Tekken 5 is great.
But then Dark Ressurection came and added my two eternal mains:
Lili and Dragunov.
I agree partly. I just hated that DR was PSP Exclusive, Like they could've easily ran that on the PS2.
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
...
This or Tekken 3
Tekken 7 is never getting a release date for NA and Soul Calibur is dead as fuck.
My soul still burns and I grew up on 3D fighters. Why, anons? Why is 3D fightan men games dead :(
>Tekken 7 is like two years old and still no console port
seems weird
>I just hated that DR was PSP Exclusive, Like they could've easily ran that on the PS2
Yeah but they needed to sell PSPs, which were already struggling to sell at the time.
>Yeah but they needed to sell PSPs, which were already struggling to sell at the time.
Which is a shame because everyone I knew (Australiafag btw) at the time had a PSP.
This to be honest, no fighting game will ever surpass this for me, Vampire Savior is a close second though.
Whatever happened to Virtua Fighter?
...
>tfw barely anybody remembers Pocket Fighter
It got released on PS3.
I know but I meant back when DR was new
People don't seem to like TTT2 but it's my favorite Tekken to this day. BUT, I haven't played Tekken 6 to compare.
I think Tekken is my favorite fighting game series so far. But I sorta like what I had in Skullgirls. If that game gets a sequel with JP voices option at launch then you'll bet your ass I'll get it.
Tekken 6.
Tekken 5 is great, it's funny how the series got better since the PS1 days, Tekken 3 was trash.

That OP was great.
I'M HERE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
>SoulCal died cause the directors never sticked around for more than one game
>Virtua Fighter is dead cause muh-casuals
>Tekken is starting to simplify and streamline because SoulCalibur no longer fills that role
3d fighters are dead
Is Asuka and Jin siblings?
>Kazama
Tekken is going the right direction and i've been keeping up with it and following Tekken 7 news. Tekken x Street Fighter is also coming user.
>Is Asuka and Jin siblings?
Cousins I believe.
cousins but their relationship was never really explored. Just once in Tekken 5 and then nothing. She was more of a replacement for Jun.
Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, that game was so well balanced and had an incredible amount of depth. My friends and I could spend hours playing the same matchups and always feeling like we could improve in new ways or have new mind games
Not that user but I'm glad the hate for T7 has for some reason ceased this year compared to previous year. Everywhere I was reading about is was negative. Also TxS will not hit the shelves for 2 years since officially on hold.
hey user, i had a blast training my ai fighter in that game. was an amazing and unique experience. did you?
I hated the emphasis on crush moves and the raping of side step. After Tekken 5 and DR, Tekken kept getting more and more shit. It's good they fucked off with the rage damage though.
I really like Ultra Street Fighter 4. But I also play Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, King of Fighters 13 and the Tekkens, 3 being my favorite.
Tekken already has more content than the biggest fighting game in the west so no complaints there. People did complain about Lucky Chloe but Harada knew these shitters are not even Tekken fans and shut them down. FR looks cool as fuck and Akuma looks cool.
You really have to stretch to find a complaint about this game and even then the people who do usually don't fully understand how the new mechanics work or how FR fixed things from the first T7 version.
Tekken 3
pic related
.... is what i'd like to say, but i suck dicks at it. majorly. baiken tho
so instead im gonn say tekken tag 2, main jin and kuni
Side step is good again and yeah i'm glad rage damage is gone. You can get absurd damage just from a lucky hit into a juggle whereas the rage arts are actually more risky and can be blocked and punished more easily.
Console pleb here with no arcades in my city, how does everyone like Tekken 7 so far? I'm pretty stoked by how it looks so far. I hear Shaheen is pretty OP so far though, something to do with his orbitals I think. I'm not smart about this kind of shit. I just like playing Tekken.
youtu.be
And has anyone tried out Fated Retribution yet? Looks dope af.
a sexy replacement
it's one years old retard
Soul calibur 5 user
too bad casuals dont like sticking around for online vs, even when the net code is good
they'd rather have an arcade mode with tiny tidbits of non canon story to develop their personalities or something
We have it in Australia, our scene is fantastic for Tekken. The game is great, FR is looking to really spice it up. Those of you waiting are definitely going to happy. I would go as far as saying Tekken 7 will get very popular on console release. I don't even play Street fighter anymore, just tekken 7.
It isn't even done. They're doing early access, but with arcades. They're literally selling the beta to arcades and Koreans.
He pretty much has the best hopkick in the game and is safe on a lot of stuff. Don't remember other stuff but that already makes him really good.
Man, I hope this comes to console soon. I really wanna play it so fucking bad with some guys. Akuma sounds fucking dope to play as, same with Kasumi, Chloe, and all the other new characters. And the new character outfits for everyone else look fucking amazing. Especially Bryan, Asuka, and Nina. I wish Raven was back though.
Do we have any confirmation about any balances made in FR?
