consumers can make a
Check the place where the electric eels hang out
My favorite creature in the game by far
Fucking sick
I've played quite a while and what helped boost me up again was building bases in dangerous as fuck deep areas.
>Not aggressive
Nigga it is.
Literal fucking shill/dev confirmed
>there isn't actually a reef on its back
I hope that's just because work in progress
>300 meters
You call that deep?
You can eventually get Sea Dragon eggs and even the baby alone is so aggressive you can't house a damn thing with it. They spew fire constantly and boil the water of their tank, literally giving other fish the "cooked" status.
>Mfw it spawned in front of my Seamoth
This games needs to have a Shilling warning with it
Holy shit.
Fuck you it's a game and it's fun and at least a few people on Sup Forums remember that so we're gonna talk about it.
I dunno what to think. Its been out for like a year doing its EA stuff. I've seen a lot of threads lately but it seems odd they'd just suddenly start shilling it to hell out of the blue and nowhere near a patch.
I think its maybe cause it looks super good in VR (which I don't use). But I've had friends actually start messaging me on steam lately asking me how it looks in a headset and I dunno what to say other than "I hear its good".
Was it talked about somewhere else recently? A trade show?
>START FUCKING SHILLING JEREMY'S BILE
You fully deserve what happened to Natural Selection 2
We had a couple good threads about it recently by chance, so it generated interest.
Don't look too much into it.
>happened
UWE is still fucking up NS2 as of now.
Did they fix the pop in yet?
The game was unplayable last time I ran it. Doesn't matter how cool it is when the second you move forward there's insane pop in
It only takes one decent thread to get people talking/playing
