Well, I guess people ain't as hyped as I thought.
It looks nice, although there's still some work to be done.
Looking good
I'm hyped for wherever that industrial area is.
Oh yeah. You can really notice it when Yooka rolls into a ball. You can notice how he doesn't touch the ground and Laylee.
Still, it looks like fun.
I'll pirate it for sure
>It'll probably have car sections by then...
lol
The graphics are pretty good, but the character design is just horrendously bad.
>the snake is badly designed
Nah m8, nahhh.
I like that one of the cups at the end has a Jiggy on it
Also, I really fucking hope the entirety of the game's humor isn't just bashing Nuts & Bolts and Microsoft for shit that was essentially Rare's fault in the first place
So, what version of the game do you guys think is gonna be the best to play? PC, Xbox, or Playstation?
PC, like literally every single game
yooka sounds like hes constantly moaning and i love it more than a gay scalie should
Oh goddamit. Last think I need is a boner whenever I play this game.
Reminds me a lot of hot Grunty after she steals Tooty's beauty
Trousers is beautiful and your life sucks.
It's probably not going to matter honestly. That being said I'll probably be getting the PS4 version.
>prefer trophies over achievements
>the Wii U is pretty much dead at this point
>pretty sure the PC version will use Steam which I refuse to use
>console version will probably have a physical release at some point
Just preferences.
>Dat big fat "FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!!!" at the end
i want to be jacked off with yookas feets
Trowzer, Laylee and Capital B are pretty good. The rest are shit though, yeah.
I like the duck. It's so retarded that it loops back around into being great.
>it has an Energy-Meter of some sort
Already a shit game
I don't like the voices at all. I imagine the only reason I still like the BK/BT voices now is due to nostalgia.
Aside from that though, looking like the real successor to BK, which is great stuff. Really looking forward to this one.
Cool. Never been a Banjokazooie fan but this pretty much looks like what everyone wanted from another game. Was that really so hard? I hope those who backed it enjoy it and get their moneys worth.
Looks like kiddie shit. Get with the times, grandpa.
>they copied Banjo Kazooie completely, right down to the fucking conversation grunts and dialog boxes and shit
If I were Rare I'd sue them. Its literally a re-skin of B&K, at least it looks like it from this trailer.
Also a chameleon and bat combo is stupid next to bear & bird.
But literally every single game isn't on PC, and even then, there are games that are objectively better to play on console.
the trailer is 30FPS but uh the final game will be 60 right?
RIGHT
Haha really dude? But eggs and feathers were fine right.
So can we go ahead and add it to the "Kickstarted games that delivered" list?
Theres only like 3 or 4 on it so far.
>E3 is a week from now
>This will be the 8th time I have watched e3 with Sup Forums
>the last E3 feels like it was just a month ago
Nothing but the latest health-regen tech will do. Amen.
Pretty sure there's a few more than that. Not that the ratio is good or anything.
at least something to collect man
youtube.com
here's the trailer in 60 fps
I want to fuck Yooka.
It needs to be on a separate list of KS games that made large scale grandiose promises, aka AAA KS games. There have been lots of smaller scale successes that delivered exactly what they promised and more, but this is one of the few highly funded games that seems to be on track to deliver.
phew, thanks user. got worried there for a sec
>sue
On what fucking grounds, though?
>you guys a borrowing some of our general overarching design concepts
Then Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank would've been in trouble a long ass time ago.
>60 fps is exclusive to Europe
Damn region lock
Yea because games about collecting shit need more shit that you have to stop and collect so you can get back to collecting shit. Platformers should be about the platforming, not collecting things. A resource to limit actions is a good choice in almost any game.
It was a bad mechanic to get you to play longer in Kazooie. Even they knew it which is why in Tooie there is a box of ever ammo/feather/whatever at the entrance of the main hub so that you never really have to collect them.
you can fuck me
i want to fuck him too
Yooka-Delaylee
>falling for the Banjo Kazooie is a platformer and not a collectathon meme
K E K
Yea it's actually already been established that you can't copyright or trademark game mechanics. You can try to patent them but that's never held up in court.
Bottom line is you can only really protect characters, names, reputation (if someone is intentionally spreading lies) and likeness (to a point).
You're complaining about them fixing the issue of it being a collectathon. Now you are also implying being a collectathon is a bad thing. So you want it to still be a collectathon which you think are bad?
Go shit post somewhere else.
>there are games that are objectively better to play on console.
what does that even mean though. You can play PC games on the big screen and controller of your choosing.
No i think a collectathon is a good thing
A very good thing, which i think was one of the best elements in the B&K series
I'm hyped but I don't even wanna fuckin think about this game if we're not getting it til 20 fucking 17
>and controller of your choosing.
Not the Wii U GamePad.
For the time being.
Not saying this is relevant to the discussion. Just sayin'.
PC and wii u is made in house, xbone and PS4 are outsourced ports
Sometimes developers are cunts and phone it in for the PC port
...
Are they going to open up pre-orders again to let people get the demo in July?
>will use steam
gameskinny.com
Also I sincerely doubt any of the consoles will have physical. Luckily I opted for the physical PC release.
This is my only concern.
The energy meter means no Talon Trot exploitation for speedrunning.
Which one is Yooka and which one is Laylee?
Die in hell you f0cking faggot
Why does this game's muic reminds me a lot to banjo kazooie?
Damn, das sum gud music dere.
You mean Rare/themselves?
They were the ones who changed the direction of the third Banjo game
>implying it can't be both
Explain why an energy system is bad. It adds depth by giving the player a platforming 'puzzle' to solve to get from point A to B in a more efficient way.
I like the character designs of pretty much everyone I've seen in this game, and that's coming from someone who never liked Rare's characters.
Probably because it's the same composer intentionally doing similar music?
