>The excellent turn-based strategy game XCOM 2 will be PC exclusive no more later this year. Publisher 2K announced this morning that the game will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 on September 6. Veteran studio The Workshop is handling the port of the Firaxis game with full mod support.

Thanks for beta testing, PCfriends. Also, plz recommend some good mods.

Xcom?

More like Xcoming to Xbox amirite?

>full mod support
I wonder if they actually mean it, unlike Bethesda.

>PC exclusive comes to console months later

When did I step into backwards world?

I haven't played it yet since I've been burnt out on xcom, but this is good news for console only people.

Well.....yeah

enjoy the sloppy seconds

Stop Wasting My Time is a must.

Good for you, consoles. It's a good game.

They actually hit the 95% chance?

A Better Advent is probably the best mod in existence for the game. Adds an absolute shit ton of new enemy types.

After the big hole caused of BattleStillBorn 2K needs to refund theirselves somehow

Sorry, the mods you want require libraries that just aren't available to consoles :^)

I wanna say congrats for consolebros, but honestly it wasn't all that great. Not that it's really that bad or anything, but if you want console xcom, you're better off just dusting off the ps3 or 360 and playing Enemy Within again tbqh.

I want to fuck that snek

>I wonder if they actually mean it, unlike Bethesda.
Consoles will never see full mod support. It would require modular hardware as the hardware requirements would vary. Not to mention allowing the game content to be modified by 3rd parties instead of having a closed platform. 3rd party programs, all sorts of access for MP mods, etc.

If anyone believes full mod support is going to happen on today's definition of a console, they're retarded.

DELETE THIS

do you want to play xcom with a controller? Seems like a pain, unless you have a console friendly keyboard and mouse you can stick in?

the 2 mods that really matter are

stop wasting my time
faster avenger navigation

Just transfer the fucking libraries over. Don't you fucking try to Jew me "master" race fag.

THANKS FOR BETA TESTING PKEKS

I played it with the Steam Controller so I could be comfy in bed.

How does one even get to be that level of ugly?

Neat, i hope that this means we'll see controller support on the pc.

Won't last. Console tards won't be able to handle the risk management and will bitch about it being "too hard"

What's wrong with your face

I'll be pissed if the shitty Alien Hunters DLC is included and required for the platinum.

Does this mean they'll be adding xbox controller support on steam?

>full mod support
>there are literally no mods worth downloading
enjoy your game consolekeks

JUST TIC THE BOX BRO.

>When did I step into backwards world?
When CDPR became console focused.

Video games are dead now.

Guess I'll snakepost.

Give me a few minutes guys, I'm going to get a petition setup to prevent this from happening. Pc games are not allowed to be on consoles

The game wasn't bad but it somehow bored me away from it after maybe 20 hours of playtime, and I've not been able to make myself get back into it somehow.

PSV vesion when?

Meh why not

Why not is a fine answer.

Didn't Firaxis lose money on the XCOM 360/PS3 port? What the fuck are they thinking.

I hope consolefirends will enjoy it and become a valuable part in the modding community

Of course not. Consoles would shit themselves if people tried to mod them too far. Just imagine people asking for 16 man squads and to up the enemy count and then complaining when they get 10 fps. Nexus already knows the horror of Fallout 4's console modding, you can bet that they won't touch Xcom 2 either just because of the precedent of whining assholes and people asking for EXCLUSIVE mods.

>excellent turn-based strategy game

Maybe it means they'll actually bother to optimize it to be able to surpass 20fps

This one had a lot more hype behind it with the whole PC exclusive thing, and staggering the release like might help it out on consoles because of how much fanfare there was up until release. I doubt it though.

>with full mod support.

Protip: this bit doesn't exist in the original "article" (which is more of a short blurb).

Consolebros can hope for mods but as the FO4 console mod catastrophe has shown, the most they'd likely get is extremely gimped capabilities while also managing to piss off mod creators to the point where they're actively making mods incompatible with consoles.

Firaxis didn't have to think about anything. Their publisher gave them money to make a console port and they handed it off to a third party so they wouldn't be bogged down by irrelevant work.

It will sell like shit, 2k will be pissed they wasted money on trying to recoup losses from Battleborn and Firaxis will just shrug their shoulders and ask them when they can make the Expansion.

Glad more people get to play it, but the mod support is just going to run into the same problems Fallout 4 did, with some faggot stealing other people's mods in the name of "justice"

Did they fix the optimization or not?

2K is gonna go the way of THQ at the rate they're burning money on flops

Threadly reminder that snakes are confirmed male with venom sacs.

They will be fine once Borderlands 3 is announced at this E3 and comes out next year.

All i learned from the fallout 4 mod situation is that millennials are entitled pieces of shit

I didn't play this yet but I loved the shit out of the last XCOM. Is this game fun?

They refer them as "her's" several times throughout thr game though. The venom sac thing is true though.

...

Wowser, the PS4 sure is becoming a Steam Machine.

Star Citizen won't be far behind, I trust.

>Video games are dead because PC is dead
Here's a (you)

Nice shitpost but the viper king is literally the only male viper left in existence

And every other snek belongs to his harem

No, there is only ONE male and he actually impregnates the normal Vipers you usually see.

It can be, nothing really got worse from the last game, just different. If you liked the base building you might be disappointed that you don't have as many options this time around. I like the geoscape much more then the last game and over all the game feels smoother.

