She's an unfortunate scapegoat for a lot of nostalgiafag angst over XIII not living up to the older games. As a character she was typical FF but because she was the face of the XIII trilogy she's guilty by association, even though the XIII sequels were actually good.

What Trilogy? She had same screen time as the entire party in XIII, was only in for ten minutes in -2 and had her own game in returns.
XIII-2 was the best of the three

XIII-2 was mostly a major improvement over XIII but I felt LR was a better game. XIII-2's biggest issue outside of the bonkers story (which they were all guilty of) is that it's too easy.

I like the FFXIII Trilogy quite a bit.

I think people are overly harsh on the story and characters. It's like Kingdom Hearts man, you just have to enjoy it for what it is. (Like 90% of video game stories anyway)

They're enjoyable, 7.5/10 games with some fun gameplay ideas, okay story telling and solid visual direction.

They do literally no damage until you get to the last one and even that one just hits you once for massive damage and then goes back to doing fuckall. The regular enemies in Academia 500 AF were tougher than any boss in the main story.

Kingdom Hearts had more exploration than 13, it had a lot of cut scenes but that didn't take away from the game play like 13 did.