Reminder that Steam isn't the drm, that's steamworks and its optional. So they could have it drm free on Steam as well if they wanted.
This looks like something my son might enjoy. Definitely a good children's game. Any other recommendations like this?
An energy meter restricts the player to their movement. Remember how everyone hated exactly this feature in for example skyward sword? its shit and restricting as hell. But yes sure, if you like to only move fast or do attacks or tricks every 5 minutes, sure
How come all non-Nintendo 3D platformers are like this? You know, like Skylanders, Disney Infinity, Ratchet and Clank and this, like they just made some colorful environments without a single thought as to how to make the level design unique and interesting?
The overworld looks very nice but the character movement looks quite wonky honestly. For now you can clearly see they're from an indie game made in Unity.
But that's what you want, otherwise the game becomes too easy.
it actually improves speedrunning, forces the player to think of clever ways to get around the... world?
that last shot made it look as if it were just open world and places would probably be ability based sections locked off initially, really cool. back on topic, instead of just rolling around the entire way, now you'll want to instead jump off an enemy onto a platform then go into glide mode.. it'll be more interesting by default
It's just a streamlined version of eggs and feathers. Instead of having to collect a bunch of different resources that allow you to do lots different tasks, you collect one resource that allows you to do a lot different tasks.
>implying some mobilegame-tier energy system is good
Enjoy your microtransactions, to recharge the meter you fag
I know this is just bait but really? Immediate jumping to mobile games when stamina has a been a thing in games for fucking ever? At least put some effort into it
why not just let them do things infinitely?
That's kind of what you want. Look at SotC and I am Bread, entire games built around the energy meter that limits your ability
What an epic reply. Have this (You)
Do 60 fps even matter in a slow 3d platformer?
>Yea it's actually already been established that you can't copyright or trademark game mechanics. You can try to patent them but that's never held up in court.
Pretty sure that's false. Namco-Bandai had a lockdown on loading screen minigames for the longest time.
Wait, Team17 are involved too? That's pretty cool.
That's exactly the problem.
If we have limits, people will either
>Bypass them
>Call it shit and deal with it
>Realize that "Oh, the bar recharges at rate and we just "Talon Tap" or "Yooka Roll Tap" or whatever they'll come up with as a term to edge out more speed at the cost of less bar usage.
At the least, there's a race against a cloud and you have to Chameleon Rollout to get going. That bar wasn't increasing on checkpoint hit either, so...
>That jab at Nuts & Bolts
Nice
Your wife's son?
...That's not how framerate works
Why can't more people on Sup Forums be like you? Come fuck me in the ass right now.
Yeah, pretty much this .
If it's a good port, sure then play it on PC. But the problem is the ports are often botched and need fixing to be playable on the reccomended hardware (Quantum Break for example), or sometimes just outright broken (Arkham Knight).
>Not the Wii U GamePad
Name one game that has truly benefited from that second screen gimmick.
>Not saying this is relevant to the discussion. Just sayin'.
Oh, very well then.
The question is has there ever been a court ruling about it? It's likely that no one cares to challenge them because from what I know about past rulings these sorts of patents don't hold up unless it involves unique technology like the Kinect.
>I am bread
>Collect-a-thon with major platforming as a focus. Wide open worlds
>SotC
>Collect-a-thon with major platforming as a focus. Wide open worlds that goes beyond "I RIDE MY HORSE HERE TO CLIMB THIS THING/SCULPTURE TO CLIMB THIS THING!"
As much entertainment as I had with bread, it's still a game that forces you to rush. Speed needs + limitations = nonsense if it goes on for too long. However, levels are somewhat short in I Am Bread, so it's acceptable. The game is a gimmick from the get-go, so it's not as bad.
It'd be kind of shit if you had to play the entirety of Super Mario 64 with bars limiting how often you can jump, dash, long jump, and wall-jump, for example. That has no real place in a platformer.
Slap a bar on the transformations/EXTREME moves that'd break the game (Again, using SM64 as a reference. Flight, Metal, Invis.). Don't make the Trowzer learned moves limited...christ.
on the flip-side, maybe Laylee will call him out on this kind of crap, and we'll all get a laugh.
>inb4 he says Star Fox Zero
Not him, but I'll say the two Zelda remasters are better with the gamepad.
Sorry that you dont have money, I hope you will get a job soon :)
>this guy
Someone who gets it
I wonder if they actually will include car sections as a minigame. As disappointing as Nuts and Bolts was, it was still a decent game on its own merit. I'm sure they could pull it off.
Not sure if it ever went to court but I mean, if you have the patent you have the patent, and people who try to infringe on it WILL always lose because once a patent is approved I mean it's game over.
>E3 trailer
>released before E3
Pretty sure they were not. They worked on it, but I doubt they are the one who make the choice to remove collecting.
Glad their working on it a little more.
The floating islands still bother me, the worlds seem small and lacking context. I'd like to see the overworld and where the protagonist would be.
Some of the sound effects seem overly cheezy.
Otherwise i'm pretty hype. I don't expect this be amazing or anything, don't kid yourself; Its still a kickstarter project from a brand new studio (of veterans) on a limited budget.
Not true. Hundreds of retarded patents get approved. Whether or not it holds up when they sue people is what matters.
Like I said though, it's likely known that they hold this patent. They may have sent out cease and desist orders (which they can do even if their claim is bullshit) and that's why no one bothers especially smaller companies.
Also might be different in different regions. I live in the US.
doesn't look very interesting to me based on the trailer
looks like it's doing nothing to advance the formula or introduce something new, it's just wallowing in N64 nostalgia
Most of us leave this board when we "grow up". I still come here for E3 threads for whatever reason, even though I specifically left because of shitflinging platform war bullshit.