>tfw derailing this more into tekken thread
Is Knee going to be at EVO? I bet Shaheen is most used character there.
Who here beat Scenario Campaign in Tekken 6? Because i actually did. I had a good time when i understood how to fight with the weird controls and fighting in the Metal Gear was pretty fun.
He looks like he's still fucking around on his livestreams. I really don't know besides that. I just tune in and fall asleep 10 mins in. It's comfy.
Kazumi, Shaheen, Claudio are the trio of fucking cheap. From what we've seen from FR though, Shaheens damage has been nerfed so it's expected Kazumi won't be a df+1 whore and claudio not absolutely braindead.
Post your mains of the games you play
USF4:
T. Hawk
UMvC3:
Dante, Sentinel and several characters for the third slot
KoF13:
Kensou, Shen and Yuri
Tekken 3:
Paul
I'm sure we will find out the changes once FR is out in arcades.
I did, only hell train part was fucking hard. It was nice bonus overall since they didn't take away the arcade mode and best customization to date. Never beat Nancy though, fuck her.
Fighters History Dynamite: Karnov's Revenge
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Capcom vs SNK 2
ST
It's one of those four but each seem to scratch a different itch
I started playing TTT2 as my first 3d fighter since I was about 6 years old and I have NO idea what i'm doing but its still pretty fun.
I dabbled in Dark resurrection on psp but dont think I really learned it, just played as bryan and he was a monster
Dark Resurrection. T5 is kinda shit, but thankfully DR fixed it.
Sega jumped out of this deal, maybe because they afraid they would actually make money

Harada said he wants them buffed at the start so people will be interested in playing them and try the new characters. They won't be that great forever.
SFIII 3rd Strike:
Tall dude with the mask
T4:
Korean dude
T5:
Raven
T5 DR:
Raven
TTT2:
Raven and Law
If i was better at side stepping i could have beat Nancy legit but i just looked up something on youtube and the easiest way is to do Rogers wind up punch again and again.
I just wanted Platinum on that game and i got it.

Different chars are OP according to different players. Some Koreans actually started to think King might be the best char in this game, because he's easy as hell and so fucking good. Especially on forgotten realms.
Claudio and Shaheen are obvious, but Kaz has some retarded shit, especially in his Devil form. 50% life bar hell sweep vs f+4 with full juggle as a guaranteed followup on hit, advantage on block. 50\50 apocalypse.
Game is kinda ridiculous in the amount of damage you can dish out per second. Everything hits hard and everything can lead to some catastrophic situations.
The brown dude in the vid I linked it friends with some dude who looks like Hagrid. He says Feng is pretty fucking savage atm.
...
yeah, this is why already OP chars get even more buffs, Gigas sits in a trash bin and Chloe is literally useless, even in FR.
Such balancing, so wow. They just fucked up. They already nerfed Claudio and Shaheen in arcade updates several times. But I have to give them credit for sticking to their guns, meta needs time.
First name is main and after that are other characters i like to play.
TTT:
Law/Eddy
T4:
Law/Kazuya/Violet
T5:
Law
T6:
Law/Dragunov/Miguel/Kazuya/Lee
TTT2:
Law/Dragunov/Miguel/Kazuya/Jinpachi/Jin/Kunimitsu
Currently in my scene we have 1 main kazumi player, 2 main shaheen and everyone has a pocket claudio, he's too good not to play.
Gigas rage art is absolute trash, it can whiff so much it's stupid.
And? Average in T7 cast. Cast where Hwo, character with power crush launcher, 70% juggles and safe rage art can somehow drop below A+ tier in some players rankings.
How's the version on PS4?
>ST, A3, USFIV
Boxer
>CvS2
Boxer, Akuma, Bison
>SFV
Waiting for boxer
>MvC2
Doom, Akuma, Storm
>Tekken 7
King
King is the best char on forgotten realm. He will never be the best overall purely because mishimas.
>good sidestep
>absurd damage
Sounds like Tekken 3, which isn't an insult, 'cause I liked T3. Am I wrong?
that's not even the biggest of his worries.
Hei is meh. DJ is bretty good. Kaz is ridiculous, but you should not disregard King like that, Mishimas require good execution, King does not.
There are chars that do more damage than King from easier setups or no setups at all
One thing that scared me at maining Tekken was the stiff movement. Every time I played, I felt like moving through mud and characters were stuck on each other like magnets.
I did like T3's huge damage on pokes. Now I know people like long combos, but maybe make damage scale more after each hits?
haven't tried it. mostly play it on fightcade these days
I loved the character creation system
Darth vader
Destroyable armor
This game was so fun
movement isn't difficult to grasp if you are not new to fighting games and don't play on controller (which requires a lot of thumb dexterity), combos do have damage scaling
LC can do 70% juggles. doesn't save her.
Some chars are so good just because they are so solid. Jin jumped several tiers just because he became solid, ie they ironed out his bullshit. He doesn't do a lot of damage, he doesn't have any crazy flashy setup, he just grinds you out.