It's alright but EU/EW was better. I should really pick 2 back up, I fell off of it hard after I had a misaion failure with a full squad wipe on one of the base missions.

KING
I
N
G

>implying you aren't a millennial

Viper King is the only male in the race. The game said so itself, and even then it was a result of crazy gene science.

Is it that bad? And can't you disable it?

>and staggering the release like might help it out on consoles because of how much fanfare there was up until release. I doubt it though.
this shit only works for console games -> to PC

>Xcom 2 was exclusive to PC
>Firaxis kept saying it would be impossible on consoles
Does Firaxis not make the ports or something?
I mean one way or another 2K got the entity of Enemy Unknown on iOS and Vita

>Drumpf
Bernie cucks, and Shillary supporters are fucking ugly.

You can in PC, who knows if you will in the consoles. Though the way that you activate the stuff is from a story mission, if you don't take the mission, then the ruler aliens never show up.

I want Snek waifus but I want to fight for humanity, what do I do?

Well, the level of mod support they have on PC is impossible on consoles. The "full mod support" bit in the OP is fake.

But yes they're not handling the port(s) themselves, Firaxis itself only works on the Windows PC version while Feral handles OSX/Linux ports and The Workshop will handle the console ports.

Wait for potential mods that everyone frothed at the mouth over up to release that will never be created.

>Does Firaxis not make the ports or something?
Nope, they are handing it off to a third party, some CoD devs.

They also probably meant that it would be impossible at the fidelity they wanted. So it's probably possible if they tone a bunch of shit down. I await seeing a noticeable downgrade.

Fight for humanity and free snek from alien control.

>>Firaxis kept saying it would be impossible on consoles
Literally did not happen.
>Does Firaxis not make the ports or something?
They're outsourcing it to some noname new studio. Expect a disaster of a port.

...

I was thinking about that as well. They were so persistently saying no, that this really comes as a surprise.

The way this game is tacked together, I wouldn't be surprised when someone just stumbled over the solution to port it over. I just hope they don't butcher it completely for the consoles.

I saw a roadkill fox on the way to work this morning
sad times :(

You fight for humanity and take snake liberate snake waifus.

Is it possible to control alien unit in this game?

For PC friends who have this game. Is there anything in xcom 2 that consoles can't handle? I swear the devs were insisting it couldn't be ported.

I JUST WANT UFO DEFENSE REMASTERED

Yes, either from Mind Control or in Multi player. Every unit can be either hacked or mind controlled.

>Literally did not happen
Not that exact wording but Firaxis made a bunch of statements about the game not being on consoles

Nice reddit comic faces.

They were insisting that they couldn't port it at the level they wanted to achieve. That's all. The game doesn't seem to have anything that would make it impossible to be on consoles. They just need to down down a few effects, textures and restrict the amount of units that can be on the map at any one time.

This also means that they probably found a way around units actually being on the map in fog.

...

>Firaxis wants to put all assets into PC version
>Game comes out with some kinks
>A lot of them get fixed
>Some DLC released
>Console port announced
Sounds pretty logical really
they didn't want to make console ports so they just focused on making the game, and now the port can be made

>Game comes out with some kinks
Did it ever

Nah, it could easily run in theory. The game is not that graphically intensive, but the main performance issues stemmed from all the shit that was going on with the AI in the background iirc. My 970 got constant hiccups from that, I wonder if they fixed that up. It was one of the main reasons I dropped the game, I figured performance issues would get ironed completely out after a few months.

Which is a good thing

More people get to play games.

>successfully hack to take control of an enemy
>suddenly activate 3 extra pods after I had them all

The performance patches did eventually iron out the bugs. Even my 980ti had hiccups every once in a while and some noticeable stutter on certain actions and it's all gone now.

>>A lot of them get fixed
[citation needed]

19 out of 20 times, all the time.
Whoever started this should be stoned.

Called it the minute they said it was PC "exclusive". It was obvious they would still put it on console.

Better hope that enemy was a sectopod. I remember when I did that. First I did the "take control of a random enemy" hack from a security station. It revealed three pods, one of them was the Sectopod. I had line of sight to it and decided to go for the 45%. After that, I still had line of sight with my Psy-op, so I used dominate and got control of the Andromedon. So now I had three units, none of my guys could be seen since they were so far away and everything on the map was activated. I just let the aliens basicly kill themselves. It was hilarious.

PC gaming is officially dead.

XCOM2 was the last big-name PC exclusive and it wasn't that good

>snek grabs unit in full cover from across the map
>land hit and free them, they get back into full cover again with hunker and 2 guys on overwatch to keep her from flanking
>fucking gets by both shots and once again pulls the unit out from full cover and wraps them up for a kill squeez

Game was good but goddamn did it infuriate me sometimes

Didn't have Line of sight on the sectopod for the hack.

>Total Warhammer isn't big-name

Yeah, you will be to install whole 2 voice packs before the game will put a ram limit

>I swear the devs were insisting it couldn't be ported.
IIRC they only stated that they won´t release it with a console version because of the first game´s sales, but they never mentioned any technical reasons, and deliberately never said that it wouldn´t get a port, afaik.

And considering they changed a grand total of nothing about the game´s simplistic basic mechanics and its persisting slight awkwardness with M+KB, *despite* them claiming to concentrate on PC, the console release later on was a given, imo.

Good luck to console players, this was one of the cheapest and most bullshit filled games I've ever played without mods and cheats. Makes Enemy Unknown look completely fair and balanced.
