What is the ATLA of vidya?
In other words, what games feature an endearing story arch with excellent character development, pacing, and lore? Bonus if it's fun.
Hard mode: No mention of the shitty ATLA games
Kys mode: Comparing ATLA with Korra ever

monster girl quest
You forgot a game with a retarded ending that ruins pretty much everything.
overrated garbage that pretend to be deep while being a mediore Naruto ripoff with pokemon elements.. hm.... Probably some indie anime shit.
>mediore Naruto ripoff with pokemon elements.
At least the ride til the end was good.
I'll never be more upset about the fight with Azula though.
Okay then.
Name something that ATLA tried to do but better, baitlord.
The Azula fight was good
It showed just how effortlessly Zuko can beat Azula with his superior bending
Dude wasn't even breathing hard
I laughed. Never thought of it like that.
...
>endearing story arch with excellent character development, pacing, and lore?
Avatar is not any of that. Stop letting your 12 year old self judge things.
...
Not OP, but I watched ATLA for.the first time ever just last year and I'd generally agree with that description.
This guy gets it
The way Avatar fans try to latch onto the Naruto community is pathetic
really though monster girl quest is worth playing
at least ATLA has good animation. What does Naruto have exactly...?
I watched it 2 years ago. I'm 25 now.
I'm talking about Katara vs Azula at the end. Azula should have known about her surroundings enough so that a water bender couldn't trap her, since she lived there.
The only good part of ATLA
Psychonauts
everyone in that game is a child prodigy, just like in avatar the last airbender
you know he's right
>Excellent pacing
Did we watch the different versions of Season 3?
>First half is just twiddling thumbs waiting for invasion
>Second half is Zuko's Bizarre Adventure
>Final 4 episodes is the entire world telling Aang to do his fucking job and kill the firelord
>"lol nope energybending out my ass!"
>The last three episodes
I've seen that shit so many times it's great. I really should watch the entire series over.
Korra a shit The first few episodes were kind of cool but the rest was garbage
>Second half is Zuko's Bizarre Adventure
That's the case with every season.
I'd watch Avatar if the main protagonist wasn't a literal kid.
Same thing with Naruto, Steven Universe and pretty much every character and story driven piece of media that stars a literal child.
Then you're an idiot. Yeah, there were strings of good episodes but overall it's nowhere near as perfect as OP is trying to make it out to be.
>dirty feet
Ew
just watch the movie
GF is trash
kewl fights
bangin hoes
good doujins
good vidya
She was cracking mentally, when high levels of aggression run through your brain you stop thinking.
>first series
>aang is a complete badass who pulls off some of the most amazing feats in the entire series
>second series
>korra throws a few rocks and shit then kills the avatar cycle forever
Thanks Korra.
S2 was paced perfectly
jesus christ I didn't realize how young they sound
How is OP's description the same as perfect? It's a great show but it's by no means perfect, its themes get held back a lot by the fact it's on a kids network despite some of its subject matter needing to break out of it.
Zuko started the show as like a 13 year old
He ended up like 17 but they couldn't just kick the voice actor out
I honestly expect Azula to show up in season 3 of Korra.
Pretty disappointing honestly.
instead of korra they should have done a season about these two goofballs
What movie? The Last Airbender? I already saw it and it was garbage.
Naruto actually does have some good animation in some of the fights. Even the most well animated fights are lacking in frame counts though.
One Piece was cool
I haven't read it all though I think I stopped after that desert kingdom island
Completely agree.
wat
...
I wish sokka got more time thoughout the entire TLA, I get that hes meant to be the goofy side character, and season 3 fleshes him out a little but 90 percent of the show hes a useless piece of shit. I guess because of the shows rating he coudlnt exactly go around chopping niggas up with his sword or bludgeoning them to death. Eh
I think Luffy's actually 17 years old.
Teenage protagonists are fine in my book.
>90 percent of the show hes a useless piece of shit
That's kinda the point.
There is even an episode where he realizes that he's an useless piece of shit.
Name 1 (one) series that is better.
I actually want good recommendations of shit to watch, so knock yourself out
Dude what? he was like fifteen or sixteen at the start of the series.
Thirteen? Wtf? Azula is younger than him and was fourteen when she was introduced.
Ya and then he's gone for a single episode and nobody else can even read a fucking map
Yeah but then he becomes a meteor sword master and slices up inanimate objects
Yeah, I guess your right.
At least that comedy relief guy in Korra actually did stuff occasionally. To bad Korra was kinda wack
The Wire
>smears are bad
Is there a single ending in a video game besides ME3 thats as big of a cop-out as the Lion Turtle?
>first series
>main character is a child, but he still has to make complicated moral decisions and is interesting in how he overcomes challenges as a peaceful monk in a world devastated by war
>korra
>main character CAN'T STOP FUCKING THINGS UP BECAUSE SHE'S SO STUPID
To make this thread slightly video games, what TLA games would you like to see?
Would be cool to see something like DBZ xenoverse but you make your own bender.
The only thing memorable about Korra was cute girls and tony stark
Korra was only good for one thing. She sucks at everything else.