Some people put him up there with Shaheen and Kaz for quite some time.
King just has everything and asks nothing in return. He also has some bullshit as well.
Yeah Previous Tekken games had you shuffle instead of walk when pressing back or forward but that's the worst way to move anyway. You gotta back dash cancel and forward dash cancel to move better.
But now in Tekken 7 they added a walk so you can move around a little faster but the overall movement in FR is faster so it's all good now.
Also yes damage does scale now.
>LC can do 70% juggles. doesn't save her.
she's gigas tier everyone knows this
>in jumped several tiers just because he became solid
he is wonderful for jin enthusiasts yep
>King just has everything and asks nothing in return. He also has some bullshit as well.
Yes DF+1 is a ridiculous move, but he's not outrageous. Getting D+3 and F+2,1 from AK (and F+2, D+1) really did help him especially also now that damage all around got buffed. But it doesn't change the fact that there are better characters than him. That doesn't make him worse in comparison, just that there are characters easier than him and can work easier and do things easier etc.
KOF XI. Intelligent, nihilistic with a wicked sense of humor.
I mean, after 3, damage on single attacks were nerfed because combos were longer, right? But long combos + T3 damage = wtf, right? Even with damage scaling of current games. I mean, a launcher in T3 did 20-25% alone. I liked that shit. Mind you, I come from ST so I like my big damage but not long combos.
But maybe a compromise would be making damage scaling even more stronger than before?
pad vs stick? seriously?. Only reason to switch to stick is if you want to travel. Arcades have no gamepad support.
Damage does scale with each hit. It didn't in T3, funny enough you mentioned it.
T7 scaling is drastic, so best way to do combos is front-load them with damage, made them shorter. Although everything is short compared to TTT2.
You still need spacing. Yeah, you can walk, but it's basically a crutch for people who can't BDC, BDC is still superior.
T5 combos averaged around 60-70dmg, ~30dmg of that combo was in the launcher.
T3 combos weren't that reasonable. Uppercut into laser scrapper to tsunami did like 50% and majority of damage wasn't in the launcher.
Problems started with T6 bound and TTT2 made a mess of things.
Okay, maybe I'll pick T7 when I see it hanging in my locals.
What are good easy defensive/runaway/zoning character to learn?
I don't know, I started Tekken with 7. I get what you mean as I play ST and the games just go ridiculously fast. I tried Tekken 3 few weeks ago and it felt very boring and the damage really is crazy but I guess it's to compensate that all you had were singular buttons and very limited(?) combos but yeah I don't know shit about older tekken games so I can't really say. All I'm aware of is that it probably started to change up till DR then 6 introducing bound.
Korean backdashing takes 2 simple minutes to learn on stick, can you do a KBC on a pad just as easily? Using your wrist/palm for moving is faaaaaar easier than using your thumb.
Pick a char you want to play and stick to it. The great thing about Tekken is, it's not like Street Fighter where it's a match up heavy game so look at the cast and see who you like.
Alisa maybe. See Chanel, he plays defensive Alisa.
Jin has some great keepout options and decent punish(i14 electric punish, but you'll mange). Kaz is great, but he requires some patience, do not recommend for the first time player.
Paul can be played in keepout mode and if you get bored you can always go random with him.
More than half of the cast can be played defensively, you lose Steve 100%, but aside from that many chars can be played in various ways. Waste a few coins and see who you like.
Well, I never really got to grasp characters' playstyles in Tekken. I usually play defensive characters with good movements or godlike reach in 2D games.
Okay, I'll check Alisa out.
>Tekken 5 has Tekken 1-2-3 arcade into it and even another Namco classic
It was awsome.
I play King as aggressive as I play boxer in ST and defensively as I play him also in SF4. There's a lot more to a character that you can express yourself with for sure, for the many chars you played in a 2D fighter you may get a char that has all the combination of them all in one.
If Raven is out of T7 I switch to Lili. Who else waiting your main reveal never and going for another character in recent faitan?
youtube.com
Chanel plays Alisa. You can check TC if you want. Purely for inspiration. Don't try to copy their style right away.
Be warned defensive style in Tekken relies heavily on spacing, just like offensive style..
Don't bother with her rocket punch projectile, it's mostly for show or to taunt scrubs. Infact the only projectile worth anything is Akuma fireballs in FR.
Is this a fucking joke? T3 is still the best in the series because of how fucking fluid and controllable the movement is
was just listening to this today
>t3 is the best
>because of the movement
The same movement that is no different in all the games? Nice one
Asuka is the best
T3 had good movement at the time especially compared to the first two games but the game has gotten faster. It was good but best? This is where the term nostalgia goggles come into place.
...
I fully recognize mkx is a better game, but mk9 is my favourite.
SNK characters were neutered in that game....

Make way for the ultimate hero... DANZAIVER!!
How was spawn and the tekken guy in that game?
Everyone and their mother played Link in the GC version...