>I'm sorry it had to end this way, brother
>No you're not
Stone fucking cold
I love smears when they look like that and not a complete mess of scribbles. Its really cool when a videogame uses them.
First result for "Sakuga Naruto" on youtube.
youtube.com
Nothing there is even nearly as bad as THAT scene, like I said though, hardly anything in the way of smoothness for those who get off to high framerates.
My dude, have you seen that fight? It's disgusting.
>could have had Avatar: All grown up but instead got Korra
I disagree
youtube.com
>mfw azulas voice actress is a total perv on twitter
I love her. Also the voices in this video are pitched up for some reason.
I just wanted Korra to be good.
The idea of it was fine and season 3 was alright.
>Kys
Kill yourself.
First murder suicide I saw in a kids show.
the pitch is turned up to avoid copyright you fucking goofs
The first bits we learned had me stoked. Brown water tribe Avatar, 1920's Chinese influence, jazz music etc.
Then the show started. We didn't even get any insane bending displays until like the third and fourth seasons and compared to some of the shit Aang did it felt lackluster.
Class selection of 4 bender types + non bender. Set 100s of years before the events of ATLA.
Final Boss is the Avatar.
its pitched because it helps avoid copyright
he's insufferable in the beginning but as it goes on and everyone keeps telling the kid to kill a man it pays off.
I know but another user said they sounded so young.
Oh it was the part of your post saying "for some reason" I get ya then
>pokemon invented elements
I hated how Korra started with a real threat, it was a dude who could stop people bending. Like it was an interesting threat of an unknown power appearing and changing fucking everything.
Then it was all "HURR HE WAS BENDMAN ALL ALONG" and killed off my interest.
The idea of "mistake from the last generation going on to cause problems for the new generation" is generally pretty solid, but they honestly could've cut the whole bloodbender aspect of the first season out and just had Amon be a dude who could manipulate chakras.
Oh fuck. I forgot the show had those very few moments that were actually extremely good. I wish they didn't rush with introducing and rushing characters in and out of the show as much.
season 3 > season 1 > season 4 >>>> season 2
Aang's alright once you get past the first half of Season 1. Yeah, he's just a kid, but he turns out to be one of most interesting characters in the show.
Every character at the start of the show has a cardboard cutout personality, which generally turns people off. Once the show starts fleshing characters out however is when the show starts picking up.
>people didn't like the overall ending
Yeah I definitely admit the lion turtle came out of nowhere but don't tell me the ozai fight wasn't cool as fuck and the way aang defeats him wasn't great.
Korra season 2 was so shit I had to stop, are season 3 and/or 4 worth watching?
Both 3 and 4 are WAY better than season 2. 3 is probably the best.
Feel the same way. Watched Korra with my dad until the end of Season 2.
it's overrated but it's not that bad. Their problem is being made by americans funded by a children cartoon company
if they had more freedom, they could make a more detailed world without the limitation of being aimed to kids
Wakfu was a show for kids made by french guys but it's well done and never lose their focus in being a show for kids. It's epic, fun and kinda edgy sometimes.
tl;dr: ATLA is good but overrated because Sup Forums doesn't have anything else to compared it to japanese or french animation (capshit is stupid)
Also, before some shitter calls underage, my dad is 65 and died last year
I would've liked ATLA more if everyone wasn't a literal genius
Aang I would say is an exception, because he's the reincarnation of the Avatar so he would naturally be pretty good at bending, and maybe Zuko because he's a prince and would probably receive some military training, but everyone else is completely ridiculous. Toph literally invents a new form of bending at 14, Sokka basically invents aircraft at 15, Katara starts off as a shitty waterbender and then magically is able to go toe-to-toe with a waterbending master by the end of the season, then gets bloodbending, then takes out Azula, etc.
Narcos and everything made or funded by Netflix
I think the lion turtle was foreshadowed in season 2, energy bendig was the thing that came out of nowhere and even that could be argued that that is a form of chakra manipulation which aang learned from that guru.
>season 3 was the best
This
The red lotus was fucking sick.
They were just 4 dudes, but literally nothimg could stop them.
...
>Sokka basically invents aircraft at 15
Imagination. Also he didn't the mechanist took the idea and gave it form.
It's like a kid picking up a stick and talking into it and saying "Look dad, no wires!" then the dad goes on to invent telephones that don't need to be plugged in to work.
season 3 of korra is mostly regarded as the best and season 4 is better than 1 and 2. its not really story based like atla, its just got some great fight animations.
basically atla is like dragon ball, a big adventure and meaning to the characters. and korra is like dbz with villian of the week style story with great fight scenes
>They were just 4 dudes, but literally nothimg could stop them.
They had plot armor on. Tenzin takes on three of them at once and is winning until he's hit from behind. The writing had it so the good guys didn't just beat the antagonists right away and made the story extend out to fit the season length.
New avatar series when
I'm sorry user, your dad seems really cool though
I hope it's either a prequel or a total reboot
Save thread
>That Azula breakdown
Still satisfying.
Can we turn this into a good licensed game thread?
Pretty much any Star Wars game is GOAT
Your bias totally has nothing to do with the fact that she's a girl, right?
